Xia De then looked at Wei Ge, who avoided his gaze. Although still shy about what happened that afternoon, she eventually walked up to Xia De, stood in front of him, pursed her lips, and looked at him for a long while before whispering:
"First of all, I want to apologize for my actions this afternoon."
"No, no, you saved me. If you hadn't shown up, I might have been in big trouble. Your actions were all because of that mermaid; it has nothing to do with you."
"Mermaid" is a metaphor for "desire," and although it was the first time Wei Ge had heard this term, she understood it immediately.
She didn't respond to Xia De's words, but continued to look at him with a melancholy expression, saying:
"So, you already knew most of the people in the council. In the thirteen-choice game, you only met me on the tenth try."
These words made Xia De sound like some kind of dissolute man. He wanted to use probability to argue that Wei Ge's point of view was incorrect, but Wei Ge had no intention of listening to Xia De. Instead, she coughed softly:
"It's all fate's fault, it's all their fault."
She reached out and wrapped her arms around Shad's neck, then slowly looked at Galina beside Shad. The Duchess asked in surprise:
"What's with that expression? You can't blame me for running into Xia De so late, can you?"
Although Wei Ge wasn't petty, after regaining her senses, she remembered everything that had happened that evening:
"You barged in with everyone just to see me make a fool of myself, didn't you, Galina? Don't think I didn't see through your malicious intentions. I've already been at a disadvantage since I met Shad relatively late, and instead of showing me any consideration, you want to see me fail?"
She held Shad in her arms, her voice growing softer and softer. Galina couldn't deny the earlier accusations, but the later words infuriated her:
"How dare you talk back to me! Wei Ge, then answer me, what were you doing just now? I just wanted to see you make a fool of yourself, and you actually tried to force yourself on me!"
"That's not my fault, it's the fault of that keepsake."
Viggo immediately spoke, not giving Galina a chance to finish her sentence. She recalled how her "good time" had been interrupted by these witches who had barged into her home, and felt even more aggrieved:
"Besides, haven't I already taken the final step?"
"Ha~ You want to go all the way! Don't you have any shame?"
Galina suddenly raised her voice, and the cat on Shad's shoulder looked at her, revealing a very human-like reproachful expression.
Vigo coughed a few more times, then released Shad and approached Galina to question her:
"Shame? Galina, then answer me—what's the deal with the 'wrist' that's been circulating in Tobesk? Others may not know, but I do today—it's true!!!"
"Ladies,"
Sylvie smiled silently with her lips pursed, so Shad interrupted her:
How about we sit down and talk?
Vig glanced at Shade, but ignored him this time. The black-haired witch continued to question the Duchess:
“I didn’t ask when they were all here, but now it’s just the three of us and him. Now answer me—you live in the same city as him, and Sylvie said his house has a direct view of the Yordles Palace, so have you never spent a night alone in his house? Can you honestly say you haven’t done anything?”
“Wei Ge, a lot of stories have actually happened in the past.”
Sylvie wanted to say a few words in support of Galina, but Vig suddenly turned to her instead:
"And you, Sylvie. I was just suspicious before, but now I'm sure. You didn't react at all to what I said. Haven't you been cheating on me before too?"
"Already?"
Sylvie's face flushed red. Although she knew that Vige probably didn't mean it, she still felt that she had been mocked.
"Alright, alright, sit down and let's talk."
Xia De spoke again, this time in a slightly sterner tone, and everyone then moved to the sofa.
Miss Rowling, who was standing at the door, led the maids to change the teapot, teacups, and snacks and fruit, and then quickly retreated.
Ignoring her housekeeper, Viggo sat down next to Shad and immediately took his arm. Instead of speaking to Galina and Sylvie, she asked Shad:
"Answer me, have you and Galina, and you and Sylvie, already had the most intimate relationship?"
Both Galina and Sylvie knew that Shad would not lie to them.
"Yes."
Wei Ge took a deep breath, then glared angrily at Jia Lina:
"See? He's already admitted it."
Jialina winked:
"Alright then, I admit it too. I've stayed at Xia De's house many times, experienced his gentleness and strength countless times, and done all sorts of things countless times. Why do you insist that I tell you all this in person? Do you think it will be exciting? I was just being considerate of your feelings."
"Cough, cough, cough."
Vige coughed violently again. Xia De picked up the teacup on the table and handed it to her, then looked at Jia Lina. The latter looked embarrassed, but still seemed somewhat smug. She had really been angry that afternoon, otherwise she wouldn't be throwing a tantrum like a child with Vige now.
Sylvie said a few more words to smooth things over, and after Viggo had calmed down, she asked her:
“Sevi, I don’t blame you. After all, I know how attractive he is. You just made the same mistake I will make in the future. Can you tell me, out of the ten witches in the council who know him, how many of them have the closest relationship with him?”
The woman with beautiful, long, wavy hair glanced at Shad and Galina. Galina pouted, thinking about the "mistake she would make in the future," while Shad nodded. Then, Sevi said:
“Galina, me, Vanessa, Sylvia, Megan. Just the five of us.”
"Only? Before me, he only knew nine witches. Excluding Granny Cassandra, out of the eight of you, five of you actually stole food!"
"This doesn't count as cheating. We had a normal relationship before we took the final step."
Sylvie had to correct him, and Shad was about to speak, but Viggo then said to Galina:
"Jalina, you're the first witch he's ever met, right?"
The Duchess puffed out her proud chest:
"Yes, I knew him before everyone else, back when Shad was only at the first ring."
"The second one is me, then Grandma Cassandra, Sylvia, Vanessa, the Megan sisters, Bella, Flora, and Claire."
Sylvie added from the side, and Viggo then whispered:
"It's exactly the order in which the chosen ones' stories happen."
“Yes, everyone has helped me a lot along the way. You should have heard in the council that the witches and I witnessed the birth of each chosen one, and that’s how our stories all began.”
Xia De finally got a chance to speak, and just as Wei Ge had repeatedly emphasized, she didn't blame Xia De at all; she just felt that she was really unlucky.
"If I had met you, Galina, sooner, even if you were the first one, you could never make me call you 'sister' again."
Galina smiled demurely, then gestured for Sylvia to speak, and Sylvia had no choice but to explain for Vigo again:
"Speaking of family situation, besides the witches, there are other girls around Shad, and Galina is not the first in a broad sense."
"Not a witch?"
Vige raised an eyebrow, not really caring much about the non-witch girls. Xivi noticed her attitude and reminded her:
"For example, the Red Moon Witch, Daniste."
The Great Witch of Chaos blushed as she recalled her bold guesses about Shad's identity from the previous night. Now she understood what Shad meant by reminding her not to repeat those words.
"Shad is skilled at using the power of the Crimson Moon; it makes sense that the librarian was the first?"
"No, there was also Galina's grandniece earlier. No, not your future apprentice Adelina, but another one, Lacey Cavendish. Her situation was very special, even more peculiar than your soul state. A girl named Dorothy Luisa was connected to her soul, and it was Shad who saved them."
Wei Ge, who had just looked aggrieved, suddenly smiled and looked past Xia De at Jia Lina:
"So, you're even later than your grandniece?"
Jialina then turned her head away from Vigo like a child throwing a tantrum.
Sevier added:
"However, the princess and the writer were not the first. The first girl by Shad's side was a very capable fortune teller."
“Her name is Luvia Anastasia. I will bring her to see you soon. She possesses an unknowable-level relic, the [Stadium of Fate], which can be used to perform divination on your mother again.”
Shade said, and Vigo nodded, without asking Galina and Sylvie for more information:
"Shad Suren Hamilton".
She pronounced Shad's full name for the first time, speaking it very slowly, as if savoring every detail of its pronunciation:
"I'd heard before that Galina had a very famous lover in Tobesk. I originally thought she was just using this method to appease the church's investigation into witches, but I didn't expect her to be so bold. You're all very bold. But I don't blame you at all, Shad, not at all."
She leaned on Shad's shoulder, glancing sideways at Galina:
"Thinking about it carefully, it's actually not so bad. Although I'm very angry that you guys kept this from me for so long, I was thinking that I would have to hide and cover up the pressure from the council in the future. But now it seems that there is no need for that at all."
She let out a long sigh:
“Life is always like this, it shocks us and surprises us. Galina, I’m still angry with you, but I won’t bring the conflict into our lives. You’ve helped Shad come so far, I should actually thank you. Without you, I wouldn’t have met him.”
Jialina felt that Vige's words were strange, but she had no intention of maintaining the conflict:
"I apologize to you too. I just wanted to have some fun, not to deliberately embarrass you. Although what you did this afternoon was really outrageous."
