Chapter 275: Maybe You’re More Dangerous Than the Poison
Chapter 275: Maybe You’re More Dangerous Than the Poison
There was something Roxanna had only just realized about Cyrus now that he was truly on the battlefield: once he locked in, he showed no fear at all.
Maybe it was because of the medicine Azul made, or maybe because of the hug she gave him earlier, but Roxanna felt that wasn’t enough to explain how calm he was right now.
It felt like... he didn’t let his anger take over his heart, and he also didn’t seem afraid even when the eagle beastmen’s claws were aimed directly at him.
"Does he have a death wish or something?" Roxanna narrowed her eyes and suddenly wanted to run over to him herself. "Why does he barely dodge their attacks?! Even Luan still dodges!"
"They have different fighting styles," Azul said calmly. "Luan is the most agile among us, so it’s natural for him to avoid attacks more easily than Cyrus."
"I know that, but..." Roxanna paused before speaking again. "It honestly feels like Cyrus doesn’t try that hard to avoid getting hurt, like he already knows... he won’t die from it."
And that thought felt strange to her because as far as she remembered, Cyrus normally wasn’t like this whenever he was in danger.
Azul remained silent for a moment while watching the battlefield below.
Cyrus had just taken another hit from an eagle beastman’s claws across his shoulder, yet his expression barely changed at all.
Instead of retreating, he immediately grabbed the enemy’s arm and drove a poisoned arrow straight into the beastman’s stomach.
The eagle warrior screamed in agony before collapsing onto the ground.
"You’re right," Azul admitted quietly.
Roxanna frowned even more.
The more she watched Cyrus fight, the stranger it felt.
It wasn’t recklessness, but was almost like... acceptance, as if Cyrus had already gotten used to pain a long time ago.
Well, yes, Cyrus used to be a slave, and the Sky Tribe had clearly tormented him badly, but this still felt different somehow.
It wasn’t just the attitude of someone who had suffered before.
It looked more like someone who had already accepted that getting hurt was normal for him.
That thought made Roxanna’s chest tighten painfully. How much pain had Cyrus gone through before this?
Below them, another eagle beastman slashed his claws across Cyrus’s arm.
Blood splattered into the air, but Cyrus didn’t even flinch.
Instead, he calmly stabbed a poisoned arrow into the enemy’s neck and kicked the body away.
Roxanna frowned harder. "That’s not normal," she whispered.
Azul silently watched the battlefield for a moment before finally speaking. "Maybe... Falcoln’s words awakened something inside him," he said quietly. "Like... maybe Cyrus is finally starting to understand himself better and realize what he’s truly capable of."
Roxanna was about to respond, but then she suddenly realized something important.
Her eyes quickly scanned the battlefield below. "Where’s Falcoln?" she asked suddenly. "I can’t see him anywhere."
Azul’s expression immediately changed. He quickly stood up on the roof and scanned the battlefield again. "You’re right."
Falcoln was gone.
Right at that moment, achill instantly ran down Roxanna’s spine because someone like Falcoln would never disappear in the middle of a battle for no reason.
"Where did he go?" Roxanna muttered nervously.
Below them, the fighting was still chaotic.
Cyrus and Luan were busy dealing with the remaining eagle beastmen, while the warriors of the Vixeria Tribe struggled to stop the giant eagles from throwing more red crystals.
Azul suddenly narrowed his eyes. "Move."
Before Roxanna could even ask what he meant, Azul suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her down.
Slash!
Something sharp sliced through the air right above their heads. The wooden roof behind them exploded apart instantly.
Roxanna’s eyes widened as she saw Falcoln landed heavily on the roof a second later, his claws buried deep into the broken wood.
His golden eyes slowly lifted toward them. "Found you," he said with a grin.
"I noticed that you covered your buildings with something, so the fire can’t burn them," Falcoln said with a grin before slowly turning his eyes toward Roxanna. "But still... I don’t think they’re strong enough to survive being destroyed."
Azul immediately pulled Roxanna behind him and raised his spear protectively.
"You really enjoy bothering other people’s wife, don’t you?" he said coldly.
Falcoln let out a soft laugh as he slowly stepped closer. "Well," he said casually, "maybe Cyrus will become easier to control if I use her against him."
Azul chuckled once, but his expression quickly turned serious. "In your dreams."
The moment those words fell, Azul suddenly thrust his spear forward.
Clang!
Falcoln blocked the attack with his claws, but the force still pushed him a few steps backward across the roof.
At the same time, Roxanna immediately pulled another arrow with her magical bow.
Woosh!
The arrow shot straight toward Falcoln’s chest, but this time, Falcoln twisted his body at the last second and avoided it completely, so the arrow slammed into the cliff behind him instead.
Without meaning to, Roxanna had struck one of the cracks in the cliff. A loud rumbling sound suddenly echoed through the area as the rocks above began to shake violently.
Crash!
Several massive rocks broke loose from the cliff and came crashing down toward them.
"Move!" Azul shouted immediately.
He quickly grabbed Roxanna and jumped off the roof just as huge boulders smashed into the hut behind them.
Boom! Crash!
Wood splintered apart while dust and broken stones exploded into the air.
Falcoln immediately leaped backward to avoid being crushed, but one of the falling rocks still slammed heavily into his shoulder and pinned him against the cliff wall.
Roxanna’s eyes widened slightly. "I actually hit him?"
Azul stared at the collapsing cliff for a second before laughing. "Wife," he said between laughs, "maybe you’re more dangerous than the poison."
Before Falcoln could move, Azul immediately thrust his spear straight into the center of his chest, pinning him even more firmly against the cliff.
Crack!
The force of the attack drove the spear deep into the rock behind him.
Falcoln’s eyes widened slightly for the first time since the battle began. Blood slowly dripped from the corner of his lips.
Azul tightly gripped the spear while staring coldly at him. "Stay there, you little bird."
