Chapter 629: The Chosen Day 2

The chase began in earnest.

Eunid and his gold-ranked elders streaked across the sky in pursuit of the Core beast Eagle, their forms shimmering like falling stars. The wind roared with their passage, the air vibrating with the power of their movement. But they were not alone. From different directions, others appeared, streaks of light in varying hues forming an iridescent rainbow against the vast blue. Each figure emanated power, their energy pressurelike blazing flames in the sky.

Manu watched from his platform, standing at the center marked spot, his sharp eyes tracking the chaos. A low chuckle escaped his lips. These were no ordinary pursuers—they were strong powers, all tied to the Holy Church and even the Zodiac Families, each seeking what the Corebeast Eagle carried. ’Greedy fools’, he thought. ’They’re so focused on their prize they don’t realize they’re dancing in the palm of my hand. That Eagle

His amusement faded as he turned his attention upward. The bright, clear sky seemed empty, yet Manu felt it—those gazes from above.

The gods... entities beyond mortal comprehension, their presence a weight pressing down on him. He threw back his head, his voice cutting through the chaos below.

"Father, can you see it? I am going to ascend, and then I shall come for my revenge!" his voice was like venom ready to strike.

The sky answered. A bolt of lightning tore through the heavens, splitting the clear blue with a deafening crack. The light lingered, a bright scar slashed across the serene expanse, as if acknowledging his challenge.

Manu smiled grimly. He removed his outer robes, leaving only the flowing royal skirt. His bare chest gleamed under the sunlight, marked with intricate runes glowing faintly in yellow. He spread his arms wide, and his voice dropped into a low chant. The words he uttered were not meant for human tongues, each syllable rippling through the air with ancient power.

As he chanted, the five towering pillars scattered across the continent pulsed with ethereal light. The runes carved into their surfaces blazed to life, their glow synchronized with the rhythm of the runes on Manu’s chest. The air seemed to hum with energy, a deep, resonating thrum that shook the earth itself.

From the farthest reaches of the land, people turned their faces toward the glowing pillars. Their eyes widened in awe, and many fell to their knees.

"Praise the light!" one voice called out.

The energy in each dantian swarmed, building like water pressing against a dam on the verge of collapse. The power roared within him, each dantian vibrating with its unique intensity. Manu’s body convulsed as the three forces fought to harmonize, his veins glowing brighter and brighter as they strained to contain the overwhelming flow of energy.

Manu’s face twisted with effort, a thin smile breaking through the pain. This was what he had prepared for, what he had sacrificed countless lives for.

The power was his, and he was on the cusp of something greater than mortal comprehension.

Just as Manu’s body strained to contain the overwhelming power surging through him, the atmosphere was shattered by a cacophony of loud, threatening voices echoing across the platform.

"You think you can take this power for yourself, Manu Madayaki?!" boomed a deep, resonant voice. A hulking man clad in spiked obsidian armor landed heavily on the platform, the force of his arrival cracking the very ground beneath him. His golden aura burned fiercely around him like a wildfire, and his piercing crimson eyes were locked on Manu with unrelenting fury.

Another voice, high-pitched and sharp, cut through the tension. "You’ve overstepped your bounds, thief! Power of this magnitude belongs to the Council of the Abyss!" A serpentine figure, her body covered in glistening scales of deep blue and green, coiled gracefully as she landed. Her aquatic features were both beautiful and menacing—webbed claws, fin-like ears, and glowing green eyes that glared with predatory intent.

From above, a shadow descended, followed by a burst of radiant light. "Such arrogance will not go unpunished!" declared a man with snow-white wings unfurling behind him. His golden armor gleamed as he floated down, and his radiant presence seemed to push back the darkness of the ritual. His eyes glowed with divine judgment as his voice carried an otherworldly authority.

More figures arrived in quick succession. A fiery woman wreathed in flames landed with a crackling explosion, her golden aura shimmering like molten lava. Beside her stood a skeletal being wrapped in tattered robes, his hollow eye sockets burning with dim blue flames. His presence exuded death, and his raspy voice added to the chorus of threats: "You’ve gone too far, serpent scum! This lives... their energy is not yours to take."

Two figures, however, stood apart, their power radiating far beyond the others. One was a hulking, fish-like humanoid with scales that shimmered with an opalescent sheen. His voice gurgled and rumbled as he spoke, "Do you even comprehend the forces you tamper with, Madayaki? You’ll bring ruin to all realms!"

The other was a woman cloaked in shimmering silver robes, her presence serene yet suffocating. Her eyes glowed with a celestial brilliance as her voice echoed, seemingly from all directions. "This ritual ends now, Manu Madayaki. Surrender yourself, or face annihilation."

All around Manu, the platform swarmed with these powerful figures, their golden rank energy thickening the air and two undeniable presences marking them as demi-gods. The killing intent was suffocating, the sheer pressure threatening to crush the unworthy.

But Manu, despite the overwhelming odds, simply raised his head, the predatory smirk still etched on his face....
