Chapter 4168 Lord of Flesh and Blood Mutation

Chapter 4168 Lord of Flesh and Blood Mutation

"So, we can't get out?"

The halfling girl asked worriedly, and Shad shook his head:

"For various reasons, our life forms are currently normal, and even if we leave here, we will not pose a threat to the world. So I think we must prove to the factory's management that we are normal, and in a small probability, perhaps we can be released."

"What's the most likely outcome?"

Gina poked Shad's arm with the tip of her tail.

"In most cases, it's better to kill the innocent than let the guilty go free. For the sake of world safety, we don't need to consider the lives of a few individuals."

"I can't see the figure I expected in the thin blood mist that's flowing around me," Xia De said, but he still couldn't see it.

He and Mrs. Gustave exchanged a glance, and from the old witch's somewhat panicked eyes, he understood that she had already guessed what they would face in the end. Everyone fell silent. After a moment, Miss Feliana spoke first:

"Did you feel it?"

"what?"

Gina asked instinctively, then noticed Miss Bradley leaning against her, trembling, and closing her eyes:

"It feels like I'm being watched."

The three demonic eyes on the shield were now completely dim. Gina looked around again, somewhat dazed, and realized that the world, which had been almost entirely bathed in red light, had become dark. The bright red had turned into a dark red, and at the same time, Gina heard the sound of the tide; it seemed that the sea was right beside her.

Waves of red liquid slapped against her feet, and the tail that had been wrapped around her waist loosened, hanging down naturally with its tip dangling in the liquid.

She also felt that she was being watched, the source of the gaze being very, very far away, yet also feeling very, very close.

In a daze, Gina felt as if she were walking on a pink sandy beach, with a blood-red ocean beyond. When Shad's hand patted her shoulder, Gina shuddered and realized that although the light around them had indeed dimmed, they were still standing in the fog.

There was no ocean or beach, yet the group huddled together, their gazes emanating from the depths of the thick fog as if they were tangible. At the dragon maid's tea party, the pink dragon girl had curiously inquired of her seniors about their experiences encountering gods; each dragon's description differed. But Gina felt as if the world was pressing down on her.

Golden light emanated from around her, and out of the corner of her eye, the Dragon Girl saw streaks of gold, like burn marks, appearing on Xia De's body. They weren't frightening; on the contrary, they looked incredibly sacred.

With Miss Feliananna on his shoulders, Shad stood in front of the witches. He looked up at the dark red sky and then asked:

"Could you please let us leave?"

The sighs exploded in her head like the tolling of a bell. Gina saw deformed humans crying, elves missing their right hands laughing wildly, dwarves born blind cursing, and dragons with different colored bodies grieving.

At this moment, countless beings whose flesh and blood were deformed due to congenital or acquired reasons sang together in her mind and bowed before her.

Gina stumbled, but was quickly steadied by the old witch who was praying in a low voice. Meanwhile, Mrs. Gustav's other hand was gripping the halfling witch's collar, who, like Gina, looked dazed, as if she wanted to cut off her own arm.

Xia De withdrew his gaze from upwards and turned to look straight ahead.

Pat-pat-pat~ Pat-pat-pat~

Who is walking on the water? Who is moving through the blood mist? The figure in the distance looks the same size as everyone else, but when the eyes finally catch its outline in the dimly colored mist, everyone feels that the whole world is coming towards them.

The hymn that had started out suddenly rippled the surface of the liquid beneath their feet, and behind the figure in the mist, it seemed as if a thousand rainbows were shining. Mrs. Gustav suddenly groaned in pain, and fell forward because she couldn't feel her legs. This time, Gina caught her.

The Dragon Girl felt that her left arm had disappeared, as if it had never existed, while Miss Bradley, who had just regained consciousness, clearly felt that two more eyes had appeared on her face, but the extra eyes did not provide her with any additional vision.

Shad stood in front of them, protecting them; the flesh-and-blood mutation was just an illusion and had not yet fully materialized.

The stranger and the petite witch on his shoulder both looked ahead with serious expressions, while the one-armed black figure that was slowly walking towards them stopped at a certain point.

Unable to judge its distance, just as it was impossible to describe the shape of that black silhouette. In Shad's eyes, it looked like a dwarf child with two heads, a middle-aged man with one arm, or an old man with one leg and a cane who was over five meters tall.

But when Xia De regained his composure, he clearly saw that the figure was just a constantly changing mass of flesh and blood that resembled a human.

The Old God, Lord of Flesh and Blood Anomalies, the One-Armed Prince, watched the group of four from the mist. After a moment, answers to Shad's question came simultaneously from all directions:

"Those who challenge life are mostly willing to sacrifice themselves at this moment, turning into flesh and blood to merge into the Mother Fluid beneath their feet, in order to save the whole world. Their achievements are unknown to others, but the world will be grateful for their sacrifice."

Shad knew the nobility of those who had once stood here alongside them, knew the courage they had shown in making their decisions, but he would not allow the witches behind him to remain here:

“God, our flesh and blood remain normal; we have passed all the trials. Please give us a chance to leave this place. The secret will not be spread; our writhing flesh and blood will eventually welcome new pilgrims and victims, but we only want to go home.”

The voice in the fog was that of a man with an injured throat.

“You can leave at any time, you perfect outsider.”

"But I want to leave with them."

Someone seemed to be laughing in the fog, a figure in the fog was shaking their head, and the overlapping echoes all said:

"The essence of life is just a mass of flesh and blood with different appearances. The mortal things you cherish are no different from a fire, a grain of sand, or a pebble. Life is just a distorted miracle, and the individual has no meaning."

Shade shook his head as well:

"I want to leave with them. I like these. Each one is a different kind of fleshy blob."

God laughed, God granted his request:

"Then come forward alone, let me take a good look at you."

Shad stepped forward, but then felt someone tugging at his clothes from behind. Gina, tail between her legs, shook her head at Shad, trying to suppress her fear. She knew that the evil god didn't just want to observe Shad up close, but Shad smiled at her and continued forward.

Miss Ferrenanna, perched on her shoulder, remained silent, and things did not go as she had planned. The substitute doll had no chance to function, and God's direct appearance led to the worst possible outcome.

She wanted to follow Shad forward, but an inexplicable force pulled her off Shad's shoulder, leaving her suspended in the air watching Shad's figure move forward alone.

Just like in the Forest of a Thousand Trees, just like in the Valley of Death, just like the stories that happened in the City of Night, he still bravely faced the gods, and he still wanted to protect and help the girls he cherished and the companions who traveled with him.

As he walked forward, he felt for the first time that his body was becoming unstable, and then he forgot what it meant to be human.

How many hands should I have?

The outsider with many hands asked himself.

How many legs should I have?

Shad, who walked on four legs, thought curiously.

How many eyes do I have?

The eyes on its face and body are looking around at the same time.

"What the hell am I?"

Seven or eight mouths on the body spoke at the same time.

To the witches, Shad was growing ever more distant from them, and from humanity itself. In the mist, he soon became nothing more than a black outline, like a god, an outline that distorted constantly, transforming into a form no one dared to recognize.

Whether it was real or just an illusion, even the body's owner, Shad, couldn't be sure. But during the process of physical distortion, he still persisted in moving forward, the spark he held in his hands or claws providing him with power, and no matter the form of his body, his surface was always covered with scars symbolizing the afterglow of divinity.

Then, at a certain moment, gentle red moonlight flowed from his soul, and in an instant, the irregular flesh in the witches' eyes transformed into a cat under the red moonlight. The cat's body mutated again, but before the spider legs fully grew, it transformed into a giant dragon that suffocated Gina.

As the dragon's body approached the god, it underwent severe distortion, its flesh transforming into a long, silver serpent. The serpent grew hands and feet, but under the glow of the red moon, it transformed into a silver wolf.

Shad constantly changes among the many forms that can be regarded as his true form. The distortion of flesh and blood is seen as a process of transformation, rather than a genuine error in the body.

He used this to maintain his composure and continued toward the god who seemed so far away, yet appeared to be just around the corner.

God did not stop them, but the moment His gaze was fully fixed on Shad and their eyes met, the world changed in Shad's eyes.

Everywhere he looked, there were chunks of flesh, flesh and organs, and he was clearly part of this insane, distorted world. The continuous operation of the shapeshifting spell was disrupted at this moment, and the life energy his body absorbed in that short instant began to conform to the insane world he saw, promoting his body's transformation into those distorted chunks of flesh.

Shad stopped. The figure the witches saw now was clearly identical to the unstable figure further away. Both were constantly distorting, both appeared human but had no human form whatsoever.
