Chapter 4140 "Dividing the Spoils"

Moreover, not only is Wei Ge's level insufficient, but even if she were to immediately advance to the twelfth rank on her own, whether Xia De's magic would take effect would still be related to fate and not under Xia De's own control.

When Brienne ascended to demigod status, the special environment of the Moon Sanctuary and Shad's own "moon" attribute guided her destiny; on the night Sylvie ascended to the thirteenth rank, there were already fluctuating fortunes near the snow mountain, and the unknowable relic "What If" further revealed her past life's destiny.

Are there any other methods?

Shad asked again, and the woman smiled:

"Of course there are, but as I said last time, other methods cannot completely cure her problem; they can only provide temporary relief."

There are two remaining methods. The first requires you to use the Enchanted Lock that can fuse with and absorb witches. Vigo Astley's problem is nothing more than an abnormality in her soul essence leading to physical abnormalities. Your fusion with her will allow your soul light to temporarily fill and suppress the void in her soul essence.

We all know that your soul is so great and pure, and your body is so perfect and strong; witches love these things.

Shad ignored the implication in its words:

"But her soul is not enough to touch mine."

"You need to have some imagination."

The purple eyes seemed to be misty with tears in them:

"Think about the book I gave you, The Pink Book. It should contain methods to ensure that your soul is not seriously damaged while playing some fun games, right? But using your Lock is the worst option, since it has an expiration date, and obviously you can't open the Lock often."

It's quite true. As the complex maze grows ever larger, even Shad, with his tenth ring, can no longer use it as a normal tool. His recent fusion with Sylvie was only possible because of the "Blood Essence of All Things" given to him by the pseudo-people.

"What about the second way?"

“I can smell your scent on her. Clearly, you’ve discovered something special about your blood.”

It looked at Xia De meaningfully:

"So, do you have anything more delicious than blood?"

Vanessa looked at Shad, her face flushing red. The experienced witch understood the implication.

Xia De suspected that "desire" was mocking him:

"What is it?"

“You should understand yourself that it is the source of life, enough to temporarily repair her soul and body, and fill the gaps in her soul’s essence. Since you know so much about the House of Pseudo-Humans, you should naturally know about the special liquid called ‘Pseudo-Human Mother Liquid,’ which is made from ‘Mother Liquid’ flowing out from a certain door.”

The hoarse voice of "desire" was even deeper than the night:

"Use the pseudo-humans' technique for creating 'pseudo-human mother fluid' to process your bodily fluids. Whether it's blood or what I mentioned, this can be used to brew a recovery potion even more potent than 'blood brew.' Of course, this potion is only effective for cases like Vigo Astley's."

With this potion, even if you can't find a better treatment later, as long as you continue to provide the potion, her lifespan can still return to normal. In fact, because she has ingested too much of your components, her lifespan will likely be longer than that of an ordinary witch.

As for the brewing method of the 'fake human mother liquor,' you'll have to find that out yourself. Aren't you cooperating with the fake people too?"

This method sounds quite good, at least better than hoping that Vige will advance to the twelfth rank soon, and that Shad can just happen to make his magic work.

"Thank you so much."

He did not hold back his gratitude:

"Is it true that Vigo Astley's mother said that Vigo found her sister and that she could be cured of her illness?"

The woman in the lake did indeed answer that question:

"Yes, it's true, of course. Although I haven't met her sister yet, the flaw in that witch's soul is not only related to the [Jade Record], but also clearly intentionally created. Therefore, there must be something that can perfectly fill that void. As for the consequences, you'll have to guess for yourself."

Whether it's borrowing the light of your soul or brewing the mother fluid from bodily fluids, these are merely temporary ways to fill that void. She is incomplete, flawed, so even if she is truly beautiful, to me she's still just like the little girl next to you—not interesting at all.

Iluna was clearly angry, but this time she didn't say anything. She had already realized that the head in the lake was deliberately trying to provoke her, so she kept her mouth shut and imagined herself kicking that head like a ball.

"I understand. Where is the [Leather Goods Hall]?"

Shad asked, and this time "desire" provided the answer:

"If you can't find it tonight, try again tomorrow during the day. The location is in the Upper City of Arcadia, in the lake in Oakham Park. There will be some events in the park on Saturday morning for the opening of the Old World Industrial Exposition, and a lot of boats will be on the lake."

The main body of the [Furniture Guild] is on one of those ships. Don't worry about not finding it; with your perception, once you've determined the general area, it can't hide. Interesting soul, let me give you another hint: clearly, more than one person will be visiting the Furniture Guild tomorrow.”

The artificial lake in the park is certainly too deep to allow a large ship like the "Radiant Messenger" to sail there; the largest vessel that could appear there would probably only be a small yacht.

"Others? I understand, there are others who have their eyes on the [Leatherworks Guild], but that's fine too. Using that relic against multiple targets simultaneously is more advantageous for my operation. But if I really find the contract you want, would you rather I tear it up immediately, or have me bring it to you?"

Shad asked again, and the woman in the lake smiled brightly:

"Either is fine. I trust your judgment."

As the head spoke, it began to move towards the center of the lake, but Shad stopped it again:

"Wait a moment."

He threw the mask given to him by "desire" into the lake:

"Here you go, this wasn't part of the compensation we discussed."

"Are you that afraid of me? This mask is a gift for you too. No, at least for now you still need it; without it, you can't enter the [Furniture Guild]. But, a man as calculating as you is really quite adorable."

Amidst laughter, the woman's head gradually receded and disappeared into the night amidst ripples.

As it disappeared, an enormous number of chests rose from the lakebed. The shape of these chests was extremely similar to the type that "Mimics" often disguised themselves as, which was the common style of treasure chests from ancient times.

The boxes and the mask drifted to the shore together, and when Iluna opened the first box that had drifted ashore, she was surprised to find some leather items neatly stacked inside.

"What if these boxes are full of leather goods?"

Vanessa stared in astonishment at the crate that was slowly making its way to the shore amidst the crashing sounds, while Silris looked out at the great lake from behind her:

"That mermaid gave us all the leather goods the leatherworker owned?"

"It's definitely not all of them. The amount of leather goods owned by the leatherworkers is beyond our imagination. This should only be a part of it."

Shad bent down and picked up the mask, then paused, for upon touching it he learned of a simple ritual, one that was clearly not the one to be used now.

He then opened another box, and above the folded leather goods, he saw the small knife that the leatherworker had used earlier, the one capable of cutting through space.

"What should we do with these? Although these leather items and tools can be considered relics, does the Witch Council need them?"

Iluna asked Vanessa, knowing Shad wouldn't keep these things at home, but Vanessa shook her head:

“I can assure you that the Council’s collection will not contain anything like this. Witches don’t collect just anything, and the Council doesn’t need these things. I think Vigo definitely won’t agree to us putting these things in her house, and it’s not convenient to store them at Miss Elizabeth’s place either. How about we put them in St. Byrons?”

She then asked Xia De, "The academy did indeed collect some leather items for research purposes, but this time the quantity of leather items is simply too large."

While still examining the leather, Iluna blinked her left eye again:

"How come I see life force in these leather items? The way this life force exists is really strange. But then again, it makes sense that even though it's just a layer of skin, it can remain intact for thousands of years."

“I just tried it. I can use magical techniques to extract the life force from leather. Once I do that, the leather will be damaged, but not completely. Given time, it can repair itself.”

Shad said, but he doesn't intend to do that:

"The life force contained within the leather is not pure, after all, this thing is not a normal life form. But this impure life force is only affected by the whispering element, not a distorted life force. If it weren't for the battle just now, I wouldn't have extracted it into the source of the fire to increase the power of the calamity."

He had made plans:

"Let's leave these leather items in Saint Byrons for now. Once I find the normal source of the fire from the Fifth Age, I'll find a way to purify these fires containing whispering elements into the most normal fire. Then these leather items will be useful."

Iluna and Vanessa stayed behind to conduct a preliminary examination of the leather goods, while Shad returned to Fragrant House ahead of them to inform Danist about the leather goods.

Although it was late at night, after hearing that Shad had a batch of leather goods, Daniste returned to the academy with him that very night and then notified the professors of the Library and Information Science Department to prepare for containment.

They not only had to assess the specific danger level of each leather item, but Shad was also worried that "desire" had tampered with the leather.
