Chapter 7 Breeze Technique
Chapter 7 Breeze Technique
He imagined a small vortex forming at the core of his mind, like a miniature projection of a magic circle on a canvas.
Thoughts guide the stars to dance and outline naturally within the spiritual world...
Soon a stable, dynamic, rhythmic cyan symbol was sketched out in the spiritual world.
It worked! I didn't expect to be able to successfully draw the symbol on my first attempt.
Li Ang suppressed his inner elation, focusing his mind on a suffocating, musty-smelling patch of air in the corner of the room.
"disperse"
An invisible, extremely faint fluctuation of airflow spread out from his fingertips.
Like a pebble thrown into calm water, the stagnant air was gently pushed aside and diluted, quickly merging into the surrounding airflow continuously purified by the [Wind-Riding Canvas].
The whole process was silent, yet remarkably effective; the musty smell in the corner disappeared.
"Convergence"
This time, he chose to direct the relatively fresh air seeping in through the crack in the door toward himself.
A faint, fresh breeze, carrying the salty scent of the ocean, swirled across his face, bringing a refreshing coolness.
"Just as I expected!"
Li Ang was overjoyed.
Once you understand that the [Gentle Breeze] technique originates from the same source as canvas manipulation, releasing it becomes exceptionally easy and fluid, with almost no stiffness that beginners should experience.
His playful side emerged, and he began to try more precise manipulations, condensing a small, rotating vortex in his palm.
A gentle breeze swiftly swept across the ground, swirling up a few dry blades of grass.
They even tried to mimic the effect of canvas, creating a small, circulating airflow within the confined room...
Just as he was focused on manipulating a slightly stronger airflow, trying to compress it into a more concentrated beam of wind to hit a fly on the opposite wall.
"Whoosh!"
The airflow struck the rotten wooden planks, producing a sound much louder than during previous practice sessions, accompanied by a rustling of sawdust and dead flies falling to the ground.
"It's done! The power seems to be..." Before Li Ang could even savor the success of his attack, a violent kicking sound and a familiar, drafty roar came from outside.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
"Li Ang! What are you doing in there, you bastard? It's so noisy!"
It was Matthew's voice, filled with irritability and anger at being disturbed. His lisping made the threat seem comical, but the malice within it only increased.
"My lord, this kid is definitely up to something shady again, making such a commotion and disturbing your meditation."
Kavina's rough backing vocals followed closely behind.
Li Ang couldn't help but snort coldly:
"Hmph, just in time!"
He quickly composed himself, and the stars in his mental world flickered slightly as his mental energy prepared to be unleashed.
"Squeak—Bang!" The rotten bolt was no match for Kavi's brute force. The wooden door was kicked open roughly and slammed against the bulkhead behind it, sending down even more dust.
Matthew's face was swollen, and the gap in his missing front tooth was particularly glaring in the dim light. He covered his still throbbing chin and stared at Li Ang in the room with a sinister look.
Kavi stood like a wall blocking the doorway, his face full of menacing features, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles cracked, clearly ready to strike at any moment.
"You sickly brat, was that noise you made just now? Are you looking to die?"
Matthew mumbled incoherently, spittle flying everywhere:
"I think you're asking for a beating again. I haven't settled the score with you for the boat rocking yesterday. Kavi, teach him a lesson."
"Yes, Chief."
With a savage grin, Kavi's massive body, accompanied by a gust of wind, pounced on Li Ang, who was curled up on a haystack, like a raging bull.
A large, fan-like hand, accompanied by a whistling sound, slapped hard across Li Ang's cheek.
If this hits hard, given Li Ang's current poor health, he'll probably lose half his life here.
A fierce glint flashed in Li Ang's eyes. Instead of dodging, he raised his right hand to face the direction from which Kavi was lunging.
There were no spells, no complicated gestures.
In the spiritual world, the cyan star suddenly shone brightly, and wind elemental magic condensed and compressed in the palm of the hand before exploding instantly.
"Get out of here!"
Li Ang gave a low shout.
An invisible wave of energy, far stronger than during his previous practice, surged forth from his palm.
It was no longer the gentle breeze of before, but a shockwave with a howling sound, which slammed hard into Kavi's broad chest in front of him.
"Huh?"
The sneer on Kavi's face froze instantly, replaced by extreme astonishment. He felt a tremendous force strike his chest, as if he had been hit head-on by an invisible battering ram!
"Bang-"
A loud thud, ten times louder than when the fly was swatted, exploded out like a heavy object falling to the ground.
Kavina's burly body was instantly lifted off the ground, and like a tattered sack, he was directly blown away by the violent shockwave.
His massive body traced a brief arc in the air before slamming heavily against the bulkhead opposite the narrow passage.
With a loud "boom," the rotten wooden cabin wall was smashed inward, causing a large dent, and dust and wood chips fell like rain.
Kavi collapsed to the ground like a lump of mud, curling up and making a hoarse sound as if he were being choked.
He clutched his chest tightly with both hands, his face turning from red to blue, his eyes bulging, clearly unable to breathe and even scream, his body convulsing violently.
All of this happened in the blink of an eye, leaving Matthew at the door completely dumbfounded.
His face, which had been contorted with rage and malice, was instantly replaced by utter horror and bewilderment. His mouth opened involuntarily, revealing a comical yet grotesque gaping wound, and his eyes widened as if he were witnessing the most unbelievable sight in the world.
What just happened?
His burly follower, Kavi, who could tear tigers and leopards apart... was sent flying by that consumptive devil he regarded as someone he could crush at any moment... with a single wave of his hand?
A bone-chilling cold instantly shot from the soles of Matthew's feet to the top of his head, causing his swollen cheeks to lose all color.
He stiffly turned his neck to look inside the room.
In the dim light, Li Ang slowly lowered his right hand, his face still pale, and he was even panting heavily from the outburst just now, with occasional suppressed coughs.
But those eyes, at this moment, were like icicles, coldly and without a trace of emotion, fixed on Matthew's face.
There was no fear in those eyes, nor the joy that should follow victory; only a coldness that made Matthew's soul tremble.
Matthew instinctively took a few steps back and bumped into the door frame. Kavi lay on the ground, making a hoarse, hissing sound like a broken bellows.
In that instant, fear, like a venomous snake, coiled around his heart. This consumptive... what... what had he done?!
