Chapter 112 Extra (What if Pixiu joined the 81 Tribulations?)
Chapter 112 Extra (What if Pixiu joined the 81 Tribulations?)
(Note: This side story is unrelated to the main plot. The first 800+ words are a recap; those familiar with Journey to the West can skip this part.)
It was late autumn, with red leaves fluttering in the air, abundant harvests, and a slightly cool breeze.
After leaving Fengxian County, Tang Sanzang and his disciples traveled for several days and arrived at a new city.
Just as they were wondering where they were, they happened to meet an old man, and Tang Sanzang dismounted to ask him for advice.
According to the old man, this place is Yuhua County, a lower prefecture of the Kingdom of Tianzhu, and the lord of the county is Yuhua King, a member of the royal family of the Emperor of Tianzhu.
This king respects Buddhism and Taoism and cares for his people. When Tang Sanzang arrives, he will surely be treated with hospitality.
Tang Sanzang was overjoyed upon hearing this. After expressing his gratitude, he led his disciples into the city.
Upon arriving at the Yuhua Prince's Mansion, Tang Sanzang told Wukong and the others to rest in the guesthouse while he went to pay his respects to the prince and exchange the travel documents.
Seeing that the monk had an extraordinary appearance, the prince ordered his men to prepare a vegetarian meal to entertain him.
Tang Sanzang bowed and said that he had three disciples. Upon hearing this, the prince summoned the three brothers.
Upon meeting them, he was greatly surprised; all three of them had inhuman appearances, resembling demons.
After Tang Sanzang explained, the prince, still somewhat skeptical, arranged for them to have a meal at the Baosha Pavilion.
There were three princes in the palace, all of whom were warlike and fond of martial arts.
When the three returned to the manor today, they found the prince looking terrified, so they asked him what had happened.
Upon learning the whole story, the three were furious, exclaiming that this was no monk at all, but rather a monster from the mountains.
At this point, the three princes took their weapons and prepared to question him.
The eldest prince wielded a staff that reached his eyebrows, the second prince held a nine-toothed rake, and the third prince swung a jet-black stick. The three of them stormed into the Baosha Pavilion with menacing air.
Tang Sanzang was shocked to see this, and hurriedly explained after hearing the purpose of the visit.
On the contrary, Wukong and Bajie were tempted to tease the three princes when they saw their weapons.
The second senior brother took out his weapon and displayed his martial arts skills. Sha Wujing also joined in the fun. The three princes were impressed and wanted to become their disciples.
With the prince's consent, the three princes became disciples of Wukong, Bajie, and Sha Wujing, respectively.
When Wukong first took on his disciples, he blew a breath of immortal energy on the three of them, making them incredibly strong.
As a result, their original weapons were no longer suitable, so the three of them asked to borrow the weapons of Wukong and the others and have three new ones made according to their design. The three brothers readily agreed.
Therefore, King Yuhua summoned blacksmiths, bought steel, and forged weapons day and night, the clanging sounds never ceasing.
The three divine weapons—the Golden Cudgel, the Nine-Toothed Rake, and the Demon-Subduing Staff—were displayed in the open air, radiating countless rays of light and auspicious energy, which startled some beasts in the Pixiu Cave of the neighboring Caiyun Mountain.
The night was deep, and several blacksmiths were fast asleep, their hammers in hand. Three divine weapons lay to the side, their precious light shimmering in the darkness.
A figure silently descended from the sky on a cloud. He stared at the three divine weapons, his dark green eyes lit up, and saliva dripped down his cheeks.
The next day, when the blacksmiths awoke, they were horrified to find that the three divine weapons were gone.
Soon after, the entire household was alarmed and searched everywhere, but to no avail. In the end, they all gathered at the place where the weapon was lost.
"What thief at night? I think it was these blacksmiths stealing from each other!"
Unable to find a weapon for a long time, Pigsy became anxious and began to suspect the blacksmiths, raising his hand to capture them.
The blacksmiths, terrified at the sight, hurriedly begged for mercy: "It's a misunderstanding, elder! Even if you gave us those weapons, we couldn't lift them!"
Tang Sanzang, upon hearing this, realized it made sense and stopped Bajie from taking action.
The prince frowned and said, "That shouldn't be the case. The people of my city are honest and kind. What petty thief would be so audacious as to dare to steal from the Prince's mansion?"
Wukong asked, "Are there any monsters in this area?"
After experiencing so many hardships, Sun Wukong came to a conclusion: whenever he encountered strange things, it was almost certainly the work of monsters.
The prince pondered for a moment and said, "There are no monsters, but there is a Caiyun Mountain 40 li east of the city, which is said to be associated with auspicious omens."
Upon hearing this, Wukong flew into a rage: "What auspicious omen? I think it's just that monster in disguise! You two protect Master, I'm going to investigate."
As soon as he finished speaking, Sun Wukong mounted his somersault cloud and soared into the sky, disappearing in the blink of an eye, leaving only a white trail in mid-air.
Before long, Sun Wukong arrived above Caiyun Mountain and hid in the clouds to observe quietly.
This mountain is densely wooded and rich in spiritual energy. Indeed, there is an auspicious aura surrounding it, and it is not to be tolerated if it carries any demonic energy.
Wukong was filled with doubt: Could it be that there really is a Kana here?
Just then, a conversation reached his ears. Sun Wukong looked down and saw a wolf demon and a weasel demon coming down the mountain together.
Upon seeing this, a thought struck him, and he used his transformation technique to turn into a butterfly and follow them to eavesdrop on the conversation between the two demons.
The wolf demon exclaimed excitedly, "I finally managed to snag this job of going down the mountain to buy chickens. Once we get to the city, let's go have some fun first. Old Sheep gave us over 20 taels of silver, which should be enough."
The weasel, looking eager, chimed in, "Brother Yue, where shall we go for fun?"
Having followed the two demons all the way, Wukong still hadn't heard the information he needed. His patience gradually wore thin, and finally he simply revealed his true form and raised his hand to freeze the two demons before questioning them.
Sun Wukong suddenly appeared, and the wolf demon and the weasel were frozen in place before they could react.
However, to Wukong's surprise, a golden light suddenly flashed across the two demons, breaking their immobilization spell.
The air suddenly became quiet. Sun Wukong and the two demons who had turned around stared at each other awkwardly. His tried-and-true move had been broken. Could it be that these two little demons were actually quite powerful?
Thinking of this, Sun Wukong raised his fist.
Shortly after,
A gentle breeze rustled through the trees, and the wolf demon and the weasel lay motionless on the ground, their faces bruised and swollen, several of their teeth knocked out.
Wukong examined the waist tokens and 20 taels of silver he had taken from the two demons.
The wolf demon and the weasel had confessed everything they could under the iron fist.
On Caiyun Mountain, there is a Pixiu Cave, where three Pixiu live. They are revered as the three leaders by the people and demons on the mountain, and are named Bixie, Tianlu, and Baijie.
Pixiu loves to eat gold and silver treasures, so Wukong and the others' weapons were most likely stolen by the second-in-command, who is known for his love of food. The golden light was the work of the third-in-command, but the two lesser demons didn't know the specifics.
Wukong picked up the waist tokens and examined them. One was engraved with "Yue Tian" and the other with "Huang Jiu". The former was the wolf demon's waist token and the latter was the weasel's.
Wukong's eyes darted around as he made up his mind. He used the immobilization spell again, but this time no golden light appeared. The two little demons, Yue Tian and Huang Jiu, were immobilized.
On Rainbow Cloud Mountain, a figure rode the clouds and flew away swiftly into the distance.
Sun Wukong left, leaving only two lesser demons frozen in place.
Unable to move, Yue Tian watched as Wukong flew into the sky and felt a pang of relief, silently cursing that the damned monkey would be severely punished by the three leaders.
Both he and Huang Jiu had some information they had withheld. What they said were things that were common knowledge about the monsters on the mountain, and since they were very close to the three Pixiu, they naturally knew even more, but they didn't say it.
Wukong rode the cloud back to the Jade Flower Prince's Mansion. He found the prince, asked for dozens of chickens, and then took Bajie and Sha Wujing to Caiyun Mountain again.
Upon arriving at their destination, Wukong disguised himself as Yue Tian, Bajie as Huang Jiu, and Sha Wujing as a fully-fledged merchant. The three of them herded dozens of chickens up the mountain together.
A cave is located halfway up the mountain. A plaque above the cave reads "Pixiu Cave". When Wukong and his companions arrived at this place, they happened to encounter three Pixiu coming out of the cave.
"You're back! You're back. Huh? And you brought back a mud-covered person? Uh!"
Tianlu looked at the merchant dressed as Sha Wujing with disdain, and even burped twice as he spoke.
Wukong explained, "We spent 25 taels of silver to buy the chicken, but we only brought 20 taels with us, so we brought him here to make up the difference."
Upon hearing this, Tianlu responded with an "oh," and casually beckoned to the little demon beside him to fetch the silver, while still hiccuping incessantly as he spoke.
Taking the opportunity, Wukong asked, "Second Master, what's wrong? Why are you hiccuping?"
Unable to understand Tianlu's answer, Baijie interjected, "What else could it be? He went out and ate random things again last night. Apparently, there's some treasure in the neighboring city. He went there and has been delayed ever since he came back."
Wukong and the other two exchanged glances, basically confirming that Tianlu had eaten the three weapons.
"By the way..." Bai Jie looked back and forth at Wukong and the other two, and suddenly asked in confusion, "Where is the supernatural power I gave you? Why can't I sense it?"
Wukong remained calm, as he had anticipated this situation.
"On the way back, we encountered monsters who wanted to steal our chickens. We fought them and exhausted our supernatural powers."
This is true. When Wukong was beating those two little sheep, he discovered that whenever his attack was too powerful, golden light would appear to block it, but it seemed that his magic power was exhausted and it stopped appearing.
"What kind of luck do you guys have? I've already given you all superpowers, and you still managed to run into a robbery."
He didn't question Bai Jie, and after offering a single sarcastic remark, he didn't pursue the matter further.
Just then, the little demon brought the silver. Wukong made up an excuse, saying that the road was dangerous and he needed to see the merchants off. Then he left with Bajie and Sha Wujing.
Just as they were out of the three Pixiu's perception range, Bajie couldn't hold back and grabbed Wukong urgently.
"What do we do, Monkey King? Our weapons have been eaten!"
"Don't be impatient, you idiot."
Wukong pushed Bajie away with his backhand and said.
"Our weapons are all extraordinary divine weapons, which the Pixiu could not digest, so they should still be inside her stomach."
“Here’s what we’ll do: Brother Sha, you and Pigsy will pretend to be little demons, and I’ll find a chance to sneak into the belly of that Pixiu. Once we get the weapons, things will be much easier.”
After devising a plan, the three immediately sprang into action. Sha Wujing transformed into the moon, and Sun Wukong transformed into a flea and hid in his fur.
The three returned to the Pixiu Cave, just as the meal was being served inside.
in the cave,
The little demons came and went, bringing various dishes to the table.
Numerous luminous pearls, each the size of a longan, are inlaid on the cave ceiling, scattered like stars, casting a faint glow, though it seems a few are missing.
Three Pixiu sat together on a tiger-skin chair. Tianlu and Baijie were engrossed in their meal, while Bixie occasionally served them food.
In front of the three beasts, the lesser demons had set up an open space. In the center, two demons were fighting. They were wielding weapons and their attacks were aimed straight at vital points without holding back. The lesser demons were thrilled and cheered.
A flash of golden light appeared in the arena, indicating that one of the monsters in the duel had been struck in a vital spot, but under the protection of the golden light, he was not in mortal danger.
The battle was over. The two demons put away their weapons and retreated from the arena, allowing another pair of demons to enter the fray.
While they were eating, Bai Jie didn't even look up. With a casual wave of his hand, two golden beams fell and shone on the newly entered monsters before disappearing.
The two demons, who were prepared, charged into battle in an instant. Their swords clashed and they fought fiercely, drawing cheers from the surrounding lesser demons once again.
In a corner,
To avoid attracting attention and being exposed, Pigsy and Sandy hid here, while Monkey King transformed into a fly and quietly approached the three Pixiu.
"Second Senior Brother, Eldest Senior Brother has crawled into that wine glass."
Sha Wujing observed the direction of the three Pixiu and clearly saw Wukong crawl into the wine cup.
After waiting for a while, Pigsy did not respond, but instead a strange sound came from the side.
Sha Wujing turned around in confusion and saw his second brother, who had somehow brought out food and fruit and was now eating voraciously.
"Second Brother, what are you doing!" Sha Wujing exclaimed in surprise.
Only then did Pigsy raise his head, his face still covered in rice grains.
He wiped his mouth and laughed, "It's just that my uncle was hungry at mealtime, so he grabbed something to eat."
"But all of this is vegetarian, no meat at all."
"By the way, Brother Sha, would you like to eat something first? You'll have more energy for the fight later."
Sha Wujing didn't say anything, but silently took a step back and stared at Bajie's back.
Pigsy didn't understand what his junior brother meant, but the next second, an old voice sounded behind him.
"Little Jiu, what are you doing here all alone? Are you planning something mischievous again?"
Pigsy turned around in surprise, and a goat spirit leaning on a cane was standing behind him.
"Did we run into someone this little demon knows? What should we do? I have no idea what their relationship is!"
Pigsy's mind raced. He flew frantically, trying to find clues, and combined this with the attitudes of the monsters he had encountered before towards those in power. After thinking it over, he finally spoke.
"Oh, it's Grandpa Sheep! How could I dare? You've misunderstood."
"Ok?"
The old goat was completely bewildered: Has this little brat lost his mind, or is he up to something again?
Looking around instinctively, the old goat noticed that Yue Tian was standing next to him, so he asked directly.
"What happened to Huang Jiu? Did you damage his brain?"
Sha Wujing remained silent. How could he possibly answer? Should he say that he had a pig's brain and asked if he would mind?
at the same time,
In his gluttonous state, Tianlu casually picked up a glass of wine and drank it down in one gulp, completely unaware that a small insect had been mixed in with the wine and gone into his stomach.
Inside Tianlu's abdomen,
The liquor rained down from the sky, and a tiny insect mixed in with it transformed back into Sun Wukong. He landed slowly, looking around in astonishment.
Gold and jade piled up like mountains, each towering and gleaming with golden light, while silver flowed like rivers within them, eventually merging into a sea of silver.
Sparkling with jewels, countless pearls, agates, jade, and other precious stones are scattered among the gold and silver mountains, serving as embellishments.
Even more dazzling light shone from the sky, and all kinds of celestial treasures shone brightly, standing out among countless mortal treasures.
Sun Wukong was dazzled by what he saw, gained a clear understanding of the Pixiu's ability to devour wealth from all directions, and was deeply impressed.
Suddenly, his gaze shifted and he saw three beams of light. Wukong leaped forward and saw the Golden Cudgel, the Nine-Toothed Rake, and the Demon-Subduing Staff.
