Chapter 535: The Test Of Mind 2
Chapter 535: The Test Of Mind 2
Chiron had been speechless, and the mixture of fear and surprise, sent his hunger packing.
But this woman in front of him, she had not been repulsed by his smell or the dirt on him. Instead, she had accepted him even without knowing him.
At the time, he did not know that she was sick with Cancer.
"You look like a man with stories to tell..." her eyes looked him up and down, "...and I am bored. So lets make a deal. I’ll let you eat, as much as you want, and you me me with my boredom."
That night had been the first time he had actually slept in a bed for a years.
At first the stories was about his life, but somehow he discovered she wanted to hear more about the dreams he had of this strange world, and so he told her.
Even though after such a big meal, he needed some rest, for her sake, he continued. After all, she treasured every word that came from his mouth. The feeling was incredible.
He felt needed, like he was finally adding value in the life of another person. Such a feeling was incredible to behold and he enjoyed everyone of it.
To make matters better, her name was Chariclo and his was Chiron. It was as if their meeting had been fated by the heavens themselves.
(Author’s Note: Its Greek mythology. Chariclo was wife to Chiron.)
At least at the time, he had believed it.
And what started out as a homeless guy stealing from fridge and a lonely girl, looking for an opportunity to escape the terrible fate of her family, bloomed into an incredible relationship.
Of course, they were times he would sleep over at her place, but after he was almost caught one time by her father, he stayed under his bridge.
But Chiraclo did not mind. She enjoyed his stories and would come meet him here.
Even the homeless people her knew her and liked her.
After all, there was once such a time when he actually raised a brick attempting to smash her with it because of his fear, but discovered that he was back in the real world.
Back then, even though she had been slightly injured, she still did not back away from him, and he had sworn back then to never raise his hand on her again.
Here and now, Chiron could not help but actually imagine. "What if... What if he was actually back? What if he had just woken up from a dream and everything that had happened so far had not actually happened.
After all, it would not be the first time.
Besides, he promised her that he would never raise a hand on her again. What if this was one of those times?
That would mean that he was actually about to commit murder.
And for a few seconds, Chiron could not help but sink into a deep hug as she sang, and then he could feel his eyes become moist and wet.
"I am tired Chariclo, I am really tired!" he spoke softly.
"I know my Ron ron. I know," she struck his head softly, her lean fingers, gliding into his jet hair, reaching his scalp to massage it gently and for a moment, the entire world seemed to go quiet down.
There was no fight for life, there was no manipulation. There was no struggle. No having to look over his shoulder and best of all, there was no scheme.
It was as if all the weight of the world and his Fate that he had been battling against had all been lifted from him.
The relief made tears fall from his eyes, staining her blouse.
And all the while, her soothing voice like a shower, washed his pain away. While her hands, created the comfort. His eyes closed a bit.
"Don’t worry, Ron ron, you just sleep now."
Chiron Suddenly opened his eyes. "So that is what it is!"@@@@
