Chapter 1166 - 1166: Suspected
The thing flying toward Aldrian and his wives was a plane, yet its shape was very different from what Aldrian and Sylphia remembered. The plane was far more advanced, its form resembling a spaceship more than the normal planes of the past.
It flew past them, and through the windows, they could see the people inside. Some of them were shocked when they saw them.
"Mom, there are people floating in the sky," a child said to his mother after seeing Aldrian and his group through the window.
His mother frowned and looked outside, trying to see what her son had seen. But unfortunately, the plane had already flown past Aldrian's position.
Aldrian and his wives watched the plane disappear into the distance.
"The transportation here is not much different from our world. Those things called cars are no different from carriages, and that thing just now is no different from a cruiser. They also use a kind of interstellar vessel," Baek Jimin said.
"So what do we do now? Will we just confidently stroll around this place like this?" Angelica asked.
"Let's observe more of the people's activities. We need to learn a few basic things first before we can blend into the crowd," Aldrian said before slowly descending. His wives followed him as they landed on the rooftop of a skyscraper.
Although the buildings here were not as tall as some of the buildings in the inner realm, where their height seemed to reach the heavens, the architectural style here was unique. In Aldrian and Sylphia's mind, it was truly futuristic by Earth's standards.
After they stood on the rooftop, they could see the people's activities much more clearly. Not all of the cars were flying cars. There were still many cars moving along the ground. They could see the congestion below them and people walking along the sidewalk.
When Baek Jimin and Angelica looked at the people below and saw the fashion of this world, they could not help but blush slightly. They saw some women wearing short pants that revealed much of their skin, or casual dresses that exposed their collarbones and reached up to their thighs.
They also saw some of them wearing miniskirts that gave the illusion of almost reaching their intimate areas.
There were other styles of fashion that, to them, felt quite bizarre and inappropriate for daily activities.
"Is this the fashion style of this world? It's truly strange and inappropriate. I thought this kind of clothing was only worn in private settings or inside the red district," Angelica said with a flushed face.
Aldrian smiled. "Well, although it looks inappropriate in our world for women to show so much of their skin, in this world that is common. Let's just say it is also their freedom of expression."
He was not surprised that Angelica and even Baek Jimin would think that way. In their world, or in most parts of the inner realm, women's attire usually covered most of their skin.
It did not matter if they wore tight clothing that accentuated their body curves, or revealed some skin such as part of their thighs, shoulders, or maybe collarbones on special occasions, they still considered it appropriate.
But what they saw here was different. The women seemed to enjoy these fashions openly in their daily lives. It was their everyday style, and no one seemed to care or judge them.
However Baek Jimin and Angelica sighed in relief, as not all women dressed like that. They could see that many still wore clothes that fit their own standards of propriety.
They just could not imagine themselves wearing such short pants or casual dresses that revealed so much of their legs and collarbones in front of so many people.
They might wear such clothing in front of Aldrian alone, but for many people to see them? No way.
They observed how people interacted with each other. They watched how transactions were carried out. People only needed to tap their bracelets to buy things. They also saw people playing in the park with their families and pets.
The atmosphere was truly peaceful.
"Look, that is A-rank hunter Li Zhanfeng!" a shout suddenly rose from the crowd.
Aldrian and his wives shifted their focus toward the voice, then to the people who were making way for a man to pass. The man had blonde hair and wore a cocky expression. Even without knowing him personally, Aldrian could tell that he was arrogant.
The way he walked, full of confidence with his hands in his pockets, ignoring his surroundings, along with that hidden smug expression that seemed to enjoy the attention, made it easy to identify his nature.
"In this world, hunters are respected by the masses, just like cultivators are respected by mortals in our world. This man has the aura of a viscount stage cultivator. From the crowd's reaction, he is an A-rank hunter. But I am still quite confused about how their ranking compares to our cultivation system," Sylphia said.
"From the information in the book given by General Ruan, hunter ranks go from F to SSSS. This man is an A-rank hunter and has viscount stage aura. General Ruan is said to be an SSS-rank hunter, and she has marquess stage aura. The five people with her are said to be SS-rank hunters, and they also have marquess stage aura," Aldrian replied.
"If that is the case, then what about F and E rank? If we compare them to our cultivation levels, then they would have no cultivation at all," she concluded with slight confusion.
Aldrian nodded. "This world is quite different when it comes to rating the power of individuals. From my understanding, F and E ranks would not even be considered cultivators in our world because they are too weak. But here, they may already possess much greater strength than normal mortals. That may be why they are still given ranks."
"As for General Ruan and the five SS-rank hunters, I think the difference works like this. An SS-rank is someone who has reached the low marquess stage, while an SSS-rank is someone who has reached high marquess stage. I came to this conclusion because those five SS-rank hunters have the aura of middle marquess stage, while General Ruan is at high nearly peak marquess stage."
The others nodded in understanding as they continued observing the crowd, which was still cheering and admiring the man named Li Zhanfeng.
"Anyway, let's go somewhere where we could—" Before Aldrian could finish his words, he sensed someone approaching their direction. Sylphia and the others also sensed it. The figure leapt from one rooftop to another, crossing the skyscrapers before landing behind them.
Aldrian and his wives turned to look at the figure. It was a woman. She wore a tight blue and white uniform with a short skirt and stockings that tightly wrapped around her legs. She had a young, beautiful face, and her short brown hair, which only reached her neck, made her look energetic.
From her aura, she was an A-rank hunter.
At first, she approached with a suspicious expression, but the moment she saw their faces clearly, she froze.
A faint blush appeared on her cheeks, but she quickly shook her head, pushing aside her thoughts as she forced a serious expression. Even so, it was clear she was still affected by their appearance, especially Aldrian.
"Otherworlders? Where do you come from? Why was there no notice about otherworlders planning to visit?" she asked, trying to maintain a professional tone.
Aldrian smiled at her, showing he meant no harm, but that small gesture made her heart skip a beat.
"We just came to Earth for the first time from a distant world. We did not come through a gate, but from outer space," he said.
"Do you have an ID?" the woman asked again.
Aldrian nodded. He showed his ID through his bracelet, and the moment the woman saw the barcode, she scanned it using her own bracelet. After that, she saw the details of Aldrian's information, and her eyes widened in shock.
'What? The origin field is empty… and his rank is SSSS+? What kind of rank is this? Is it bogus? But the one who issued this ID is the Second Sky Garden. There is no way they would make a mistake or issue a false ID.'
Her thoughts were in turmoil. She did not even look at the other details. The rank alone was enough to make her forget everything else.
She looked at Aldrian and his group with trembling eyes. She bit her lip, her gaze filled with uncertainty, but in the end, she spoke.
"Would you please stay for a moment? I would like to confirm this with my superior."
Aldrian nodded. "Go ahead."
The woman then contacted someone using her bracelet, with only her side of the conversation being heard. She remained in contact for several minutes, her expression showing repeated shock before she finally ended the call.
After finishing, she approached Aldrian and his group and suddenly bowed.
"My apologies, Sir Aldrian and ladies, for the inconvenience. Please understand that while I happened to see you on the rooftop and felt suspicious, so I came to check."
"Usually, when otherworlders visit the city, there is a notice from the Hunter Association to the municipal police headquarters. However, I did not see any notice regarding your arrival. Once again, please accept my apologies."
Aldrian kept his smile. "It's alright, miss. We understand."
She let out a sigh of relief as she maintained her respectful posture, her head still lowered.
"Please allow me to introduce myself properly. My name is Su Wenxin. I am a captain in the municipal police of Shanghai, tasked with maintaining order in the city."
