Chapter 3868 The Unicorn of Destiny

Chapter 3868 The Unicorn of Destiny

Chapter 3868 The Unicorn of Destiny

The question raised by Denise was also Shad's question. Other chosen ones' life rings could only "transform" once, but Ellie seemed to be able to switch between the "Ouroboros" and "Apple" life rings.

Shad then looked at Luvia, and Emilia, of course, looked at her as well.

The girl with purple eyes felt confused:

"Why are you looking at me? Why do you think I know the answer? Well, I just have some guesses."

The Life Ring is a part of the soul, essentially a product of the soul's resonance with the world. The objects that appear after its transformation symbolize that the most prominent characteristic of the chosen ones' souls, after resonating with the world, is no longer the symbol of enlightened civilization, but rather the authority of the ancient gods that represents the essence of the world.

The most common outward manifestation of the god of fate in the material world is the ouroboros symbol. And now that the ouroboros can turn into apples, since the world itself hasn't changed much, it's likely that Ellie's perception has led to this outcome.

"Can this level of change be achieved simply through perception?"

Emilia asked curiously again, probably wanting to change her "tree-supported dial" as well. Shad looked at her, and the little fairy blushed, making a shy expression. In this way, everyone present except Ellie could see what had happened between her and Shad.

Luvia shook her head:

"We also need to consider Ellie's unique race and the ever-changing nature symbolized by the God of Fate. Ellie, why is it a dark golden apple?"

She finally asked the little unicorn, who blinked:

"Destiny is like an apple!"

Everyone laughed, and Luvia concluded by saying:

"I think this may also mean that Ellie did not simply inherit the power of fate; she has actually been forging her own path."

There's no conclusion yet on the topic of "Fate-Apple," but that's not a bad thing. Then, Danist asked about the two Ascended Words that Ellie had used, and Shad translated the meanings of all the runes on Ellie's Fate Ring.

Ellie herself knew the origin of each spirit rune; some came from solidified destiny, and some from connections to destiny. Both sources of spirit runes were undoubtedly manifestations of Ellie's own talent, and of course, some were gifts from the god of fate.

"The unicorn's physical abilities are truly astounding. Even if Ellie was blessed by fate on the night of the Battle of Destiny, and was able to activate two Ascensions in one battle, it is something that human Ring Mages cannot even imagine."

Finally, Danist asked Ellie:

"So, Ellie, can you still directly obtain spirit runes through the Ring of Fate or the Curved Arc?"

The girl, still wearing a white robe, nodded quickly:

"Okay! I'll have an apple!"

"What an enviable talent."

Emilia, who had just been noticed for not studying diligently lately, spoke softly, but Luvia reminded her:

"Although Ellie can still obtain spirit runes through her unique talent, don't forget that without the unrepeatable opportunities of the Battle of Destiny, Ellie still needs rituals to advance. Moreover, Ellie's advancement is too fast; although she has spirit runes, she doesn't have the corresponding magical spells, which is not a good thing."

Denise strongly agrees with this view:

“Luvia is right. Ellie’s level is high, but her foundation is not solid, which is more serious than Shad’s situation. I suggest that Ellie not continue to advance for the time being, but study at the academy for a period of time to make up for her foundation before continuing to improve her level.”

Shad nodded; this was something that had already been agreed upon beforehand.

"I won't go into detail about taking care of Ellie at the academy; you can arrange that, Danist. In that case, it's only a matter of time before Ellie advances to the thirteenth ring. After all, Fatummont Island will continue to produce Arcs of Fate and rare complete rings, and there will probably be sporadic ring beasts and the like appearing all over the world."

Only then did he remember something else:

"Little Leona can now transform into human form, but she's not a Ring Sorcerer yet, is she?"

The pointy-eared elf girl immediately said:

"She has already shown the characteristics of a gifted individual, and should be able to fully awaken her potential soon!"

"The unicorns' talents are unreasonable. If Ellie lives with the academy's species for a while, these white-haired students will jump out one after another."

Danist smiled, and then Luvia asked Ellie for more details about her talents—specifically, the special powers she possessed as a Chosen One, besides the ability to "eat apples." Ellie couldn't explain it clearly either, as she had only recently become a Chosen One and needed time to explore her powers.

This is what distinguishes Ellie from the other Chosen Ones. No matter how special their initial state was, such as Mr. Albert who was sealed, the butterfly girl in her split state, or Emilia who had two forms, they were always able to easily understand the power they possessed after becoming Chosen Ones and to manifest that power according to their own talents.

But Ellie was different. She had never been exposed to the Ring Warlock system, and wasn't even human. In the past, as a unicorn, she mostly relied on the instincts of her bloodline inherited from her race when using her powers, and even while following Chloe, she rarely explored or thought about what she was capable of.

Furthermore, since the power of unicorns is inherently subjective, Ellie, now that she has become a chosen one, doesn't really understand what she is capable of. This doesn't mean she doesn't possess the power, but rather that she doesn't know how to wield it. For now, she can only rely on instinct to do things that bring good fortune to herself and her companions, and misfortune to her enemies.

As a diviner, Luvia understands very well that using the power of fate requires extremely diligent study and a great deal of practice.

Therefore, although Ellie fully possessed the power of the Chosen Ones, was not sealed, and was not a split entity, she also had her own problems, namely, that she could not fully unleash her power due to her race.

"Why does it feel like there's something wrong with all the other chosen ones, except for Iluna?"

Shad thought to himself that the only solution to Ellie's problem was to let her study.

"Ellie is a very smart child."

As everyone discussed Ellie's school enrollment, Winnie, who was standing to the side holding a teacup, spoke up. Shad, of course, believed the Ice Maid's opinion; he was simply reluctant to subject the innocent and carefree little unicorn to rigorous academic training.

"You don't need to worry about that. The academy will develop a targeted learning plan for Ellie, and it will definitely not be as tough as Emilia's and the others'."

"Dannister said with a smile," the pointy-eared elf said hesitantly.

"Professor, then I..."

"No."

"Oh~"

However, at least Ellie's future is not a concern for anyone. She will become stronger as long as she studies, which is something that no one else can match.

Moreover, she even already knew her own words of sublimation:

"The chosen one knows through the ritual! [The story's end, the stars guide the destiny's return!]"

The little unicorn explained that her three core spirit runes were originally [Unicorn], [Luck], and [Connection], but after the Chosen One ritual, Enlightenment-[Luck] disappeared and was replaced by Miracle-[Destiny]. This was something that had never happened to previous Chosen Ones, but it was understandable upon closer examination.

After all, luck is part of fate.

Denise recorded the words of ascension to make it easier to plan lessons for Ellie later:

"This way, St. Byron will have two chosen ones enrolled. The next step is to decide whether to send Ellie to the Astronomy Department or to the Chemistry Department like Emilia. However, considering the high probability that other unicorns will enroll later, and for ease of management..."

Daniste pondered, while Luvia took Ellie's hand and began talking to her about the "Whispering Verses." Although Ellie pretended to listen attentively, Shad could tell she was only faking it to impress.

He had initially worried that the little unicorn wouldn't understand, but after Luvia finished speaking, Ellie nodded rapidly:

"Help Shad! Chloe's mission!"

Hearing her say that, Luvia was relieved. After each major event, she would talk to the chosen ones. This time, it seemed that Ellie hadn't fully understood, but as long as she continued to trust Shad completely, that was enough.

Then they chatted about other things about Ellie, such as her preferred accommodations and her thoughts on joining the unicorn herd in St. Byron. Ellie didn't seem to mind and was willing to answer any questions.

Shad then worried that she might be bullied at the academy because of her kind nature. Daniste couldn't watch her 24/7, and outsiders were well-read and knew many stories about bullying in magic academies.

“Shad, does Saint Byron have such a bad image in your eyes? I admit there may be a few such problems in the academy, but with me here, Ellie won’t be bullied.”

Daniste assured Shad that Emilia would take care of Ellie.

Luvia smiled and told Shad not to worry. As it turned out, Luvia was right again. It wasn't until Ellie actually enrolled that Shad understood just how terrifying the little unicorn, blessed by fate, truly was—any malice would vanish before it even touched her, and fate protected her friends and punished her enemies.

After finishing their discussion, it was nearly 11 a.m. Daniste and Emilia left to attend to their respective matters, while Luvia took Ellie to find Bella, hoping to make some alchemical tools for Ellie before Bella returned to Moon Bay.

Before Emilia left, Shad held her hand and said a few words. The little elf was still shy at first, but she quickly adjusted her mood. After all, Ellie and little Leanna would be accompanying her to school, which made the originally boring school life more interesting.

As for Ellie's specific enrollment date, Daniste wanted to schedule it for next week. Today was Sunday, and she had promised Shad to finish up her work as soon as possible before heading to Mount Karas, so Ellie's enrollment matters needed to be dealt with quickly.
