Chapter 489 Cleaning up the portal
Chapter 489 Cleaning up the portal
The air in the boardroom seemed to freeze. Lin Chuyue coldly surveyed the directors sitting opposite her, including Gu Yanchuan.
"Distinguished board members," she said in a cold voice, her eyes sharp as knives, "since you have come uninvited today, I shall respectfully comply and listen to how you intend to force me to step down."
Lin Zhengguo's expression changed: "Chuyue, don't say that—everyone is just worried that you'll be too aggressive after taking over the company and damage its vitality."
Lin Chuyue chuckled: "Radical? Is it your so-called 'radical' that caused Lin's stock to rise for three consecutive days, or is it your people spreading rumors in the market to force me to sell assets at a low price? Which one is it?"
An older director in a gray suit said in a deep voice, "President Lin, now is not the time for confrontation. The company is indeed facing pressure to transform, but we just hope that a more stable person will take charge..."
"For example, the 'more stable person' you mentioned, is it Gu Yanchuan?"
Her words hit the nail on the head, and those people fell into an awkward silence.
Gu Yanchuan, however, was not annoyed. He spoke with an elegant demeanor: "Chuyue, why are you so agitated? We are only acting in the best interests of the company. You are young and full of energy, but lack experience. This is not your fault."
"But that's enough to justify your attempt to seize power?" Lin Chuyue smiled sarcastically. "You really are just like your father, wearing the skin of a gentleman, but more ambitious than anyone else at heart."
Gu Yanchuan's eyes darkened: "And what about you? You've been using Li Zhanchuan's resources to make big moves, do you really think he did it for you?"
A single sentence, like a poisoned arrow, directly points to the relationship between Lin Chuyue and Li Zhanchuan.
The atmosphere in the meeting room changed abruptly.
Just when everyone thought Lin Chuyue would be powerless to retaliate, the conference room door was suddenly pushed open with a bang.
Li Zhanchuan walked in, followed by three men in suits, each carrying a document folder.
"Distinguished directors, on behalf of the foreign controlling shareholder, I hereby submit an investigation request regarding the chaotic internal management of your company," Li Zhanchuan said coldly, his voice sharp as a knife.
"You—!" A director stood up in astonishment. "You have no right to interfere with the Lin family!"
“I’m sorry,” Li Zhanchuan said calmly, taking out a stack of documents and tossing them on the table. “Just half an hour ago, Lin Chuyue authorized me to act as her agent for 30% of her shares.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the room erupted in uproar.
Lin Zhengguo's expression changed instantly, anger and disbelief flashing in his eyes: "You authorized this without authorization? Chuyue, do you know what this means?"
Lin Chuyue looked at him calmly: "Of course I know, it means... I can clean house now."
She then changed the subject: "The meeting continues. I propose that Gu Yanchuan be removed from all his positions within the company and that an internal financial audit be initiated."
"You have no right to do that!" Gu Yanchuan stood up, furious.
“Yes.” Li Zhanchuan chuckled softly, then turned to look at the remaining directors in the conference room. “I currently hold 40% of the voting rights, and Lin Chuyue holds 25%, totaling 65%. We can initiate an emergency resolution.”
No one spoke anymore.
The storm has truly begun.
?
Lin Family Villa, Night
Lin Zhengguo smashed a teacup on the table, his face turning ashen.
"She actually dared to lay a hand on someone from the Gu family! Has she gone mad?!"
Standing behind him, Lin Yun frowned slightly: "Dad, you don't really want her to stay in this position, do you? She's completely controlled by Li Zhanchuan now."
Lin Zhengguo sighed: "But look at her attitude at the board meeting today. She doesn't seem to be being manipulated at all. She... she's like a completely different person."
"Changed?" Lin Yun gritted her teeth. "She's gone mad! She doesn't care about our family at all anymore!"
Lin Zhengguo did not respond, his eyes darkening.
Lin Yun slowly spoke up: "Dad, should we contact... the people on that project?"
Lin Zhengguo's body trembled.
Lin Yun walked to his side and whispered, "Shen Fang contacted them before, saying that they could create a 'public opinion storm' at a critical moment, and even... could make someone disappear from the board of directors through technical means."
Lin Zhengguo remained silent for a long time before finally asking in a trembling voice, "Are you sure... they can be trusted?"
A ruthless glint flashed in Lin Yun's eyes: "More reliable than Lin Chuyue."
?
Li Zhanchuan's villa, late at night
Lin Chuyue stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, silently looking at the dark night outside.
"Still thinking about the board meeting?" Li Zhanchuan walked up from behind and handed her a glass of hot milk.
She took it, her tone flat: "They won't give up so easily."
“Of course not.” Li Zhanchuan moved closer to her, his gaze deep. “I even suspect that Gu Yanchuan has already begun to investigate the cause of your mother’s death.”
Lin Chuyue was taken aback: "What do you mean?"
Li Zhanchuan placed his phone in front of her; it was a screenshot of an overseas investigation report.
“Someone tried to access your mother’s hospital records from the year she died in England through my connections.”
Lin Chuyue's fingers tightened, and a hint of surprise and anger appeared in her eyes.
"You suspect it's him?"
"I've never doubted just him."
Li Zhanchuan looked at her, his voice low and somber: "My mother was also in that hospital before she passed away... and the person who was taking care of her at the time was Gu Yanchuan's mother."
The air stood still for a moment.
"Your mother...wasn't it an accident?" Lin Chuyue's voice trembled slightly.
Li Zhanchuan's eyes were like a hidden, sharp blade: "Since I was ten years old, I have stopped believing in the word 'accident'."
Lin Chuyue remained silent for a long time.
She finally understood why Li Zhanchuan was willing to do anything to return to China, and why he could stand up for her without hesitation—their fates had already intersected more than a decade ago.
Now, it's time for reckoning.
