Chapter 108 Flesh and Blood Distortion
Chapter 108 Flesh and Blood Distortion
On the highway leading from the suburbs to the city of Rom.
Two medical vehicles belonging to Rockwell Röhm Hospital are moving at a constant speed.
In the back of the carriage, four people who had been rescued from the out-of-control carriage were lying on stretchers.
Previously, thanks to Dr. Grayson's emergency treatment, the dislocated joints of the individuals had been reset, and their vital signs were stable.
The car was quiet, with only the sound of everyone breathing.
And that faint, yet undeniable, smell of disinfectant.
The three medical staff and the police officer who followed them were somewhat wary, glancing at the unconscious people from time to time.
Overall, the atmosphere inside the car wasn't too oppressive.
Dr. Grayson sat quietly at the back, his gaze thoughtfully fixed on the distance ahead.
Suddenly, his gaze sharpened, and a strange sense of unease welled up inside him.
Grayson's gaze moved downwards, sweeping over the people on the stretchers one by one.
His movements were so subtle that no one else in the car noticed anything unusual.
Dr. Grayson glanced at the people on the stretcher but didn't notice anything unusual. He then looked at the other medical staff and the police officer.
No problems were found.
After hesitating for a moment, Grayson suddenly changed his posture, placing his left hand on the back of his right hand, while simultaneously making three very small inward flicks with his right index finger.
As the action was completed, a barely perceptible look of bewilderment appeared in Dr. Grayson's eyes.
The scene he saw underwent some subtle changes at that moment.
Before Grayson could focus his gaze on the people in the car, suddenly, the suppressed groans that had been emanating from one of the men lying on the stretcher changed tone, as if something was violently pounding inside his abdomen.
The nurse in charge of the care also noticed the abnormality first.
She watched as the man's once flat abdomen swelled up at a visible speed, like a constantly inflating sac. In just a few seconds, it bulged into an exaggerated arc, and under the taut skin, twisted bulges were clearly visible wriggling and moving rapidly, as if they were about to burst out of his body at any moment.
"Doctor! Dr. Grayson!" The nurse's scream shattered the tranquility of the carriage.
Almost simultaneously, a female wounded woman on a stretcher next to her also developed the exact same symptoms. Her abdomen swelled up even faster, her skin stretched almost transparent, and bluish-purple blood vessels bulged out. The writhing things inside even pushed out clear outlines of limbs, accompanied by a chilling, sticky sound.
Grayson stood up instantly, his pale golden eyes narrowing sharply.
Without the slightest hesitation, he raised his right hand, and an invisible barrier instantly enveloped the entire carriage.
The medical staff and the police officer suddenly stopped moving, and even their pupils showed no reaction.
The scene Grayson saw was more distorted and twisted than what actually happened.
The veins on his forehead gradually became visible.
Pale golden holy runes spread from his palm, like a fine net, precisely covering the abdomens of the two wounded men who had undergone the strange changes.
This is an extraordinary power belonging to the Holy Path of the Undying.
The light, imbued with the constant power of life, under Grayson's control, forcibly restrained the mutated flesh and blood that were proliferating wildly within the two men's abdomens.
The bloated abdomen visibly slowed its expansion, and the frantically writhing bulge under the skin seemed to freeze, its movements becoming sluggish, but the already bloated abdomen did not shrink in the slightest.
The two wounded men's painful groans gradually subsided, but Grayson's expression did not ease at all; instead, it became even more serious.
He could clearly sense that the power hidden within his flesh and blood was extremely strange, carrying a frenzied proliferative and polluting nature.
Even he, a three-seal spirit envoy of the Undying Holy Path, could only suppress it temporarily.
Just then, the vehicle came to a sudden stop, and a powerful inertia made Grayson realize something was wrong.
The spiritual barrier shattered at that moment, and everyone regained their senses.
But their bodies tilted to one side due to inertia.
Screams erupted again inside the carriage.
"Don't panic."
Grayson suddenly spoke loudly, his tone carrying a convincing power.
His gaze sharpened, and he stopped paying attention to the situation inside the car.
He has basically brought the situation under control here.
"Keep an eye on these people."
Grayson gave his final instructions, then quickly opened the carriage door and went down to the ground.
He quickly walked around the carriage and turned his gaze to the first medical vehicle in front of him.
At that moment, heart-wrenching screams came from inside the car, followed by continuous gunfire and inhuman roars.
Bang bang bang.
The door of the vehicle in front was smashed by some kind of tremendous force, leaving several bulges.
Grayson realized that things were not going well.
His spiritual vision was still active at that moment.
In his eyes, a faint, dim yellowish-red halo flashed across the carriage door ahead.
Grayson's heart sank. He had just managed to suppress the situation here and had no time to rush to the front to deal with it when the incident had already taken the worst turn.
Although there were still a group of conscious medical staff and police officers present, Grayson couldn't care less about them at that moment.
He connected with the power of the Holy Seal, and fine golden lines began to appear on his body. These lines converged in his palm, forming a special pattern.
Just as Grayson was gathering his strength.
There was a loud bang.
The door of the vehicle in front was finally smashed open with tremendous force.
A figure covered in blood suddenly darted out from inside.
The other party's form was distorted, and it was already the size of an adult. It had two horns on its head and multiple hands and feet of varying sizes, randomly distributed on its non-human-like body.
Grayson squinted and, through his spiritual vision, saw a unique aura emanating from the other person, a mixture of dark red and dim yellow.
The monster was incredibly fast, and in the blink of an eye it had already darted over a hundred meters.
Grayson couldn't catch up at all and could only watch the other person leave.
He quickly looked at the vehicles ahead, his gaze sweeping into the carriages, his expression extremely grave.
The deformed carriage doors were flung to both sides, and blood flowed continuously from the carriage onto the ground.
The armed police officer was leaning against the innermost part of the carriage, holding a pistol in the same firing stance, his eyes still showing shock and panic.
A blood-red, distorted monster clung to the edge of the carriage. Its body still had the outline of an underdeveloped human, but it had several twisted limbs. Its head was a blurry mass of flesh and blood, with several sharp horns that had not yet fully grown out.
The monster was lying on the edge of the carriage, its body twitching from time to time, and the blood was flowing out from several holes in its body.
The monster's flesh was melting rapidly.
Grayson rushed forward, his gaze sweeping over the monster. Through his spiritual vision, he confirmed that the chaotic spirituality emanating from the monster was disappearing.
Clearly, the policeman who got on the bus with them played a role.
His gaze fell on the officer, and he noticed that blood was seeping from one of the officer's arms.
The torn clothing at the bleeding point was clearly from an attack by the monster.
Grayson's gaze swept quickly over the people in the car.
Two people on stretchers had their abdomens mangled and bloody.
Of the other three medical staff, two appeared to be uninjured.
However, one nurse's arm had begun to show abnormal redness, swelling, and wriggling.
The nurse looked shocked and bewildered, and she looked at Grayson with a pleading look in her eyes.
She knew that this reclusive doctor had many strange rumors about him, which she used to just listen to as gossip, but now she believed them.
"Dr. Grayson..."
The nurse's voice trembled as she tried to walk toward Grayson.
"Don't move anything! Don't touch anything with blood!"
Grayson's voice carried an undeniable air of authority.
He strode forward without hesitation and once again used the power of the Undying Holy Path to provide emergency suppression for the injured. His gaze swept over everyone present and finally settled on the pool of pus and blood.
It is a contamination of extraordinary power in the flesh and blood type.
Looking at the scene before him, Grayson felt a chill run down his spine.
This level of blood and flesh contamination has long been listed by the Torchbearers as one of the most dangerous extraordinary events, and the consequences would be unimaginable if it were to spread.
