Chapter 526: We All Have Our Fears

Chapter 526: We All Have Our Fears

"Its the same person of which you have been ignoring his letters." The Butler added.

"No! You can’t mean...Apollo!?" As Eunid said the name, he could feel a shiver run down his spine.

Old fang nodded, "not a week has gone by since the last gathering has he not sent a letter your way."

"I am aware, and I remember telling you to burn it all... He is a man, and I don’t swing that way."

"But like yourself, he is the heir to the Chasity family. If I am not mistaken, and I doubt I do, The Chasity family of the Virtues families of the Holy Church have a certain technique for mending such wounds like the one Nora possesses. But its one of those techniques whose secrets are closely guarded. Besides, it can only be performed by one with Chasity."

Eunid frowned, "But the Chasity Virtues... hmmm, all of them weird me out."

"As they do me..."

"They are supposed to be the opposite of the sin of lust... But... I don’t know, its just too weird. I can’t exactly put a finger on it. I don’t like them." Eunid frowned even more, showing the Butler that he had made up his mind and he had no plans to change it.

But Old Fang knew his young master well, and was sure that even against Apollo, he would be able to perfectly handle himself. And so he pressed further.

"If you feel you want to change your mind, He is having a ball to mark his elder’s sister coming of age ceremony. And he has already sent you an invite..." Old fang dug into his coat and brought out a letter. It had a red seal on it with the Chasity symbol of three drops of blood floating side by side.

In Eunid’s opinion, Everything about this Chasity family was weird and freaky. Even their Family Insignia. And it was the most creepy family of them all. Not that the other families were not weird in their own right as a result of the virtues in their lives, but theres was to a different degree.

Eunid looked at the Invitation and waved it away, throwing it into the fire place.

Old Fang sighed at this. "You know, some important people of the other families will be attending, this might be an opportunity for you. To get to know more and spread your wings of influence. Maybe even to the Temperance family that don’t like you so much. I herd that even the magicians are sending a representative."

"They are? But its a ’Vegetable’s party.’"

"Young Master!" Old fang called out sternly.

"I know, I know, do not call them Vegetables... Special needs. I get the memoir. But it does not change anything. I am still not going and that is finally."

Eunid shook his head, his gaze intense. "No. She just needs to be pushed a little more. She has to overcome this."

Old Fang frowned, clearly troubled. "But at what cost, Young Master? This could break her."

Eunid’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he watched Nora struggle with her inner demons. "She has to break through her fear. It’s the only way."

Nora’s cries grew softer, her strength waning as she continued to relive the nightmare. The flames around the puppet seemed to grow brighter, reflecting the intensity of her inner turmoil. Her body shook violently, her mind teetering on the edge of complete collapse.

Eunid and Old Fang could only watch, the outcome uncertain, as Nora faced the greatest battle of her life—one that was fought not with swords or spiritual energy, but with the deepest scars of her past.

Eunid, seeing the extent of Nora’s distress, suddenly changed his mind. He waved his hand and pressed another button. The puppet immediately fell to the ground, the flames around it extinguishing in an instant. Despite the cessation of the threat, Nora remained on the ground, whimpering and shaking uncontrollably.

Eunid and Old Fang approached her. Eunid knelt beside the crying girl, his face had a mixture of guilty and compassion.

Gently, he reached out and hugged her tightly.

At first, Nora resisted, her body stiffening in fear and confusion. But as Eunid held her, whispering soothing words, she gradually gave in, sinking into his embrace. Her tears soaked his clothes as she continued to cry, her sobs slowly diminishing.

Old Fang sighed, watching the scene with a mix of relief and concern. The once fierce and unyielding aura of the training arena now felt heavy with the weight of Nora’s vulnerability.

Just as Nora began to calm down, a spiritual rune flickered by Old Fang’s ear. He listened intently for a moment, then nodded. Turning to Eunid, he said, "Young Master Eunid, the old master would like a word with you. It seems your uncle has returned from the war front."

Eunid looked down at Nora, her tear-streaked face pressed against his chest, then back at Old Fang. He nodded, ’shit’--he cursed in his mind, gently, he disentangled himself from Nora. "I’ll be there shortly," he replied, his voice soft but resolute.

Nora clung to him for a moment longer, then reluctantly let go, her eyes still filled with lingering fear and exhaustion. Eunid gave her a reassuring smile. "Rest now, Nora. You’ve been through enough for today."

As he rose to his feet, Old Fang offered a small, respectful bow. "I’ll see to it that she is taken care of, Young Master."

However, in leaving this place, Eunid could not help but have a bad frown. After all, his uncle was the only other person in the family that could drag the seat of Patriarch with him.

This was going to be annoying...
