Chapter 176 You Stay
Chapter 176 You Stay
As soon as Zhou Yanruo stepped out of the treatment room, she received two phone calls. One was from Fang Xichen, inquiring about Shang Yibo's injury. Zhou Yanruo truthfully told her that he was currently undergoing examinations at the hospital, and the results were not yet available. Zhou Yanruo was puzzled as to how quickly Fang Xichen had received the news. But then she thought about it and realized it wasn't surprising. An accident on set would definitely be reported to Shen Yihua immediately. Shen Yihua couldn't cover up Shang Yibo's situation and wouldn't dare to be negligent. Therefore, her first priority would undoubtedly be to quickly notify Fang Xichen, probably accompanied by various explanations and expressions of heartache.
The other call was from Qi Qingnan. She sounded very guilty, feeling responsible for the whole thing and deeply sorry to Shang Yibo. Zhou Yanruo quickly comforted her, "Whether it was an accident or a mishap, it has nothing to do with you, Qi Qingnan. You just signed a business contract out of professional obligation. Now that something's happened, don't try to take the blame." Hanging up, Zhou Yanruo reflected. Qi Qingnan was a kind person at heart, unable to bear seeing others suffer, especially since it was because of her, even though that was just her opinion, and she didn't actually think it was a big deal.
Both of them asked which hospital Shang Yibo was in and offered to come visit, but Zhou Yanruo politely declined, saying, "Shang Yibo is doing quite well. There are already enough people here, so it's better to keep a low profile. We'll let everyone know as soon as the test results are available."
She was on the phone, and Ding Jiajia was listening intently, her expression tense. She was afraid Fang Xichen would get angry; she had seen this President Fang before—beneath her amiable exterior lay a vengeful heart.
Hong Yun and Zhou Zihang found a relatively quiet spot and had already placed the food and drinks on their overturned suitcase, ready to feast.
Zhou Yanruo hung up the phone, found a seat nearby, rubbed her temples, and leaned back in her chair.
Zhou Zihang walked over, stood in front of her, and handed her a small bowl of soup. "Have some soup. You haven't eaten for more than ten hours. You must be starving."
Zhou Yanruo waved her hand, "I can't drink it."
Zhou Zihang held a bottle of mineral water in his other hand and handed it to Zhou Yanruo, saying, "Then you should drink some water first."
Zhou Yanruo took the bottled water, opened it, and drank half of it in one gulp. "Go take care of Hong Yun and the others. I'll rest for a while." Then, she said to Ding Jiajia, who was standing to the side at a loss, "You go too, have something to eat with Hong Yun."
Zhou Zihang said, "Then close your eyes for a while and rest." After saying that, he pulled Ding Jiajia to the side to find Hong Yun.
"Sister Yanruo, so you were on the second floor. We've been looking for you in the emergency room for ages."
Zhou Yanruo opened her eyes upon hearing the sound and saw Zhang Xiaoguang walking over with a travel bag in his hand, followed by a tall, slender woman in casual sportswear. As she got closer, she realized that the woman was Shen Yihua, the boss of Yihua Entertainment.
Zhang Xiaoguang stepped forward and explained to Zhou Yanruo, "Sister Yanruo, President Shen was worried and asked me which hospital Teacher Yibo was taken to, so I brought her along."
Zhou Yanruo nodded, stood up and walked towards Shen Yihua, greeting him, "President Shen, it's so late and you still came all this way in person."
Shen Yihua asked with concern, "President Zhou, how could I not come? With Yibo in such an accident, how could I just stay at home and watch? How is Yibo now? I heard he injured his arm, is it serious?"
Zhou Yanruo, "He also sprained his ankle. He's inside, and the doctor is examining him."
Shen Yihua: "Your foot is injured too? I'll go in and take a look."
Just as she was about to step into the treatment room, Hua Xiaomei pushed the door open and came out, "Who is in charge here?"
Zhou Yanruo and Shen Yihua exchanged a glance, and Zhou Yanruo said, "Dr. Hua, tell me."
Hua Xiaomei explained, "The patient's right arm injury was not very serious. After cleaning the wound, we found that the actual deep cut was not long; it was a superficial injury, meaning the cut was irregular and the wound area was relatively large. To ensure good wound healing and reduce scarring, we still performed suturing, but the number of stitches was not large."
Ding Jiajia couldn't help but interject, "How many stitches did you get?"
Hua Xiaomei said, "There are only twelve stitches in total."
"Ten or twelve stitches? You say it's not serious with so many stitches?"
Hua Xiaomei smiled slightly, "Oh, I closed the dead space, repaired the wound edges, and stopped the bleeding. Then I used a subcutaneous tension-reducing suture technique from plastic surgery. Because his wound was complex, I also applied a local pressure bandage after suturing. All of these are to prevent the wound from leaving obvious scars after healing."
Everyone was completely confused by Dr. Hua's explanation of her professional surgical techniques, but they all understood her last sentence: "It won't leave obvious scars."
Seeing that no one was asking any more questions, Hua Xiaomei continued, "The patient's foot injury is not to be ignored. Based on my initial palpation and questioning, my professional judgment is that the sprain may be more serious than just a soft tissue sprain; it may involve bone damage. Of course, further examination with X-rays is needed to confirm this."
While they were talking, Zhang Xiaoguang had already gone into the treatment room, helped Shang Yibo change his clothes, and was pushing the wheelchair out.
Shang Yibo changed into a large black cotton coat, wore a fisherman's hat, and a mask. As soon as he was wheeled out of the treatment room, he felt a little uncomfortable under the intense stares of everyone in front of him. "What are so many people doing here? This is too much. You should all go back. If you want to stay, just one person." He then gestured with his chin towards Zhou Yanruo, "Zhou Yanruo, can you stay and come with me for the checkup?"
Shen Yihua walked to the wheelchair and said with concern, "Yibo, how are you feeling? It must hurt a lot. I will definitely make them investigate the matter thoroughly and hold them accountable on set. If it affects your schedule, I will seek compensation from them. I have already arranged for Lao Jie to handle this matter; there must be an explanation."
Shang Yibo only noticed the person standing in front of him when he heard Shen Yihua speak. "Even President Shen is here. This little injury is really nothing to worry about." After saying that, he looked at Zhou Yanruo for help.
“President Shen, you’ve seen Shang Yibo. He’s doing well so far. Why don’t you go back first? I’ll report back to you if anything happens.” Zhou Yanruo said to Shen Yihua, then said to the others, “Everyone, please don’t stay here. You’ve all worked hard. We don’t need that many people here. Zhang Xiaoguang and I will stay. You can all go back first.”
Everyone agreed that Zhou Yanruo's words made sense, and after a brief discussion, Zhou Yanruo and Zhou Zihang ultimately stayed to accompany Shang Yibo through his follow-up examinations.
Zhou Yanruo was specifically requested by Shang Yibo to stay. Zhou Zihang and Hua Xiaomei are senior and junior classmates, so she can be well taken care of in the hospital. Also, having a man to help take care of her will make things more convenient for Shang Yibo.
As Hua Xiaomei watched everyone leave, she smiled and said to Zhou Zihang, "Brother Zihang, didn't you just return to China? When did you meet such a lovely group of people?"
Then, turning to Zhou Yanruo, who was already standing behind the wheelchair, he said, "I've arranged for an X-ray. Let's go, we can get the X-ray done now. The radiology department is on the first floor."
Zhou Zihang walked to the back of the wheelchair and reached out to take the wheelchair handle, saying, "Let me push it."
"Need not."
Zhou Yanruo and Shang Yibo said almost in unison.
