Chapter 780. Visiting the edge region 1.
Kailen melded with the void and disappeared from his villa after contacting Julian. The two met shortly after that and left the empire. Very soon, they arrived in outer space with a lot of celestial bodies surrounding them.
"Chaotic beasts are present in the starry sea of the chaotic universe. We need to be very careful," Julian said.
Kailen nodded.
Since they were visiting the edge region first, Julian would naturally be in charge of navigation. A space ship appeared before Julian. He had taken it from his secret realm. The two disappeared into the spaceship.
Under Julian’s direction, Kailen would occasionally use the principle of space to make the spaceship cross large distances in a few moments. Currently, the two were conversing in the spaceship.
Julian sighed. "I was once married, you know."
Kailen was quiet, listening.
"She died. Clan politics. If only I had not gotten involved, my wife would not have become collateral damage," Julian shook his head. A melancholic chuckle emerged from his lips. He had this dry, empty aura around him suddenly.
Kailen patted him on the back. "Sorry, man."
Julian nodded. "Thanks, Kailen. You know what sucks?"
Kailen was silent. Julian continued.
"I eventually had my revenge and slaughtered those who killed her and became the head of the Seir Clan, one of the most influential vampire clans in the Andromodos region of the edge region of the universe. But I had never felt so empty in my life."
A glint flashed through Kailen’s eyes as he listened.
"I’m really fortunate that throughout every odyssey I’ve faced, Arrie has not faced the same fate as Julian’s wife," Kailen thought. "I can’t imagine what he’s going through."
Julian chuckled dryly, right leg leaning on the other as he stared into the ceiling of the spaceship. "What was the point of having so much power when the one you wanted to share it with was not present with you? You get what I mean, Kailen?"
Kailen nodded. "Yeah, man."
It would really suck to be in that kind of situation. Julian had really been through a lot, Kailen thought.
Julian continued, "Eventually, I realized I have to try and move on, at least. I channeled all the pain into cultivation. Didn’t even know I had an innate transcendent ability, until I got to the Rank 7 supreme-stage universe level, and I naturally discovered it. Perfect distraction, huh."
Kailen nodded. "Mmm."
"So I became a Transcendent, left clan matters to my son, and came to the chaotic region. So far, so good. At least, I don’t cry about her loss as I used to. I’m even a playboy now and all," Julian chuckled.
Kailen shook his head. This fellow was something else.
"One piece of advice, Kailen. Whatever happens, never lose the woman you love. It’s not a good feeling. You can move on. But, it still gnaws at you. The occasional guilt of losing her... it’s just unbearable," Julian added genuinely.
Kailen nodded, quiet in thought. Of course, he was not planning on losing anyone he cared about, especially Arrie. This was why he had to put an end to the six vimodial seats. Either they died or he, and the will of the universe died, and naturally, the universe will fall into disorder and he will lose everyone he cared about.
Kailen’s eyes flashed with resolve as he patted Julian’s back.
"Thanks for the counsel, man. Wait... did I just hear you say your son... heh," Kailen was quite surprised.
"What? Who do you think I am. I could be your ancestor for all we know. Show me some respect, young man," Julian clicked his tongue.
"Hehe," Kailen took a sip of his coffee, placed it in the tray, and continued, "Hard to imagine a playboy like you with a son."
"Actually, I have two sons and one daughter," Julian said. He saw the expression of shock on Kailen’s face. Why was this fellow having such a bad image of him... sigh... He shook his head and continued, "They are all Rank 7 supreme-stage universe-level lifeforms. They were really looking forward to coming to the chaotic region but unfortunately for them, they don’t have an innate transcendent ability."
A glint of admiration flashed through Kailen’s eyes. To have three children at the Rank 7 supreme-stage universe level, this was not something easy to accomplish. Julian had really done well. Also, this fellow seemed older than he let on. His children had become Rank 7 supreme-stage universe-level powerhouses. The time it took for that to happen was naturally very long. Combining that with his actual age would be terrifying.
"It seems I have to call you Ancestor Seir from now on," Kailen said.
Julian suddenly spat out the alcohol in his mouth. He looked at Kailen with a very weird expression.
Kailen had an innocent look in his eyes. "What? Didn’t you say I should call you ancestor?"
Julian replied, "Don’t do that. It’s cringe. Speaking of age..." Julian added after sitting up well, "When I found out you were not even 500 years old by the time you became the Void Supreme, I was very shocked. You look older than your age. It’s as if you are even older than me, especially considering that scheming mind of yours."
Kailen shrugged. "I get that a lot. But, being a protagonist has its perks, right?"
Julian widened his eyes. What sort of bullshit was this fellow spouting now. How could someone be so shameless?
"To think beneath that calm exterior, there would be such a shameless demeanor," Julian shook his head.
"I get that a lot too," Kailen said.
Julian was about to say something when he saw a barrier separating the edge region from the chaotic region ahead. Kailen also saw it. Only Transcendents could see and pass through this barrier.
"We are here," Julian said.
The two disappeared from the spaceship as the spaceship disappeared into Julian’s secret realm. They headed toward the barrier, passed through it, and disappeared.
