Chapter 4030 MU Superbody Major Event (11)
Chapter 4030 MU: The Superbody Incident (110)
The main universe's Batman already understands that the other side's intention in releasing Hulk first was simply to use Martian Manhunter's mind invasion to allow Hulk to enter his strongest state as quickly as possible, and then rush to Asgard to provide support.
Although the base was besieged, it consisted only of superheroes and a small number of Parademons; this force was far inferior to the combined invasion of the two great empires. Asgard and Earth were interdependent, so even with limited resources, Asgard had to allocate some of its strength to support them. Only by resolving the situation there as quickly as possible could they regain Asgard's assistance.
“This is really a headache,” Batwoman said, looking at the star map with her arms crossed. “The alliance between Earth and Asgard is far stronger than our alliance with Apokolips. As long as one side can get away, any trouble the other side has is not a problem.”
“All living beings within the Nine Realms have long been bound together; this is determined by the structure of the universe.” The Batman of the main universe sighed and straightened up from the table. “However, Earth in this universe has developed exceptionally well, possessing the ability to stand on equal footing with Asgard, which allows the two sides to help each other. It’s not like that in other universes.”
"So, it seems we were a bit too hasty in choosing this place as the battlefield?"
"That's not entirely true. Since it's training, we naturally need to choose strong opponents, otherwise how can we improve?" The mechanical Batman said, watching from the side. "Their command center is quite confident, actually sending all the Hulks to provide support. Let's continue to put pressure on them and see what their trump cards are."
The battlefront continues to advance.
The relentless surge of Parademons relentlessly pressured the mechanical defenses. Fusion bombs were unusable due to their proximity to the base. The mechanical defenses primarily consisted of shields and laser weapons. The most common trap was a gravity trap, but these were easily escaped with sufficient initial velocity and were not considered fatal.
Many Parademons stepped into the trap, but rather than accidentally stumbling upon it, they seemed to have deliberately chosen to test the waters. They appeared determined to use sheer numbers to overwhelm the mechanical defenses.
Captain America is holding his shield against the corrosive monsters. As the saying goes, it's not about hitting accurately, but about catching well; Captain America always manages to catch their splattering slime with his shield.
This stuff is highly corrosive; even hitting a vibranium shield will produce a puff of smoke, and the force of its spray is considerable, always managing to send Captain America flying.
Steve raised his shield to take a hit from a slime spray, but was unsurprisingly thrown back, crashing into the mechanical shield on his back. The shield provided him with momentum, but turning over in space was still a bit difficult. Just then, a mechanical arm reached out to him.
Steve grabbed Bucky's hand and adjusted his posture. He let out a sigh of relief and said, "Thanks, buddy. Are you alright?"
“Not bad.” Bucky took a few breaths, clearly exhausted from the fight. He shook his mechanical arm and said, “Howard really put in a good job; this arm is so much better than before.”
“I thought you were going to say he was hiding something from you,” Steve said with a smile. “He always does that.”
“No matter what happened before, they must have pulled out their best stuff this time.” Bucky grinned and said, “Let’s go, let’s teach these guys a lesson.”
Steve followed behind him, paused slightly, and then turned on a switch on the shield.
"So you've finally decided to use that?" Charles's slightly amused voice rang in his ear.
Steve sighed in a strange tone, which made Charles laugh even harder. Then Steve said, "This thing, if you don't use it, you don't use it at all. But if you do use it, it has to hit the mark. I originally wanted to use it on Batman, but now it seems I'll have to let Green Lantern try it first."
Who are you targeting?
“That one with the brightest armor,” Steve said, looking across the way. “The one in the outfit looks like he’s going to be awarded a medal…”
Steve was looking at Hal. Hal was dressed in the Emerald Prince's attire, which was much more luxurious than the other Green Lanterns, thus Steve spotted him immediately.
“Well, bad luck to him,” Charles said.
Steve didn't say anything more, but instead raised his shield to continue fighting the endless army of Parademon.
The battle quickly reached a stalemate. Despite the superheroes' resistance, the Parademons were unable to further pressure the defenses, but their sheer numbers meant that Marvel's heroes couldn't eliminate them.
This continued consumption is beneficial to Marvel, since they are consuming machines, and the essence of machines is minerals. They have no shortage of minerals, so they don't care how much they consume.
While there are many Parademons, they ultimately need aliens as materials. The Parademons on Apokolips now are all modified aliens captured by Darkseid. Although they possess pure mechanical technology, it is not their forte. Darkseid is not proficient in this area either, and is far inferior to Stark.
Moreover, the alliance between Batman and Darkseid isn't that solid. Although Darkseid says he's open to using them, if they're used too much, Darkseid might become dissatisfied, putting Batman in a difficult position.
“It’s about time,” Hal said. “Let’s get started.”
The balance is now basically even; one side must be given a boost to secure victory.
Upon hearing his command, the Green Lanterns immediately assembled and, with the spaceships they had conjured during their rest period, slowly flew towards the defensive line.
Marvel, of course, also sent people to stop them. Besides the Avengers members, there were also many young heroes, such as Fastball Robert. His ability was practically tailor-made for space combat; he could accelerate by colliding with anything, then crash into another, and after colliding with several, the impact from that speed would be enough to pulverize the opponent.
He leaped back and forth among the Parademon, and soon approached the Green Lanterns. The Green Lanterns, seeing something flying towards them, mistook it for a cannonball and raised a barrier to block it.
Several Green Lanterns tried to block the ball, but this only made the Fastball faster. One unlucky guy, who had his back to them, wasn't paying attention and was hit head-on in the waist by the Fastball. He screamed and flew away.
The Fastball struck right in the direction of Marvel's defenses. This hit Green Lantern, sending him deep into enemy territory. By the time he realized what was happening and tried to run, he was surrounded by enemies.
The other Green Lanterns were about to rush to the rescue when they saw things were going badly, but Hal quickly shouted, "Don't go over there yet!"
He wasn't against rescuing people, but rather that too many people couldn't go together; otherwise, they wouldn't be able to establish pressure on the front line, and the stalemate would continue. Sending only one or two people would suffice.
This Green Lantern is a humanoid creature, and his waist is inherently vulnerable. He was caught completely off guard and coughed up blood after being hit by the Fastball. It was clear that his internal organs had been concussed, and he couldn't get up immediately.
This is terrible. There are so many enemies around, and he has temporarily lost his ability to move. He can't use the green light energy to fly out, so he can only hope that someone will come to his rescue, but his position is very dangerous.
Hal thought for a moment and decided to go himself. He was already nearby, and his teleportation skills were better than the other Green Lanterns. He opened a Green Lantern portal nearby, flashed inside, grabbed the person after exiting, and continued running towards the portal.
Unexpectedly, a spinning shield flew straight towards him. Hal took a step back and dodged, but another punch came from his right. Hal turned his head and saw that it was the Winter Soldier.
He snorted coldly, turned around, and kicked the Winter Soldier's mechanical arm, barely forcing him back. Immediately afterward, another Captain America rushed up. Hal didn't dodge or evade, punching the man in the chin, then picked him up again and ran towards the portal.
Just as they were about to enter the portal, another shield flew towards them. The companion carrying it let out a painful groan. Hal gritted his teeth and took the hit head-on, but jumped into the portal before the other shield could reach him.
Steve, who arrived shortly after, showed no sign of disappointment. He retrieved his shield, gently touched the center of it, nodded, and said, "It seems to have been successful."
“I have to thank Dr. Pym this time,” Charles said. “His Pym particles have come in very handy.”
"Yeah, even though we don't know if the so-called 'M'Kraan' crystal curse is real, it's better to give such a dangerous item to Batman than to keep it in our own home."
Charles smiled in his office on Sky Island, the capital of the Andromeda Galaxy. Eric turned to him and said, "The plan succeeded?"
"I suppose so. Steve has successfully delivered the shrunken crystal to Green Lantern on the other side. I just don't know if Batman will notice. If he doesn't, we can observe whether the crystal curse is real; if he does, he'll definitely investigate it, and maybe he'll actually discover something?"
“You guys are really despicable,” Eric said calmly as he sat down.
“Anyway, this thing is part of the rules of the universe, and they can’t take it with them,” Charles said, spreading his hands. “It’s fine with them. Whether something happens or not, we won’t lose out.”
Eric shook his head. Although he had agreed to the plan, its success still seemed somewhat absurd.
The reason is simple: this crystal was once a treasure of the Shi'ar Empire, and it took them quite a bit of effort to acquire it. Unexpectedly, it turned into a hot potato, and they had no choice but to pass it on to Batman.
This is actually related to the legend of the crystal. M'Kraan crystal is said to be the ultimate reality, possessing the power to destroy the universe. Legend has it that when the crystal collapses, a new universe will be born, and those who possess the crystal will become unfortunate.
When the mutants obtained this crystal, they thought it was a powerful artifact, since the Shi'ar Empire had previously treasured it, so they naturally assumed it was something extraordinary.
But that's not actually the case at all. Mutants can't use this crystal directly, and the idea of it destroying the universe is complete nonsense. The energy of this thing is so stable that even Magneto can't do anything about it.
But thinking about it, it makes sense. If it were that easy to start, wouldn't Eternity go crazy?
Moreover, ever since they acquired the crystal, the mutants' luck seems to have turned sour, and the Andromeda Galaxy has been plagued by misfortunes. Charles is indeed a bit superstitious; he feels that such a cursed object shouldn't be kept in his hometown. Eric didn't initially believe in curses, but since the birth of the four mischievous devils, he's also begun to wonder if he's been afflicted with some kind of curse.
So, after Charles's repeated persuasion, he wavered, thinking that since it couldn't be studied or used, it was better to just throw it away. And since it happened to be invading from another universe, why not just give it to Batman?
If Batman can use it, then he's really impressive, but he can only use it for a short time. This thing is part of the rules of the universe, and Batman cannot take it out of this world. If Batman can't use it, he will definitely study it repeatedly. If he really manages to figure something out, it can be a reference for mutants.
More importantly, if this thing truly has the property of bringing misfortune to whoever possesses it, then no matter how much Batman struggles, it will be useless. This is the power of the universe's will, and they are destined to lose.
But this thing was originally the size of a planet, and Batman isn't blind; he couldn't just stand by and watch something so huge get close without doing anything. Throwing it to Batman in such a grand manner wouldn't work; they had to do it secretly.
So the mutants turned to Dr. Pym for help, asking him to use Pym Particles to shrink the crystal and place it on Captain America's shield. When the opportunity arose, they threw it at Batman.
