Galina wasn't joking; her thoughts were much more serious:
“The situation in Arcadia City is now somewhat out of Vigo’s control. Although she has the blood brew you provided, she is not a normal eleventh-tier Great Witch. If she were to fight Granny Cassandra, Granny would most likely be the one to win.”
Luvia asked her:
"You mean, you really want to send people to support her?"
"That's so boring, I mean, Viggo herself wouldn't agree. I brought Agelina here today for this very reason. Didn't we keep saying we wanted Agelina to become a witch's apprentice? She herself has that desire."
So, should we send Agelina to Arcadia City now, so she can get used to being with Viggo? Although Agelina's level isn't high, she'll definitely be able to handle some mundane matters for Viggo; Agelina is very capable in that area.
"what?"
Adelina, who was happily listening to everyone's conversation, blinked. She had no idea about Galina's plans beforehand.
Although Lacey knew that Galina didn't want Vigo Astley to "monopolize" Shad, she still thought it was a good idea:
"Always staying cooped up in the Yordle Palace won't lead to much growth. If this opportunity can be used to give Adelina some training, it wouldn't be bad. After the Battle of Destiny, she participated in the battle and has now advanced to the fourth ring."
While Arcadia City is currently unstable, it's relatively safe compared to the Chosen Ones' final battle. I don't object to this suggestion; besides, even if Adelina doesn't get along with that Chaotic Great Witch, she can at least learn some new skills.”
Lacia was considering things from her younger sister's perspective, and Luvia agreed with Galina's idea:
"It's time to let Adelina grow on her own. Although the courses at Zalas Academy are very good, they can't compare to having a teacher in charge of her individually. Shad, what's your opinion?"
Shad then asked Adelina:
"Adelina, would you like to go to Arcadia City?"
The red-haired princess and Shad exchanged a glance for a moment. She thought of her friends Iluna and Emilia's current power, her own determination to protect her sister, and her own ambition to enjoy the afternoon tea cakes. She nodded emphatically:
"I am willing."
“Alright, I agree. But Galina, you need to find a way to get the Speaker and Vigo's approval, as well as Queen Diana and your nephew's approval. Lacey, you need to help Adelina apply for a ‘leave of absence’ from the Zarath Academy.”
Galina smiled:
"The situation with Larousse III and Diana is straightforward. As for the council... well, Adelina won't be leaving immediately anyway, we'll find another opportunity later. Tomorrow is the last day of the Sowing Month, and Adelina should be able to see you there before Margaret arrives in Arcadia."
That would be so much fun!
"The camaraderie among witches is truly wonderful~"
Lacey said this lightly, then looked at Shad:
"So what about you, Shad? Are you going out later?"
"Yes, I need to go see Mr. Copps."
Lacey then said:
“I’ll go with you. The first time you went there, Dorothy took you. This time it’s my turn to go with you.”
Mr. Cops's rural cemetery is located north of the city of Tobesk. Although it shares the same northern suburbs location as the recently discovered "House of Resurrection" of the pseudo-people, the orientation is different, and the village is actually connected to the city.
Lacia enjoyed these evenings alone with Shad. She knew Shad was busy again, so on the carriage ride out of town, she didn't talk to him about anything. Instead, she smiled and patted her legs, which were covered by her skirt, and let Shad lie down on her.
"Do you want to rest for a bit? It will take some time to get out of the city."
Spring is now at its best. As they travel through the countryside outside Tobesk, the warm breeze carries the distinctive scents of the countryside, but neither Shad nor Lacey cares.
The grove of trees connecting the village and the cemetery is now lush and green. Moonlight filters through the canopy, casting dappled shadows. Lacey looks at Shad's profile and, like Dorothy, marvels at how much has happened in less than two years.
The nameless rural cemetery also stood under the moonlight, and Mr. Copps still welcomed visitors in a rather eerie way. As Shad and Lacey walked along the straight path, less than thirty paces long, through the cemetery toward the gravedigger's hut, the wind carried the mournful wails of a woman.
The two turned to look and saw a light, white shadow rushing towards them, but then passing right through them.
"Illusion. Mr. Cops is getting less and less creative."
"Wearing a mask, Lacia said, and as she and Shad turned to look back at the gravedigger's hut, the thin, pale-faced middle-aged man who looked like he had indulged in too much debauchery had emerged from the light inside the stone house:
"Good evening, you two. What do you need this time?"
"My friend talked to you about [active metals] when he came over last night."
Shad said bluntly that he had been worried on his way here that something might go wrong again, but fortunately Mr. Copps just nodded impatiently:
"Yes, [active metal]. 3500 gold pounds, cash only."
This price is slightly higher than what Mr. Muñoz sold it to Shad for, but it's still within a reasonable range:
"No problem, shall we make the deal now?"
But Mr. Copps did not nod:
"I've stored the belongings elsewhere. I have things to take care of tonight and can't leave for the time being. Come back on Sunday."
"This"
Just as Shad was about to say he wanted to pick up the goods immediately, a series of loud thumping sounds came from the house behind Mr. Copps. The pale-faced middle-aged man immediately turned around and went back into the house. Shad and Lacey did not follow. Mr. Copps never invited anyone into that stone house.
"It went more smoothly than you expected. On the way here, weren't you saying you were worried about other problems?"
Lacey asked with a smile, and Shad was relieved:
"There have been too many unexpected events lately, so I'll raise the price later and have Mr. Copps give me the keepsake tonight. Hmm?"
He looked at the cabin in surprise, and Lacia looked over as well, but all she saw was a flickering light inside the window:
"What's wrong?"
"I sensed a distorted life force."
As they were speaking, a dark figure burst through the window. The corpse, which had been "resurrected" by the appearance of the fire seed, immediately lunged at Shad and Laceya, who possessed normal life force, after arriving outside. It was then bound and unable to move by the three binding halos thrown by Shad.
Although Iluna had described such things before, this was the first time I had actually seen one. This corpse did not have any of the chilling aura of the undead, nor did it have the "empty shell" feel of a normal corpse.
To both Shad and Lacey, aside from lacking a soul, it was not much different from a living person. It had a heartbeat, pulse, and even breath, and in Shad's perception, its vitality was even stronger than that of a normal person.
That twisted and frenzied vitality was somewhat different from the "activated machinery" that Shad had seen, but these were just abnormal manifestations of the "spark of life." Its essence was still that life that should not exist had appeared in this world.
"It is indeed a calamity."
"Lascia said softly, while Mr. Copps was still dealing with the other bodies in the cabin, and came out again a moment later.
He glanced at the corpse that had been subdued by Shad, nodded slightly, and then said to Shad:
"No need for Sunday, just come pick up the [active metal] on Friday. I really can't get away tonight."
Two days later was of no concern to Xia De; what he cared about now were the corpses.
"Mr. Cops, do you know what you're researching?"
The pale-faced middle-aged man nodded:
"I know, this abnormal manifestation of life force probably belongs to the 'calamities' that have appeared everywhere in the last two years, right? These things tried to attack the village this evening, but I caught them after I discovered them."
He did not behave like the "mad necromancer" that Shad had imagined:
“I’m just curious about this kind of thing. I’ve seen a lot of dead bodies, but this is the first time I’ve seen a living one. I’m trying to completely eliminate them, but it seems that only the purest power of death or destruction can make them disappear completely. But even so, that crazy life force will probably continue to affect the surrounding area.”
His judgment was entirely correct; if Mr. Copps was not lying, he had discovered the crux of the problem in just a few hours.
"I have a way to completely eliminate the hidden dangers."
Shad said that the "Spark" was currently in his pocket:
"I'll handle them."
Mr. Copps had no doubts and turned back to the hut, soon bringing out four "corpses." Mr. Copps had dressed all four corpses in strange masks with black patterns, and in this state, Shad could no longer sense the "life spark."
Lacey then asked on her behalf:
"These masks."
"The Grim Reaper mask, this is an antique, it's not for sale."
He placed the four "corpses" together with the one that Shad had controlled, and Shad then reached out his hand:
"Spell: Life Spark"
After casting the spell, he touched the foreheads of the five corpses in turn with his fingers, easily guiding the sparks of fire. These corpses had not yet successfully attacked other living beings, so the sparks they possessed were not particularly strong.
The five sparks gathered together only formed a small, dim flame at Shad's fingertips, which was completely incomparable to the sparks Shad had extracted from the "Life Aberration" in the sewers of the outer city of Arcadia.
In this way, he encountered all sorts of situations where the "distorted life spark" appeared in machines, corpses, and living things.
