Chapter 27 Rumors Begin with Intellectual Disability
Chapter 27 Rumors Begin with Intellectual Disability
Goblin lives are cheap; hunting, taming, gathering, and raiding are all dangerous. For the goblins of the Broken Tooth tribe, simply surviving means risking their lives.
Aside from those who are executed, goblins die almost every month for various reasons.
Falling into a trap, being injured by wild animals, being killed by humans, dying of illness, dying of old age...
This month, the Broken Tooth tribe suffered particularly severe losses.
Geb's squad was wiped out (except for Geb himself). Later, because the herbs were stolen, the two goblins were punished, but they didn't survive either and died a few days later.
Adding to the loss of Nian'er Huai, who died in the animal pen, the Broken Tooth tribe lost 10 people in just one week, all of whom were strong and able-bodied.
Even someone as ruthless as the old shaman would feel a pang of sympathy.
The death of Nian'er Huai, in particular, caused a minor ripple in the goblin camp.
This guy usually bullies the weak and fears the strong. Relying on his relationship with the old shaman and "Unhappy," he uses his position as a cook to cut back on rations. The ordinary goblins have long resented him. This time, he was unlucky enough to be scolded and demoted to shoveling manure, which most of the goblins applauded.
But this guy suddenly died, and died so tragically, killed by the giant hyena... The little fat guy's fate was beyond everyone's expectations.
Although the old shaman was ruthless, he was quite lenient with his close confidants.
Everyone thought that after shoveling poop for a few days, the chubby boy would go back to being a cook once the resentment in the camp subsided.
After all, the hierarchy in this camp hasn't changed in a long time. If someone is unhappy, they are unhappy; a cook is a cook, and an old shaman is an old shaman. That's how things should be.
As a result, the chubby boy was gone just like that. The tribe lost a pillar of support, which was very unsettling.
Some people believe that, although it was an accident, the fact that the old shaman failed to protect Nian'er Huai proves that something is changing.
Magnubiye did not comply with the old shaman's wishes... Magnubiye did not bless the little fat boy.
So, does that mean Magnubiye will no longer protect the old shaman? Has the old shaman lost the blessing of the gods?
This is an extremely dangerous idea. Most goblins wouldn't dare utter it—want to die? Getting eaten by a bear would be a quicker death.
However, Poopo, or "Brainless," is not your average goblin.
Recently, a rumor has been circulating in the community:
"Clumsy" encountered a god in the forest!
-----------------
A group of goblins lit a campfire deep in the forest, their faces weary... After a morning and a half of hunting, they were empty-handed and their faces were green with hunger—no, they were greener than normal goblins.
"This is ridiculous! Lately, we haven't been able to hunt anything in this forest, not even a rabbit. And it's not even winter yet, what's going on?"
"A skinny goblin complained."
Another goblin chimed in, sounding annoyed:
"Magnubier must be angry. I guess it's because Gebu's group did something to anger the gods. They all died, and the gods are taking their anger out on us."
Everyone was hungry and in a terrible mood; their complaints quickly turned into curses.
The cursing continued, but after a while, everyone ran out of steam—their stomachs were growling, and it was best to save their energy.
Just as the goblins were looking worried, a wonderful aroma of roasted meat wafted out from the forest.
goo—
The goblins swallowed hard, exchanging bewildered glances.
After a moment, one of the bolder goblins couldn't resist any longer. He picked up his spear, stood up, and ventured deeper into the woods. The other goblins quickly followed.
After walking for two minutes, the lead goblin emerged from a thicket of bushes, and in the open space in front of him stood a fragrant roasted suckling pig.
The roasting skewer sat on the charcoal fire, the flames licking the piglet's oily, crispy skin—the heat was just right.
Amazingly, it seemed as if an invisible force was rotating the roast suckling pig, ensuring that the skin was heated evenly.
The goblins were dumbfounded, drool dripping from their mouths onto their feet.
"Is...is this real?"
"Am I dreaming?"
A goblin slapped himself, almost knocking him to the ground.
The bold goblin took a step forward, looked around, and saw his stomach churning wildly—it was so uncomfortable! He had to have a bite!
The aroma of the roast suckling pig was like an invisible hand, pulling the goblin by the neck and dragging him in front of the pig.
The goblin closed its eyes and took a bite of the roast suckling pig.
Awooo, snap.
The goblin world has exploded.
The fat bursts in your mouth, the pork skin is roasted until crispy, hot, and melts in your mouth. The juicy pork is springy but not tough at all.
The perfect balance of fat and protein in the dish dances on the goblin's tongue.
The lead goblin lost its mind, ignoring the burning embers, and began to frantically devour the pig.
The other goblins couldn't resist joining in when they saw their leader eating by himself.
"Leave some for me!"
The goblins rushed forward and, in a flurry of activity, tore the suckling pig to pieces.
Awoooooo!
It smells amazing! It smells so good!
These goblins were from the cattle and horse class. They usually only saw the bear boss eating meat, while they could only drink gruel—they had never seen such a scene before!
The meat, marinated in spices, was incredibly flavorful (thanks to Gebu's herbal knowledge). These goblins, however, couldn't discern anything special from it; they only knew one word:
Fragrant!
Two words:
good to eat!
Three words:
Go all out!
In less than ten minutes, a roast suckling pig was devoured by a dozen goblins. They ate with greasy mouths, licking their fingers, and even chewed up the bones before swallowing them.
Having filled their bellies, the goblins slumped to the ground in disarray.
These guys had just experienced the happiest day of their goblin lives—completely unaware of the red eyes staring intently at them from the tree.
"How dare you partake of the offerings given to Magnubiye!!!"
Suddenly, the leader goblin had this thought pop into his head.
"Magnubbie's ass!" The goblin flipped over and jumped up from the ground, nearly fainting from fright.
The other goblins looked at him strangely, wondering what had happened.
"Are you hallucinating from eating too much meat?" the goblin next to him mocked.
But less than two seconds later, the guy's expression changed.
The voices echoed in the goblins' minds one after another.
One by one, these goblins seemed to be possessed. Some crawled on the ground trembling, some waved their crude weapons around wildly, some cursed, and some begged for mercy, making quite a scene.
Finally, the goblin that had eaten the pig first couldn't take it anymore and fled towards the edge of the forest.
pat.
A shadow leaped down from the tree and landed right in front of him.
"What the hell!" The goblin was so frightened that he sat down on the ground with a thud.
"Magnubie said that whoever eats His food becomes His goblin," Poopo said, turning around to the terrified goblin in front of him.
After saying that, he gave a simple, honest smile, and the dagger at his waist gleamed.
"Magnubier said that if you dare to run, I can stab your ass."
"Huh..." The goblin was completely confused, but after glancing at the dagger at his waist, he dared not argue.
The goblin slowly moved forward, and the fleeing goblin quickly turned around, using all four legs to escape back to the open space in a panic.
The little green things huddled together in fear, too afraid to utter a sound under Poo Poo's tyrannical power. Meanwhile, Gebu hid in the bushes nearby, remotely controlling Poo Poo's actions from a very close distance.
"Don't let them get away, yes, now, repeat what we said..."
Following the instructions in his mind, the red-eyed goblin repeated each word carefully:
"The Broken Tooth tribe has been abandoned by the gods! Magnubiye is deeply disappointed in his servants! Now, He will send down a new divine chosen one to lead the tribe to a bright future! (Pause here!)"
The goblins looked puzzled.
"I didn't tell you to say that. And don't say it either. Never mind, cough cough." He read it aloud with a stick, his face expressionless, even his cough sounding stiff.
He wasn't embarrassed at all; he didn't even know what he was saying.
"Witness, witness, witness, the miracles of Magnubier."
Suddenly, a strangely shaped bat flew out of the sky and spewed flames in the air!
The flames struck the ground around the goblins—the oil that had been laid out beforehand ignited instantly, and a ring of fire suddenly rose around them.
"Magnubie! Save us!" The goblins were terrified and huddled together.
Seeing that the groundwork had been laid, Gebu jumped out of the bushes, shook his clothes, and made his unhurried entrance.
That morning, besides setting up the roast suckling pig, he did nothing else but pose for photos.
Geb wore an overcoat made of several different animal hides, with a circle of bear fur around his neck—his body was covered with bottles, herbs, and animal bone trophies, which made a rustling sound as he walked.
The little goblin had a giant bear skull on its head, and a pair of large amber eyes gleamed with cunning from the skull's eye sockets.
Tongtong stepped forward and, with a thud, knelt down prostrate before Gebu.
"Magnubie the Chosen!" Poo Poo shouted, making sure all the goblins heard him.
The goblins were initially surprised to see Gebu appear, but when they saw that one of the tribe's most ruthless men had submitted to him, no one dared to utter a sound!
At the same time, the strange bat circled halfway through the air and landed on Gebu's hand—
The bat folded its wings and, in the blink of an eye, transformed into a giant toad.
"Croak—"
Geb stroked the toad, smiling calmly. In the firelight, this small goblin's figure appeared so imposing.
"Boys, Magnubie has something to say to you through my throat..."
He spoke to the goblins, who were half fearful and half confused. His voice was authoritative and chilling.
"The Broken Tooth Tribe shouldn't be like this!"
