Chapter 1087 Intelligence Error
Chapter 1087 Intelligence Error
The jungle was shrouded in mist at dawn, with visibility limited to about 100 meters.
A caravan crossed the border from the northern border of Wan and began its journey inland.
"That old bastard Uncle Kang actually sent me! He's really inhuman!" A blond-haired man cursed inwardly as he looked at the horse caravan that stretched for about a kilometer.
"We've entered mainland territory, let's begin the plan!" Upon seeing the cavalry cross the border, the leader immediately ordered the cavalry to split into two.
Some people continued to follow the caravan, while about a dozen others took a backpack off the packhorses, put it on, and left the group.
The caravan continued along the route, while the dozen or so people headed east along the border. Among them was the blond-haired man.
They traveled about ten miles eastward and encountered a group of people who were all dressed like locals and carrying a basket on their backs.
The two groups exchanged what they were carrying. Afterwards, the blond-haired man led his men back with the backpack, while the locals continued their journey into the interior with their baskets, soon disappearing into the vast mountains.
The cavalry, on the other hand, walked into Li Kuiyong's ambush and were easily wiped out.
"Chief of Staff, something's not right!" The company commander walked into the command post with an unusually serious expression.
"What's wrong?" Kui Yong looked up and asked with a face full of curiosity.
"The caravan was wiped out, but the amount of drugs seized was not much, only a dozen kilograms. The rest was real flour!" the squadron leader said with a wry smile.
"What?" Li Kuiyong asked, his face full of shock.
"Our intelligence was wrong! This group is just bait, or rather, deliberately trying to distract us! The real drugs have already been moved along the way!" the squad leader said helplessly.
"It seems our undercover agent has been exposed!" Li Kuiyong said sadly.
If an undercover agent is exposed, their chances of survival are slim.
"Were there any survivors in the caravan we ambushed?" Li Kuiyong asked.
"No, we've had a precedent before. They faked a surrender and took two of our soldiers with them!" the company commander said somberly.
"It seems we can only wait for the police to provide us with information!" Li Kuiyong said helplessly.
"Shall we call it a day and head back?" the company commander asked.
"Let's call it a day!" Li Kuiyong said.
After the squadron leader left, Li Kuiyong picked up the phone and called Wei Dong again.
"Is the ambush over?" Wei Dong asked.
“That’s right, but we’ve fallen for their trap! This caravan was bait; the real drugs took a different route!” Li Kuiyong said.
"A feint to the east while attacking in the west? These guys are actually starting to use the Thirty-Six Stratagems?" Wei Dong asked in surprise.
“That’s right, it seems there are capable people on the other side too! And I reckon the undercover police officer has probably been killed! Things will get even more difficult from now on!” Li Kuiyong said.
"There's nothing we can do about it; drug dealers are more cunning than we ever imagined!" Wei Dong sighed.
"I just wanted to let you know that I also need to bring my team back," Li Kuiyong said.
"Okay, go back and provide psychological support to the soldiers! Let these soldiers participate in this year's selection!" Wei Dong said.
"You've gone too far! You can't just hoard all the good stuff for your special operations brigade! Your selection process is open to the entire Southwest Military Region, so you don't need a few of us. I still have a great use for these soldiers when they get back!" Li Kuiyong said, somewhat exasperated.
"Haha, that's not up to you! By the way, have you been in contact with that kid Zhong Yuemin lately?" Wei Dong asked curiously.
“I heard that kid is working at a company in Beiping now! I also heard he’s become a manager!” Li Kuiyong said.
"Why are you asking about him?" Li Kuiyong asked curiously.
“Ning Wei mentioned it when he came back from his last vacation! And given his restless nature, I feel he should go to Wei Nong's place; they're currently lacking a professional manager!” Wei Dong said.
"I think you shouldn't think like that. Whatever company you hand over to Zhong Yuemin, he'll work for you if you're interested, and he'll just abandon you if he's not!" Li Kuiyong said, pursing his lips.
"Haha, you're really good at judging people. That's the same way my old man describes Zhong Yuemin!" Wei Dong said with a smile.
"Really? Uncle Zhao's judgment of people is really accurate!" Li Kuiyong said with a smile.
"By the way, your Guiping branch should keep an eye on the coastal situation recently. Wei Shang called me this morning and asked me to help him contact the coast guards in Dongguang and Guiping," Wei Dong said.
"Why contact the Coast Guard?" Li Kuiyong asked.
“There’s a drug dealer who might have set up a drug lab on the ship! They can manufacture methamphetamine! And high-purity methamphetamine at that!” Wei Dong said.
"So powerful?" As the chief of staff of the armed police force, Li Kuiyong had dealt with drug dealers quite a bit, so of course he knew what methamphetamine was.
"Yes, according to him, this drug dealer is from the southeastern province, and the meth he produces is basically over 80% pure, even better than what the Japanese make!" Wei Dong exclaimed.
Lu Shaohua is definitely a genius, it's a pity he didn't take the right path!
"How can Wei Shang be sure he'll be at sea?" Li Kuiyong asked curiously.
“Because Wei Shang has already searched the entire Pearl River Delta and found nothing, it can only be found at sea!” Wei Dong said.
“Okay, I’ll contact our Coast Guard when I get back and ask them to keep an eye out!” Li Kuiyong said.
“Alright, let’s take it as a task. Wei Shang probably wouldn’t have called me if he had a better plan. Besides, we really can’t let this guy who can make drugs get away with it! We need to be careful, both for our own sake and for the public good!” Wei Dong said.
"I know, you don't need to tell me! Our two families are related, Wei Shang is also my younger brother!" Li Kuiyong said.
"Okay, that's good. I'll hang up now! I have another meeting in a bit!" Wei Dong said.
"Okay, you go ahead with your work! I'm heading back to my post too!" Li Kuiyong hung up the phone and walked out of the command center.
They saw soldiers carrying back the bodies of drug dealers.
"Li Wen!" Li Kuiyong shouted loudly.
"Here!" a soldier shouted.
"Let's pack up and head back!" Li Kuiyong said.
"Yes, Chief of Staff!" Lieutenant Li Wen saluted and walked into the command post.
Looking at the rolling mountains, Li Kuiyong pondered the escaped drug dealers.
Meanwhile, Lu Shaohua, who was being targeted, was having a great time with Wang Lin and a few others at a nightclub in Yuen Long, Tung Sing.
"Brother Hua! Let's have a drink!" Old Gui said to Lu Shaohua, holding a bottle of liquor and hugging a girl.
"Cheers!" Lu Shaohua also raised his bottle and clinked it against Lao Gui's!
"Brother Hua, when will you start work again?" Old Ghost asked in a low voice.
