Chapter 195 Beast Tide
Chapter 195 Beast Tide
With the Heart of the Azure Sea in their hands, Xu Xiaoxiao and her two companions flew deeper into the Phantom Demon Realm. They thought that they could finally breathe a sigh of relief after escaping the chaotic battle for the Heart of the Azure Sea. However, not long after they flew, the earth suddenly began to shake violently, as if thousands of troops were galloping.
"What's going on? This tremor is too strong!" Xu Xiaoxiao exclaimed in astonishment, almost losing her balance.
Jiang Jingzhi's expression was grave, and he warily observed his surroundings: "Something's not right. This tremor doesn't seem like a normal crustal movement."
Before he could finish speaking, a group of demons who were cultivating rushed over from the front in a panic, shouting as they ran, "Run! The beast tide is coming!" Their voices were full of fear and anxiety.
"A beast tide?" Mu Zhusheng frowned, a hint of worry flashing across her face. "This is troublesome. Once a beast tide breaks out, it will be overwhelming and difficult to resist."
Without the slightest hesitation, Jiang Jingzhi swiftly retrieved a finely crafted, top-grade flying vehicle from his storage ring. The vehicle was streamlined and covered in mysterious runes, clearly not an ordinary item. "Quick, let's go inside and hide!" he shouted.
Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng immediately climbed into the aircraft. As soon as they entered, the aircraft slowly rose and hovered steadily in the air. The three of them nervously observed the situation below through the transparent cabin walls of the aircraft.
A dense horde of monstrous beasts surged forth like a black tide, kicking up dust as they trampled the earth. These beasts came in all shapes and sizes: there were giant bears as large as mountains, whose every step shook the ground; there were agile cheetahs, whose speed created a gust of wind as they ran; and there were wild boars with sharp tusks, roaring and charging forward with red eyes. They seemed to have completely lost their minds, running wildly in one direction, biting anyone in their path, leaving chaos in their wake.
"How did these monsters suddenly become like this? It's like they're being controlled by something," Xu Xiaoxiao said, her face full of doubt as she stared intently at the beast tide below.
Jiang Jingzhi observed carefully for a while and shook his head slightly: "It doesn't seem like he's being controlled, but rather like he's been subjected to some kind of intense stimulation and has lost his self-awareness."
Mu Zhusheng's gaze turned serious as he analyzed, "This beast tide is coming on strong, which is probably not accidental. It may be related to some secrets deep within this demon realm."
As they were talking, a giant python opened its blood-red maw and pounced on a demon who had no time to escape.
The demon fought desperately, but it was powerless against the python's immense strength. It was instantly ensnared by the python and let out a miserable cry. The other demons around it ignored it and continued to charge forward madly.
"This is terrifying. These monsters have completely lost their normal behavioral logic." Xu Xiaoxiao clenched her fists, her eyes filled with unbearable pain.
Jiang Jingzhi's expression was grim as he said, "If we rush out with such a beast tide, we will definitely be overwhelmed instantly. We must wait for it to pass before we think of a solution."
The three of them watched nervously from inside the aircraft. Time passed by, but the beast tide seemed endless. Suddenly, a huge flying monster charged towards the aircraft. It flapped its huge wings, creating a strong gust of wind that made the aircraft shake violently.
"Oh no, it's spotted us!" Mu Zhusheng immediately prepared for defense.
Jiang Jingzhi's eyes sharpened, and he quickly formed hand seals. A faint golden light screen appeared on the surface of the aircraft, blocking the flying monster's attack. The monster seemed to be enraged and kept hitting the light screen, making dull sounds.
"This can't go on. The monster's attacks will only bring more trouble," Xu Xiaoxiao said anxiously.
Jiang Jingzhi looked outside and said, "I'll try to repel it."
As he spoke, he swung his longsword, and a sword aura shot out from the flying vehicle, slashing towards the flying monster. The sword aura struck the monster, and it let out a painful roar, tumbling several times in the air before finally being swallowed up by the surging beast tide behind it.
Having dealt with the flying monster, the three breathed a slight sigh of relief, but the tense atmosphere remained unabated. The beast tide below continued, and the monsters' frenzy showed no signs of abating.
"When will this beast tide finally end?" Xu Xiaoxiao looked at the endless beast tide below, feeling somewhat anxious.
Mu Zhusheng comforted her, "Don't worry, this will all pass. What we need to do now is preserve our strength and ensure our safety."
Jiang Jingzhi nodded slightly: "That's right. After the beast tide passes, we can investigate the reasons behind it. Perhaps the beast tide is intricately related to our exploration in the Demon Realm."
The three waited patiently inside the aircraft. As time passed, the size of the beast tide seemed to gradually decrease, and the footsteps of the monsters gradually weakened. Finally, when the last monster disappeared into the distance, the earth gradually returned to peace.
Jiang Jingzhi carefully piloted the aircraft down slowly. After landing, the three of them cautiously stepped out of the aircraft.
Looking at the scene of devastation before him, with signs of destruction everywhere and the corpses of demons and monsters, he was filled with emotion.
"This beast tide is incredibly destructive," Xu Xiaoxiao said softly.
Jiang Jingzhi's gaze was firm: "No matter what secrets are hidden behind this, we must find out. There are probably more dangers waiting for us in the depths of this demon realm, but I believe that as long as we work together, we will definitely be able to cope."
Mu Zhusheng gripped the spirit sword in her hand: "That's right, let's continue forward and see what else this demon realm is hiding."
Xu Xiaoxiao took a deep breath, her eyes shining with determination: "Alright, let's work together to unravel the mysteries of this demon realm."
They proceeded along a rugged path, surrounded by an eerie fog that obscured the view. Throughout the journey, all three remained highly vigilant, gripping their weapons tightly, ready to deal with any potential dangers.
Suddenly, a deep roar came from ahead, and a huge, lone monster rushed out of the mist.
The monster was covered in black scales, its sharp claws leaving marks on the ground, and its blood-red eyes revealed endless ferocity. It opened its blood-red maw and pounced on the three of them, its mouth emitting a nauseating stench.
"Watch out!" Jiang Jingzhi shouted, quickly drawing his longsword and heading towards the monster.
He flashed through the air like a black lightning bolt, his longsword, imbued with a sharp sword aura, aimed straight at the monster's heart.
The monster seemed to sense the danger and tried to escape, but Jiang Jingzhi was too fast, and it had no time to react.
With a "thud," the longsword pierced the monster's body accurately. The monster let out a painful roar, then collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng rushed over and looked at the monster on the ground with puzzled expressions.
"This monster looks quite ordinary, why did it suddenly attack us?" Xu Xiaoxiao said, frowning.
Jiang Jingzhi squatted down, carefully examined the monster's corpse, shook his head and said, "I didn't find anything unusual either. There were no signs of the monster being controlled or affected by magic. Maybe it was just hungry and mistook us for prey."
Mu Zhusheng was also examining the beast. He searched its entire body, even checking its teeth and claws, and finally said helplessly, "There are indeed no clues. It seems we can only continue forward."
The three continued along the path, proceeding cautiously, fearing any further danger. After walking for an unknown amount of time, they arrived at the edge of a cliff.
Below the cliff was a huge circular pit, the edges of which were covered with strange runes that emitted a faint purple light, giving it a mysterious and dangerous feel.
Jiang Jingzhi stood on the edge of the cliff, his brows furrowed, a hint of vigilance in his eyes. Suddenly, his expression changed slightly, and he whispered, "Not good, there's the aura of demons nearby."
As he spoke, he quickly pulled Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng behind a huge rock.
The three held their breath and quietly observed the movements below. They saw a group of demons walking over from a distance. They were wearing black robes and had hideous masks on their faces, so their expressions were not visible. The demons stopped in front of the pit and began to work around it.
One of the demons held a black bottle and sprinkled the powder inside onto the runes on the edge of the pit. As the powder fell, the runes shone even brighter. The other demons stood by, chanting incantations, as if reciting some kind of spell.
Xu Xiaoxiao watched their actions, her heart filled with doubt.
She cautiously said to Jiang Jingzhi and Mu Zhusheng, "Senior Brother, Second Senior Brother, look at their movements. Are they breaking some kind of formation or seal?"
Jiang Jingzhi nodded slightly, a hint of worry in his eyes: "Very likely. The behavior of these demons is too strange. This pit and these runes must be hiding some secret. They risked coming here, they must be trying to get something."
Mu Zhusheng frowned and said, "No matter what they want to do, we can't let them succeed. These demons have always been wicked. If they break this formation or seal, who knows how much disaster it will bring to the demon realm."
The three of them stared intently at the demons below, secretly devising a plan. They knew that these demons were very strong, and that they would not be able to defeat them if they attacked rashly. They had to come up with a comprehensive plan.
Just then, the demons below seemed to have finished their preparations. They retreated and formed a semicircle, chanting their incantations more rapidly.
As the incantation was chanted, the purple light in the pit grew stronger and stronger, and a powerful force emanated from the pit, distorting the surrounding air.
"Oh no, they're about to succeed!" Jiang Jingzhi's expression changed drastically. He knew that if they didn't take action soon, it would be too late.
He stood up quickly, the longsword in his hand gleaming coldly: "We can't let them succeed, we'll fight!"
Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng also stood up, their eyes revealing a firm determination. The three of them simultaneously channeled their spiritual power, preparing to launch an attack on the demons below.
However, just as they were about to make their move, a deafening roar suddenly came from the pit.
The roar was deafening, making the entire earth tremble.
Upon hearing the roar, the demons' faces showed terror, and they all turned around, wanting to flee.
But it was too late. A huge monster burst out of the pit. This monster was as big as a mountain, covered with black scales, and had a pair of huge wings that blotted out the sky.
Its eyes burned with red flames, and it spewed out raging fire from its mouth, turning everything in its path into a sea of flames.
"What kind of monster is this?" Xu Xiaoxiao looked at the monster in front of her in horror, her heart filled with fear.
Jiang Jingzhi's expression was solemn. He gripped his longsword tightly and said, "No matter what it is, we cannot back down. This monster has been released by the demon race. We must stop it, or the consequences will be unimaginable."
Mu Zhusheng nodded, the spirit sword in his hand gleaming with golden light: "That's right, let's go together, even if it costs us everything, we must protect the Demon Realm."
The three exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with trust and determination. They charged toward the monster simultaneously, ready to engage in a life-or-death struggle.
Seeing the three charging towards them, the monster let out an angry roar, flapped its huge wings, stirred up a gust of wind, and pounced on the three.
Jiang Jingzhi made the first move, his longsword carrying powerful sword energy as he slashed at the beast's wings. Sensing the danger, the beast quickly flapped its wings to block Jiang Jingzhi's attack.
Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng were not to be outdone. They charged at the monster from both sides and unleashed their respective spells.
A sharp blade of energy condensed on Xu Xiaoxiao's spirit sword, slashing towards the monster's leg; Mu Zhusheng, on the other hand, quickly formed hand seals, sending golden runes flying towards the monster in an attempt to disrupt its movements.
Enraged by the three's attacks, the monster roared madly, flapping its wings and claws as it attacked the three. In an instant, flames soared into the sky, sword energy crisscrossed, and shouts of battle were deafening.
While fighting the monster, Jiang Jingzhi observed its weaknesses. He discovered that although the monster's eyes were burning with flames, they were its weakest point. An idea struck him, and he decided to take the risk.
He dodged the monster's attack with a flash, then charged toward the monster's eyes. The monster noticed Jiang Jingzhi's intention and quickly swung its claws to try and stop him, but Jiang Jingzhi was too fast and it had no time to react.
Jiang Jingzhi approached the monster, his long sword brimming with killing intent, and thrust it towards the monster's eyes.
The monster let out a painful roar as Jiang Jingzhi pierced one of its eyes, causing blood to flow freely.
The monster, now missing an eye, became even more frenzied. It lunged at Jiang Jingzhi recklessly, but Jiang Jingzhi quickly retreated to avoid its attack.
Just then, Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng seized the opportunity and simultaneously unleashed their strongest spells, attacking the monster's other eye.
The monster tried to dodge, but it was too late. With two "poof" sounds, the monster's other eye was also hit by the two men, and it completely lost its sight.
The blind beast became even more ferocious, rampaging across the battlefield and leaving devastation in its wake. Jiang Jingzhi and his companions seized the opportunity to launch an attack, continuously unleashing spells and sword energy to strike the beast's body.
