Chapter 3707 "The White Snake"

Chapter 3707 "The White Snake"

Chapter 3707 "The White Snake"

Margaret, feeling she had said too much, wanted to apologize to Shad, but Shad said:

"I've been neglecting you a bit. You're so far away in Velendel, and I haven't been able to visit you often. I'm just hearing about what's going on in your life right now, it's nothing. If we had some time, I'd love to go out with you to see the snow-capped mountains and maybe browse around the upscale pocket watch shops in Time Wheel City."

"It's not that you've neglected me, it's that I've neglected you."

Margaret glanced at the closed door, bit her lip, kicked off her high heels, and curled up on the sofa, leaning against Shad's chest. Shad swore he hadn't done it on purpose, but he noticed that Margaret's skirt was made of the finest fabric from "The Magnificent Fabrics," an expensive material reserved only for the ladies of the noble families of Willendale. Margaret had probably gotten it directly from Sylvia.

"Who will you be resting with when you get home tonight?"

"Your Highness asked in a low voice," Shad thought for a moment, "and then..."

"Galina, Dorothy. Sylvia hasn't seen me in a long time, she should be coming home with me too."

She moved her head from across Shad's chest to a position level with his head, her beautiful eyes filled with resentment:

"Sir Silvia, that was clearly my chance."

She kissed the corner of Shad's lips, then leaned close to Shad's ear and asked:

"Although this is very bold, what kind of expression will Ms. Sylvia have if she sees my lipstick mark tonight?"

"That's hard to say."

The blonde princess then winked:

"Would you like to try it?"

"This"

So the golden-haired princess gave her another kiss and then carried out her plan. Hours later, when the moon was high in the sky above Tobesk, Sylvia saw the mark and asked in surprise:

Didn't you just go to wash up?

"Yes, but she said she insisted you see it. Don't worry, I've washed everything off except for this hickey."

Sylvia then asked Galina, who was hugging Shad from behind:

"Guess who left this?"

With her eyes closed and her hair loose, the duchess resting her head on Shad's shoulder answered:

“Margaret, who else could it be but her? Didn’t Shad spend a lot of time alone with that girl tonight?”

Sylvia then laughed:

"It seems Margaret is still grumbling about what happened before the year-end holiday. Well, I'll forgive her this time. Margaret's behavior is really childish. But she's also quite bold. Girls these days are really something else."

Xia De then said:

"I'll go clean it up. I would never have done this if Margaret hadn't insisted."

"No, I've already caught you, I won't let you go."

"That's what Jialina said from behind," she said, locking her arms around Xia De and refusing to let go. Xia De felt that she was still more childlike now.

Sylvia also held Shad's shoulder, the black-haired young witch completely unconcerned:

"It's alright, it's even better this way. Since the young witch apprentice has challenged the Great Witch, I will naturally prove that the Great Witch is indeed the Great Witch."

"How are you going to prove it?"

Sylvia reached up and tidied her hair before answering matter-of-factly:

"Of course, it's to prove that my lipstick color is more vibrant."

Jialina, whose eyes were still closed behind Shad, reminded him:

“Sylvia, didn’t Lacia teach you that technique?”

Sylvia didn't answer her, but Shad clearly felt Galina shudder behind him and make a sound like Mia's meow. However, the cat was resting downstairs with the maids tonight and couldn't possibly be here now.

That night, Shad had another strange dream—this kind of thing was very common these days, and this time he dreamed of a giant snake in a snowy mountain.

This was definitely not the effect of pre-sleep activities. In his dream, a giant serpent slowly slid across the snow-covered Mount Fatumunster. Judging by its size, it was probably larger than any snake Shad had ever seen before. Its eyes were red, and the whole snake looked exceptionally delicate and cute.

Shad never imagined he would use those two words to describe a snake, so much so that when he woke up early Wednesday morning, he wondered if he was under too much stress lately, which was why he had such a strange dream.

He shared his dream with the girls at the breakfast table, and they didn't laugh at him. Sylvia pointed out:

“Yesterday, such a strong disturbance of destiny occurred on the island. Didn’t Luvia and Bella say that powerful ring sorcerers would be more likely to discover the secrets hidden in destiny because of such disturbances? Perhaps this is a precognitive dream. Haven’t you had many precognitive dreams before?”

"But what could the great white snake signify? Was it urging me to use that leaf and master the magic of turning into a snake as soon as possible?"

The answer to this question was found an hour later.

Sylvia went ahead, and when Shad arrived on the island, he found the sky above it still a deep purple. The weather was exceptionally bad today; although it wasn't a blizzard under Sylvia's tower, the snow was already at the level of "heavy snow."

Last night's disturbance of fate did not bring about secondary disasters like earthquakes that ordinary people could feel, but when Xia De looked out over the scenery from the top of the snow-capped mountain, he still felt that this place was somewhat different from before.

He first went to the Ice Castle from Sylvia's tower, and then he was surprised to find that Winnie, who always waited for him in the portal room and said "good morning" before leaving, was not there.

When Shad arrived at the Snow Mountain Hall from the castle, he learned from Stella that Winnie had gone to the ship:

"The maid said that she had made contact with the guardian of the snow mountain seal, but the guardian is very cautious now. The guardian is one of the insurance measures left by the ancient god, and it treats all current candidates the same way. It is unwilling to meet with any candidate in private."

"But I'm not a candidate."

Shad said with a smile, and Stella nodded slightly, then whispered:

"The grand ceremony of destiny will probably take place this weekend."

"I'll be with you then. I've been practicing the silver flute lately, and maybe I'll be able to play a little bit sometime. If I don't play it well, you can't laugh at me."

The white-haired girl, who had been somewhat worried, smiled faintly and nodded slightly. She actually wanted to ask Shad what he had done in Margaret's room last night, but in the end, she was too embarrassed to ask. Instead, she went with Shad to visit Ellie and little Leona.

The mutation on the island yesterday didn't affect them much, since the little unicorns don't have life rings. Although their powerful senses, like Mia's, allow them to detect unusual disturbances, it doesn't harm their health.

After visiting them, Shad wanted to go to the ship to meet Winnie, but Ellie grabbed Shad's clothes again.

"What's wrong?"

Shad stroked its cheek, and Ellie whimpered softly. Although Emilia wasn't there, and no one could understand what it was saying, Shad, having spent so much time with Ellie, could guess what it meant:

"Are you worried about my safety?"

The little unicorn nodded, and Stella smiled and said:

"Ellie, don't worry about Shad, Shad is very capable."

Xia De also said with a smile:

"Yes, you don't need to worry about me. If a fight really breaks out later, I might be able to call your master over. You miss Chloe a lot, right?"

"Ang~"

Ellie continued to call softly, her unicorn resting against Shad's arm, and then pure white light spread across Shad's body. This was the "Blessing of the Unicorn," a protective power bestowed upon friends by unicorns.

Shad expressed his gratitude:

"Thank you, I will carry your blessing and defeat the enemy."

"But you still haven't found the Ring of Fate."

Stella said with some concern, and Shad shook his head:

"We'll find it. Let's go, let's get on the boat."

After saying goodbye to the little unicorns, they left. Ellie and little Leona craned their necks to watch them disappear. Then little Leona let out a "woof~", and Ellie also let out a "woof~". Little Leona let out another "woof~", and Ellie also let out a "woof~".

After this conversation, Ellie felt relieved and continued playing with little Leanna in the unicorn's den. Although so many years had passed since the beginning of the Fifth Age, the unicorns' bloodline had not been greatly weakened, except for being suppressed by the times.

If dragons are powerful creatures renowned for their strength, then unicorns are fairytale-like beings known for their fantasy and idealism. No one has ever been able to fully understand the power of these pure white creatures, but Ellie confirmed with Leona that the current unicorn population can still accomplish certain things.

A large enough unicorns gathered together, and last time they even helped Ellie dispel the negative effects of the "birthroom fluid"—although Ellie's own constitution also played a part in this.

Belief is magic. Although she came alone from the distant Fifth Age, Ellie was not without support. The unicorns of the Sixth Age welcomed this "ancient" kin; they were the strength behind Ellie.

Meanwhile, when Shad and Stella braved the wind and snow to arrive at the ship, Luvia was talking to Winnie at the long table in the banquet hall. Shad then realized that this seemed to be a rare private conversation between Luvia and Winnie, but the atmosphere seemed quite pleasant.

Seeing that Shad had arrived, Luvia and Winnie looked over together. Shad asked:

"Winnie, you've contacted the Guardian, right? How is it doing?"
