Chapter 16 Have a Sweet Dream
Chapter 16 Have a Sweet Dream
The sunlight gently shone down, eventually landing on Su Jue.
"Fang Qi!" Su Jue woke up with a start.
He rarely dreams, but unfortunately, it wasn't a good dream.
In his dream, after the great fire took away his parents, the gods appeared, and Su Huai faced them alone, ultimately being killed.
"Awake?" Xu Menghe, wearing pajamas, leaned against the door frame. "That guy was really scary. I don't know what happened, but he almost killed you with just a few punches."
"Where is he?" Su Jue asked anxiously, pulling back the covers.
"He's gone. By the way, Fang Qi agreed to join the New World to save you." Xu Menghe immediately turned around and closed the door. "I don't recommend you go looking for him. Even I can't find their exact location. He vanished into thin air after he left that day. None of the surveillance cameras around here captured him. Besides, you can't beat him."
She still had a mission to complete, and ever since Su Jue saved her that day, she had indeed come to regard Su Jue as a friend.
Su Jue stopped getting out of bed after hearing that Fang Qi had been taken away because of her.
"What?" He looked at Xu Menghe in disbelief.
"Fang Qi, for..." Xu Menghe opened the door again and walked in, pointing at Su Jue: "You, you took the initiative to accept his invitation and left with him."
What shocked him was not that Fang Qi had been arrested, but that Fang Qi had voluntarily left with someone else for his own sake.
First, Pei Min was seriously injured because of him. At the time, he made up an excuse for himself, saying that it was because Pei Min was stronger than him. That was pity and sympathy.
But what about Fang Qi?
Why should he sacrifice himself for me? Didn't I take him with me to save Fang Qi? Why am I the one who needs to be rescued in the end? Why is Su Jue the one who gets rescued in the end?
"The reaction wasn't what I expected." Xu Menghe tossed down a set of clothes and hurried out the door. "Your clothes are torn. I have a few more neutral ones; you can make do with those."
After Xu Menghe left, her voice came back into the room: "Just between you and me, I don't think you can do anything for Fang Qi by staying here doing nothing. You understand that, don't you?"
Su Jue sighed and lay down on the bed.
Ten years ago, that fire burned mercilessly, spread, and took everything away.
He was even prepared to die at that time, but perhaps fate was playing a trick on him. After the fire was over, he was rescued by the rescuers who arrived at the scene, and later he awakened the ability to control fire.
At first, he intentionally or unintentionally hid that power; he was afraid to face it.
Later, he was taken from the orphanage by a man who claimed to be his uncle, and he had a home again.
His long-term interaction with the seemingly unreliable, smiling man led him to fully trust him, so he revealed for the first time the person he had seen in the fire and his own magic.
"Maybe this is a gift left to you by your parents?"
Su Huai patted Su Jue's head.
He told Su Jue to make good use of this power, saying that it might help him uncover the truth.
From then on, he began to dedicate himself to the pursuit of the truth, and apart from that, he took almost nothing else seriously.
Later, whenever Su Jue had free time, she would search for monsters and read books, hoping to find the truth, even if it was just a little bit related, but she always came up empty-handed.
Until recently, the dead and the living, the human-faced demons. The Thousand-Faced Cult, puppets, the morgue, the new world. Sorcerers, the myriad faces of humanity, the end of the world.
More and more things related to the so-called truth swept into his life, which was not ordinary but ultimately very peaceful, like a flood.
Fang Qi, in particular, was someone he couldn't understand. He was timid but kind, seemingly a wonderful person, yet he also seemed to have a less-than-pleasant past.
Perhaps it was for the sake of the truth that when Fang Qi was entangled by Zhang Fuyin last time, he chose to save Fang Qi without hesitation. Su Jue saw his tears that day and was very sad; it was the first time in ten years that he had gently comforted someone.
Knowing that Fang Qi was wanted, he stayed despite the risk of being wanted himself. He talked to Fang Qi, wondering if it was because he hadn't explicitly told Fang Qi not to join the New World that day that he actually let Fang Qi leave with the people of the New World.
Su Jue sighed and picked up the clothes that Xu Menghe had just thrown at her.
He then realized that he wasn't wearing any clothes! There were only a few bandages covering his wounds.
Su Jue recalled that Xu Menghe had indeed been talking outside the door after she lifted the covers.
After Su Jue put on his clothes, he planned to do some recovery work, but he suddenly realized that he could no longer use the recovery ability that he had copied from Xu Menghe!
He immediately tried Liu Xue's technique, but still failed.
What about Jiang Qin's? He's gone too...
"Tsk..." Su Jue frowned and made one last attempt to release the spell.
Even fire...
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't draw the pattern.
This means that Su Jue has now become an ordinary person.
"Was it that guy who did it?" He recalled the scene of the high priest swallowing his own flames.
Su Jue pushed open the door and was surprised to find that the house was actually quite large.
Su Jue glanced around and saw that his room was on the second floor of a corner of the villa. There were six such rooms in total, both upstairs and downstairs.
"They're quite wealthy..." Su Jue remarked, then began to wander around.
"You're out? Come here." As if hearing the noise, Xu Menghe opened the door and peeked out from her room.
Su Jue stood at the doorway. The room was filled with dolls, and he couldn't even find a place to stand.
"Just come in, I'll show you something." Xu Menghe was operating the computer with one hand and grabbing potato chips from a bag with the other.
Su Jue stepped into the room through the gaps between the dolls and stopped three steps away from Xu Menghe.
Xu Menghe turned to look at Su Jue and opened the video on her computer: "This is what I filmed back then, take a look."
Su Jue stared intently at the contents of the computer screen, watching the arrow Fang Qi had shot.
"The key point is here." Xu Menghe paused the video and zoomed in on the screen. "His arrow, before it even touched the high priest's hand, the high priest's hand had already begun to disappear."
"But the information I read says his condition causes temporary blindness." Xu Menghe looked at Su Jue.
"That's what he said himself, or rather, that's what he felt." Su Jue crossed her arms and looked at the enlarged content on the computer screen.
"Looks like you didn't know either. Okay, you can go now." Xu Menghe pointed outside. "Remember to close the door behind you."
"Huh?" Su Jue was taken aback.
"You want to stay here forever? This is a girl's room." Xu Menghe looked at Su Jue helplessly.
"Oh, okay." Su Jue walked out the door along the way she came.
"He's usually quite smart," Xu Menghe complained.
"Oh, by the way, thank you for bandaging me." Before leaving, Su Jue thanked her.
"Shut up!" Xu Menghe blushed, picked up the doll next to her and threw it at her.
Su Jue thanked him and closed the door, thus missing the chance to enjoy the doll.
Back in his room, he began to sort out everything that had happened.
"From the moment I met Liu Xue..." Su Jue took out her phone's memo app and started typing non-stop.
Time flew by, and soon the moon took the place of the sun.
"Tell me all the information you know, especially anything related to warlocks. I'll compile both of our information and send it to you."
That night, Xu Menghe sent a message.
Su Jue thought for a moment and sent over what he had compiled throughout the day, but he concealed Su Huai's abilities and their whereabouts.
About ten minutes later, Xu Menghe sent a file.
"I'm exhausted today, I'm going to sleep now. Don't wake me up before 10 a.m. tomorrow. It would be even better if you could cook me a meal." Xu Menghe sent a message right after the document.
"Hmm." Su Jue responded simply and opened the file.
Just as he opened the file, a wave of dizziness hit Su Jue, and he quickly passed out.
It seemed as if he had fallen into a dream. The place was boundless, and Su Jue was floating in mid-air. Countless asteroids, like him, were drifting in this boundless land.
He seemed to realize something, and looked back. The planet wasn't large in this area, but it was incredibly blue and looked so full of life—
Earth.
