Chapter 34 The Death of an Obese Man
Chapter 34 The Death of an Obese Man
After finishing their work smoothly the next day, Liu Chun and the others were not in a hurry to return to their residence. The four of them discussed going directly to the secretary to ask if they could select one or two of them to do the cleaning. Only by joining the cleaning team would they have a chance to get close to the factory boss, Si Huajin.
After reaching the designated floor, the clever group quickly found the secretary's office, knocked on the door, and went inside.
At this very moment, in the office, a woman dressed in a tight black business suit is sitting with her legs crossed, humming a tune, looking completely at ease.
She only put her legs down when she saw someone come in.
"Hmm, hmm, I heard from that fatso that one or two of you are going to the health department, is that right?" As she spoke, her eyes were fixed on the four people who were approaching, as if she could see right through them.
Pang Wenke stepped forward with a grin and replied, "Yes, yes, that's us. I wonder if Secretary, you have any suitable cleaning positions available? We've been willing to work hard since we were young, and we can do any job, no matter how dirty or tiring. We just hope you can give us a chance to try."
"So, that means I'm in charge?"
"Yes."
She stood up from her seat and began to observe Liu Chun and the others. Pang Wenke was too clever and cunning; she definitely couldn't bring him into the cleaning department.
That leaves Liu Chun, Zhang Man, and Pang Weixiong!
Women only affect how well they speak to the boss, so Pang Weixiong was naturally pulled out, leaving only Liu Chun and the other two.
"These two young men are quite good-looking, it's just a pity they're a bit old."
Who are you calling old?
Liu Chun angrily pounded on her from behind, almost kicking her away.
"Alright, Ah Wen can take his sister and leave now. The remaining two can stay and start cleaning from now on."
"OK."
……
At first, the secretary kept a close eye on their work progress, but gradually, when there was nothing left to see, she left and went back to her office to scroll through her phone to pass the time.
Before she came out, Liu Chun and the others started discussing: "Brother Zhang Man, I'll go up and see if we ordinary people can get close to Boss Si Huajin's office, and then come back down."
"Go ahead without worry. I'll keep an eye on things here. Even if we get caught, it won't matter. I have plenty of excuses in mind."
"That's good."
So Liu Chun kept watching outside the secretary's office. When she wasn't paying attention, she slipped to the other side, confirmed with Brother Zhang Man, and then grabbed a broom and headed straight for the rooftop.
I wonder where these people got so many boxes filled with 'antiques' and what they're planning to do with them? If the power inside leaks out, then most of the people in the factory will die.
Or is it that they have a use for these things?
As Liu Chun walked, he pondered, one idea after another surfacing in his mind, trying to guess what the ending would be like.
However, there are too few clues right now, and he can't possibly deduce things he doesn't know in the first place. So he needs to learn more information first.
Si Huajin's office is the best place to explore, as if he were a walking encyclopedia.
Along the way, Liu Chun carefully avoided several other sanitation workers who suddenly appeared. When they saw him, they were not suspicious, but just looked at him curiously and walked past.
"Count the floors, we should be almost there." Liu Chun checked the floor and unconsciously slowed down his pace.
As Liu Chuncai peeked out from the corner of the last floor, a sudden jolt forced him to quickly pull his head back in.
Just like in that scene, the last corridor was filled with a group of fully armed elite personnel, or mercenaries, and each of them looked very fierce.
Thinking that his reaction speed would allow him to avoid being discovered, someone still walked towards the direction of the building: "Who's there? If you don't come out, we're going to shoot."
"Don't get me wrong, I'm just cleaning... I just happened to be passing by. I'm so sorry, I can leave right away."
"Wait a moment!"
Seeing Liu Chun turn around and try to run away, several mercenaries called him back and walked towards him.
It took Liu Chun a while to react before he asked them with a grin, "What are your orders, gentlemen?"
The mercenary sized him up carefully and, seeing that he was indeed a sanitation worker, relaxed his guard considerably.
"Who sent you here?"
Liu Chun reacted quickly: "It's just cleaning. If there's a dirty spot, you have to clean it thoroughly, right?"
Then he saw some cigarette ash on the ground behind the mercenaries that hadn't been swept up, so he ran over and started cleaning it up without a second thought, not at all afraid that they would actually shoot and kill him.
The leader quickly looked at his teammates, who were excitedly raising their guns, and said, "What's the big deal? They're just helping us clean up. If you all make such a fuss, who will dare to come up to the roof in the future?"
The mercenaries all holstered their weapons and lowered their guard.
After cleaning up, Liu Chun thought about leaving again.
The mercenary leader grabbed him and asked, "Are you afraid of us?"
Liu Chun responded blankly, "This place has been cleaned up. I need to go check on the other places. It's still my working hours."
"Okay, you can go now."
After Liu Chun left, the mercenaries immediately opened the last door and went inside.
Having learned the basic situation, Liu Chun returned downstairs and stayed with Brother Zhang Man.
Just then, the secretary came out of the office: "You two need to keep these floors completely clean. I have to go out for a bit."
"Okay, Secretary."
After she left, Liu Chun shared the information with Brother Zhang Man, and then said, "...In short, we can't go to the top floor for the time being. There are too many mercenaries there. I'm afraid we'll be riddled with bullets before we even get into Si Huajin's office."
Brother Zhang Man sighed helplessly, "It seems we can only turn our attention to those factories down there. Hopefully, Pang Wenke and the other man can get jobs there; that might improve our situation."
"Let's see how it goes tonight. If it doesn't work out, we'll have to leave."
……
That evening, the mercenaries on the rooftop swarmed into the office of the obese interviewer and took him away.
When Liu Chun and his three companions were ready to return to look for the man, the obese man had already disappeared.
"Wait, where is this fatso?" Pang Wenke sighed helplessly, wondering where he could have gone at this late hour.
"Come quickly and look outside!"
As Liu Chun and the others looked outside, Zhang Man felt a growing sense of fear. He saw a large number of people in the place where Li Qi and the others had been taken away, and among the voices coming from there was the voice of a fat man.
"No, what... what happened?"
Pang Wenke pulled the two back and hurriedly said, "While they haven't returned yet, let's go back and get some rest. Let's pretend this never happened, and it would be best if we could find a way to leave this Huajin factory."
"etc!"
When Liu Chun looked towards their residence again, there were already mercenaries guarding outside.
"We may have already been detected by the other side, and right now our most important task is to protect ourselves."
