Shi Chenghong nodded slightly. The thought of the clan abandoning Yong’an City filled his heart with sorrow.

Yet, the next moment, determination appeared on his face.

The clan’s departure was only temporary. One day, they would reclaim everything that had been lost.

Yunmeng City was indeed the best option he had discussed with Elder He Li and the other two elders.

First, Yunmeng City was far enough away that, even if the Chen Clan learned of their whereabouts, they would be unable to reach them easily. Second, the Shi Clan could observe the Chen Clan’s movements from there, interfere when possible, and hinder their growth.

Second, Yunmeng City was the most suitable choice. Other territories were already occupied by established families. If the Shi Clan rashly intruded, they might not be able to secure a foothold.

Embroidered in two interwoven colors on their sleeves was the ancient symbol of a locust tree.

The people of Yong’an City knew well what that emblem represented. Many silently committed it to memory, lest they forget this mark in the days to come.

After circling the city once, Chen Tianjing and his entourage arrived at the Xie Clan’s estate.

Though deserted, the place had once been the seat of Yong’an City’s largest family. Situated at the center of the city, the spacious compound was well suited to serve as the Chen Clan’s stronghold.

Having secured their base, Chen Tianjing gathered his clansmen and dispatched them throughout the city to gather intelligence.
