Chapter 344 Saved a Person
Chapter 344 Saved a Person
After admiring the plum blossoms, it was time for lunch, so Zhen Jinhe led them to the dining hall.
"The vegetarian food here is delicious, and people come here especially for it. We should go early so that there won't be any seats left."
When they arrived, there were already quite a few people in the dining hall.
The servants brought vegetarian food, which Jia Hu mostly enjoyed as wild mountain vegetables. He found it quite interesting. No wonder people came from far and wide to eat it.
We used the food to eat, and after wandering around the mountain for a while, we headed back down.
Zhen Jinhe had a very busy schedule. Now that they were going down the mountain, they would arrive in the city just in time for the storyteller to start telling his new story.
None of them had ever heard storytelling in a teahouse before. Jia Zhen usually listened to stories told to him by Jia Hu.
Zhen Jinhe continued to act as the introducer.
"The storyteller in this teahouse has an amazing ventriloquism skill. When he imitates things, he makes you feel as if you are there, as if those things are right in front of you. His skill is truly remarkable."
These words piqued Jia Hu's interest. He had seen videos of some ventriloquist masters, and their performances were truly amazing. Being able to see one in person this time fulfilled a childhood wish of his.
Once they reached the foot of the mountain, they boarded a carriage and headed back. Situ Minghe and the others played a jigsaw puzzle game, but Jia Hu didn't want to participate and instead closed his eyes to rest.
The swaying of the carriage was so comfortable that Jia Hu felt drowsy.
He was afraid of catching a cold if he slept outside that day, so Jia Hu tried to stay awake, but he soon felt sleepy again.
Swaying back and forth in such a small space in the carriage can easily make one sleepy, so Jia Hu lifted a corner of the carriage window to look out, thinking that looking at the scenery would help him shake off his drowsiness.
As Jia Hu looked ahead, he wondered if something was moving in the ditch by the roadside.
Jia Hu immediately shouted to stop the carriage. The carriage stopped and got closer to the ditch. Jia Hu looked and saw that there seemed to be a person in the ditch.
Jia Hu called for the carriage to stop, but Situ Minghe and the others were unaware of what had happened.
Situ Minghe asked:
"Little brother Hu'er, what's wrong?"
Jia Hu said uncertainly:
"There seems to be someone in that ditch over there."
Jia Hu sent his guards to check if there was a person in the ditch.
"Young Master, there is a person in this ditch."
Upon hearing this, Jia Hu realized he hadn't misread it, so he opened the curtain and got off the carriage. Situ Minghe and the others followed him down.
How could someone be in a ditch in this desolate place?
Several guards jumped into the ditch and pulled the man out.
Jia Hu was shocked again when he saw that the person who had been rescued was dressed in thin clothes in such weather. His exposed hands and legs looked like withered tree branches, and there were many wounds on them. He should be quite tall, but he was very thin, and his face was dark and red.
It looked so terrible; the children had never seen anyone in such a terrible state before, and they were all stunned.
The guards checked and replied:
"Young Master, this person is still alive, but he is too badly injured and has a fever."
Other servants had already brought blankets, and the guards wrapped the man up. Dressed so thinly, he would have frozen to death as soon as it got dark if he hadn't been discovered.
Zhen Jinhe said:
"Is it really that bad? He even fell into a ditch. Could someone be robbing him?"
Jia Hu:
"We'll only know what happened when he wakes up. We can't go to the teahouse now; we need to find a clinic and someone to save him as soon as possible."
Everyone agreed that listening to storytelling at a teahouse could be done anytime, but this was a matter of life and death.
The guards lifted the man onto the carriage, and the group hurried towards the city's traditional Chinese medicine clinic.
