Chapter 429 A Colossal Behemoth
Chapter 429 A Colossal Behemoth
However, before anyone could appreciate it, the once calm lake surface underwent a change. A sudden gust of wind swept across the lake, bringing not a refreshing scent, but an overwhelming fishy stench that choked everyone's nose.
A colossal monster with a tiger's head and a snake's body slowly emerged before them. Its lower body was coiled, its serpentine form submerged in the lake water. The snake's body was covered in white scales like fish scales, yet even so, the group couldn't see more than a third of the snake's thickness. Its upper body, standing upright in mid-air, was already dozens of feet off the ground. Its tiger-like eyes, emitting a ghostly green light, were looking down at the group of people who appeared like ants to it.
The sudden turn of events left everyone bewildered, and they could only look at each other in shock.
Bridal and the others had never known that such enormous creatures existed in the world; in fact, they all believed that the Fire Wolf King they had seen before was the largest creature in the world. But compared to the tiger-headed, snake-bodied monster before them, the Fire Wolf King was utterly insignificant in size.
Not only them, but even the extraordinary ones were stunned, having never seen such a colossal creature before.
The waves on the lake gradually subsided, but the fear in everyone's hearts did not lessen in the slightest. The enormous body of this creature coiled before them was like a giant mountain standing before them.
The enormous tiger slightly swayed its head, as if looking down upon the world and surveying all living beings. It only glanced at Chao Bufan and the others once more, and then made no further move.
Chao Bufan, being calm and collected, was the first to react. He turned his head and saw that Bridal and the others were still staring blankly at the enormous creature, so he said softly, "Everyone, step back."
Breeddo and the others immediately realized what was happening, nodded repeatedly, and slowly retreated while remaining fully alert.
But just as they retreated, a red light burst forth from the enormous eyes of the colossal creature, as if it had been startled by something, and let out a deafening roar, like the howl of a tiger or the cry of a dragon. Everyone present covered their ears, but they still felt a buzzing in their ears.
As everyone was still in shock, the enormous snake suddenly moved. Its huge tail, which had been submerged in the lake water, swept out and instantly created a water curtain that was several meters high and tens of meters wide, which swept towards Chao Bufan and the others. Among the water splashes, there were also snake tails mixed in, sweeping across with boundless energy.
Even before the water splashed several feet away, the powerful wind rushed towards them, almost making them lose their footing. If they were hit by this tsunami-like curtain of water, or touched the giant snake's tail, they would likely be pulverized. Without a second thought, they quickly used their flying techniques, steer their respective aircraft in a frantic retreat. As Chao Bufan fled, he casually waved his hand, instantly creating several solid earthen walls behind him, before disappearing into the air, instantly reaching hundreds of meters away.
However, the water curtain moved with lightning speed, faster than any movement. Before Bridal and the others had even flown a foot, almost as soon as they made a move, the water curtain overtook them. The sound of the water was like thunder, almost right next to their ears. Their whole bodies tensed, their minds almost completely clear. In this life-or-death moment, they all shouted in unison, urging their aircraft to fly upwards with all their might, but after flying a little over a foot off the ground, they felt a chill run through their bodies.
"Boom!"
With a deafening roar, the seemingly indestructible earthen walls crumbled almost simultaneously, yet they failed to hold back the water curtain in the slightest. Amidst the crashing sound, Bridal and the others were swept into the giant wave, instantly soaked to the bone. The four screamed in terror as they were scattered by the overwhelming force, flung wildly in four different directions.
Chao Bufan was terrified and tried to catch them one by one, but the power of this giant wave was immense; in an instant, it had already thrown the four of them a great distance. Seeing the towering wave crashing and roaring towards them, Chao Bufan frowned, knowing he couldn't retreat any longer, or Bridal and the others would likely be dead. Just as he hesitated, the giant wave arrived as expected, pushing him forward and tumbling through the spray.
Bridal and the others were struck by the giant wave. Suddenly, they felt an overwhelming force sweeping past them from below. Their bodies trembled, and even though they weren't hit by the giant tail, their vision went black, and they almost fainted. If they hadn't known that this was truly a matter of life and death and hadn't managed to stay conscious, they probably would have died.
Even so, the sweeping force of the colossal creature's serpentine tail was immense. Breeddo and the others were all shaken to their core, their bones aching as if they were about to be torn to pieces. Moreover, they were all thrown far away by the giant wave.
Of the four, Bridal was the first to react. He was in mid-air, feeling himself being involuntarily propelled forward. He quickly used the momentum to steady himself, and as he flipped over, he looked down to see that the mountain-like waves and the enormous snake tail had instantly swallowed Fenrit and the others, but Chao Bufan was nowhere to be seen. Without thinking, he leaped into the air, his hands forming a gesture. A white light flashed, and the magic wand in his hand burst forth with light, instantly transforming into a thick gray earthen wall behind him.
Just as the earthen wall suddenly appeared, Fenrit and the other two also woke up one after another. They all used all their skills to the fullest without reservation. Lightning Release, Fire Release, and Ice Shield appeared almost simultaneously, blocking behind each other.
The four protective shields actually managed to block the giant wave for a moment. In mid-air, the giant wave piled up like a mountain, with a thunderous roar that was extremely terrifying.
Seeing that their protective shield had not been breached in time, the four were overjoyed. Taking advantage of this brief respite, they all urged their aircraft to take off. But just then, the commotion in the giant waves suddenly intensified and boomed. The huge white snake tail swept across them at that moment.
In the blink of an eye, the four shields of earth, ice, lightning, and fire were reduced to ashes, unable to withstand the giant tail for even a moment. Just as the four were about to be struck by the giant tail, at the critical moment, they all felt a powerful external force arrive as fast as lightning, supporting them from beneath the force. They narrowly avoided the deadly blow, but were still hit by the residual force. Their bodies felt light, and the four were thrown far away again.
The force of the enormous snake's tail sweeping across the air was unimaginable. In mid-air, Bullido felt the wind whistling past his ears, and he was involuntarily thrown backward.
