Chapter 478: Escape from the Tiger's Mouth (Part 1)

Looking at the scene in front of her, Funina was stunned on the spot.

"This... was done by me?" She looked at her hands and said in disbelief.

She was suddenly startled and woke up suddenly.

"No, now is not the time to think about this."

She shook her head and walked quickly towards the door, but at this moment, she suddenly stopped.

Finina turned around and looked at the two ice sculptures lying in the corridor and fell into deep thought.

"Wait a minute, if we just leave them lying here, wouldn't that be appropriate? What if someone finds us..."

Finina lowered her hands and then pushed the two ice sculptures into the cell. After closing the door, she left with peace of mind.

……

"Okay, now we have to get out of this damn place as soon as possible. I don't know how Clara, Linnie, and the others are doing now. They must be very worried after I was captured."

The empty corridor was dimly lit. Finina walked with nervous steps, sometimes holding her breath subconsciously and listening to the patrol's footsteps against the wall; sometimes she bent her body and moved quickly, her eyes vigilantly scanning the closed doors on both sides of the corridor.

As she turned a corner, she heard the sound of orderly footsteps, accompanied by the crisp sound of metal clashing. Furninna's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately hid in a nearby pile of debris, holding her breath as she peered out.

Three patrolling guards passed by and suddenly stopped. Finina, holding the crowbar she had picked up along the way, stared at the guards' boots, not daring to breathe.

After a while, the guards left, and Furninna began to breathe freely. At this moment, the sound of her heartbeat echoed in her ears like a drum, and cold sweat broke out on her palms.

"This place is too dangerous. Where is the exit?"

She shook her head, trying to stay awake. After taking a breath, she carefully walked out of the pile of debris. After making sure that no one was around, she boldly ran towards the back of the corridor.

After running past two more intersections, a flashing red door suddenly appeared ahead. Funina slowed down and leaned against the wall to observe. She saw the sign on the door read "Information Room."

"Reference room?"

Furninna lowered her head in thought.

"When I was with Clara before, Mr. Swarlow seemed to have taught me how to use the system. Maybe I can try my luck and find a map to leave here, but..."

Suddenly, the mechanical door opened, and two members of the Fallen Angel Brigade dressed in researcher uniforms walked out from the door. Although they walked to the other side, they soon returned to the front of the door. It seemed that they came out to get water.

Funina held her breath and waited until the two of them had completely entered the data room. Then she darted over like an agile cat and slipped in before the door was completely closed.

The data room was filled with the smell of burning electronic components. Several rows of metal shelves were piled high with encrypted hard drives and paper files. A central control console flickered with a faint blue light. The two researchers from earlier stood with their backs to the door, their heads bent over something on a terminal, the light reflected from the screen catching their tech glasses.

"I heard that Lord Ite has already set off. I don't know if this plan can be successfully completed."

"Why rush? Yingba isn't that easy to deal with. But the girl we captured yesterday is said to have a power that even Lord Ite is interested in. If we can..."

Before she finished her words, Funina had quietly circled behind the control console, crowbar tightly clenched in her hand. She took a deep breath, stood up suddenly, and smashed the crowbar with all her might into the back of the head of the nearest researcher.

Well!

The researcher groaned and fell straight down. Another researcher turned around in shock and was about to shout when Furninna quickly struck him unconscious with another blow.

The whole process happened as fast as a gust of wind. Finina held onto the console and gasped for breath. Looking at the two unconscious people on the ground, her violently beating heart gradually calmed down.

She calmed herself down and looked at the lit terminal screen.

"Alright, let's quickly check for any useful data. Especially blueprints or topographic maps. If we can find them, we won't have to worry about being stuck here any longer."

Funina typed on the keyboard, but didn't find what she wanted. However, she found a lot of data from the abyss in the resource library.

"These...are they data from the Abyss System? When exactly? No, these are confidential documents. We can't leave them to them. They must be destroyed!"

She continued to operate the keyboard, but unexpectedly, during the deletion process, she made another unexpected discovery.

"This is... such a massive database. How much has that guy collected... Oh, if only I could take all this data back with me."

As Funina was thinking this, a prompt sound came from the side.

"Data backup completed."

Finina turned her head suddenly and saw a palm-sized silver storage device flashing green light at the interface on the side of the console. It was inserted by the researcher just now, probably to back up data, but she forgot to unplug it when she knocked her unconscious.

"Wow, God help me, now I don't even need to worry about backup."

Her eyes lit up and she quickly pulled out the memory and stuffed it into her arms.

"But even so, I've been searching for so long, but I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Could it be that the lab's map isn't here?"

She lowered her head in thought, then searched the database again. However, as time passed quickly, she became increasingly irritated.

"Ah, really, I can't find a map. This place is so big and so chaotic. How long will it take me to get out by myself?"

Finina complained, but the next second, her finger stopped in the middle.

"This is... a communication function. Yeah, since the technology here is pretty much the same as in the Abyss, let's take this opportunity to let Clara and the others know we're safe. Since we can't talk, well... I might as well just send a message. Maybe they can follow the signal and find us after receiving it."

Funina's eyes lit up, and she immediately called up the communication interface. It displayed an encrypted code, clearly preventing direct dialing of external numbers, but the text messaging function was still functional. She quickly tapped on the keyboard, composing a message:

"I'm Funina. I'm currently at the Fallen Angel Brigade base. I'm safe, don't worry. Their system data is backed up inside the base."

The moment the send button was pressed, a message popped up on the screen: "Message encrypted and sent to an unknown destination." Finina breathed a sigh of relief. Since it was Shivaro's IP address, her technology might be able to track the source of the signal.

Just then, the door to the data room suddenly beeped, indicating the sensor was activating. Furninna's heart tightened, and she immediately turned off the terminal screen and hid behind the shelves.

At this moment, two more researchers walked in, obviously companions of the two just now.

"Hey, are you guys slacking off again? Why are the screens all black?" one of them asked casually, glancing across the console. "Huh? Where's everyone?"

Another person also discovered his unconscious companion on the ground, and his face suddenly changed: "Oh no! Something happened!"
