This man was not at all gentle and treated Meng Anzhi roughly. When he saw how loose she had become, he couldn’t help but pull her by her hair. "Keep it down," said one of the men with a frown on his face. "If someone hears her screams from outside, they will definitely come looking for the source of the noise."
Some of the men were worried that Meng Anzhi would attract the attention of the patrolling ability users; if this matter were brought up in front of Bai Meiyue, then there was a good chance that they would be kicked out of this safe base.
"Why are you afraid?" said the man who was tormenting Meng Anzhi. "This bitch came to serve us on her own; we did not force her at all. Worst comes to worst, we will make this woman admit it with her own mouth. Anyway, she is not the first one who sold herself into prostitution for the sake of a mouthful of rice. Bai Meiyue shrugged. She said in a low voice, "I have been busy dealing with a lot of things. You know that I am already dealing with the mutated bugs and whatnot."
"I am pregnant," said Shen Zhen with a sigh. "I did not tell anyone about this matter, so don’t tell anyone."
"Not even Lu Yu?" Bai Meiyue asked with a frown.
"Especially him."
"But why?"
"The foetus seems to be unstable," replied Shen Zhen with a worried look in her eyes. "I have been spotting for the past few days. I am afraid that the child might not be able to stay."
She placed the book in her hands onto the table in front of her and expressionlessly said, "For the first time, I realised how heartless I sounded when I told the women who were going to lose their children. I often told them that at times like these, there was nothing wrong with the weak foetus getting aborted on its own. That in this world, it was all about the survival of the fittest. Only now that I am in a situation similar to them did I realise how reluctant I am to watch this weak foetus leaving me."
