Chapter 370 Ophelia's Apology
Chapter 370 Ophelia's Apology
Suddenly, Blood Baby materializes out of nowhere, wrapping itself tightly around the chaotic black ball. I notice its body beginning to darken, but before I can react, Blood Baby drives a sharp tendril into my body, drawing my blood at an alarming rate. However, my blood armor sustains me, feeding me a constant supply of blood to offset the drain.
In front of me, the black ball starts to shrink as Blood Baby compresses it further and further until it's no larger than a football. Then I glance at Ophelia, who still wears that mocking grin, taunting me silently. With strong determination, I place my hands on the chaos ball, and with Blood Baby's assistance, I shift its trajectory, aiming it straight at her.
With a sudden roar, a surge of vampiric energy bursts from my body.
"Double Counter!" I bellow as the chaos ball hurtles toward Ophelia, swelling to twice its size. For the first time, fear flickers across Ophelia's face. She tries to brace herself, but it is too late. The massive ball slams into her chest, sending her flying backward with immense force.
Seeing the opening, I decide to press the attack before she can recover. First, I must counter her teleportation.
"Sanguine Dance: Fifth Step," I whisper. My body blurs into dancing motion, performing intricate footwork that nullifies her ability to teleport me away. Closing the distance, I land lightly on the ground and immediately leap back into the air, towering over her. She looks up at me, her composure faltering as I cup my hands together into a single, devastating fist.
Desperately, she tries to shield herself with the black miasma, but her earlier clash with the chaos ball left an opening.
BAAANG!
I drive my cupped fists into her stomach with such brutal force that the entire space quakes violently.
"ARRGHHH!" Ophelia's scream pierces the air as my attack connects, sending her plummeting into the ground with a deafening impact.
BAM!
BAM!
"Wait!" Ophelia cries out, raising a hand to stop me.
"What now? You look unarmed, or is this another one of your tricks?" I ask, keeping my grip firm. I refuse to let my guard down in front of this crafty witch.
"I swear on my ancestors—you win," she says, her voice strained but sincere. "It might seem like I'm fine, but I took a lot of damage from that attack. My body just managed to heal itself. Was that... the legendary Transcendence God's Bane?" Her gaze shifts to my sword, a strange reverence lighting in her eyes.
I still stay wary, studying her closely. "Yes. I only used the fifth stage on you. Count yourself lucky," I reply, resting Excalibur on my shoulder. My words are confident, even arrogant, but internally, I'm still processing how she survived. Most gods can't endure even the second stage of God's Bane, yet she tanked the fifth and walked away with barely a scratch. Truly, she lives up to her reputation as one of the strongest women in the universe.
"It's magnificent," she murmurs, spitting out dirt from her mouth.
I narrow my eyes. "Do you regret it? All of it? Do you regret being a terrible mother? Your daughter doesn't even call you 'mother.' That's how far you've fallen. You treated her like a tool, and now you stand here, pathetic and alone." I shake my head and turn as if to leave, though inwardly I'm burning with anticipation. I need her to apologize. The reward is just too good to pass up.
"Wait," she says, her voice cracking. "I... I'm sorry for everything. For whatever happened between us. Everything I did was for the witches, our population is declining. I was following the prophecy of a great leader; a child born from my daughter and the reincarnation of the Protoss. I was so consumed by that goal that I didn't realize I was tearing everything apart. So, Prot—no, Jake—I need your help." She lowers her head deeply, a gesture of genuine remorse.
[Ding.]
[The Host Has Completed The Mission: Defeat Ophelia And Make Her Apologize.]
[Reward will be distributed.]
Seeing the reward a grin spreads across my face. My eyes land back on Ophelia who is not shrouded by miasma. Then I realize she is actually not bad, she is a very beautiful woman.
A grin forms on my face. "If you want to make corrections, we can start from here," I say, walking towards her with a perverted grin.
