Chapter 545 The atmosphere is tense
The next morning, Li Xiangyang had just gotten up when he heard the sound of a car engine coming from outside the courtyard.
Looking through the window, I saw that Mr. Chen's black sedan was already parked at the door, followed closely by two vans.
"Xiangyang, the people are here." Boss Chen strode into the courtyard, followed by six or seven burly men.
Li Xiangyang carefully observed these people. Although they were dressed simply, their eyes were sharp and their steps were steady, indicating that they were skilled in martial arts.
“These brothers are all my friends in the provincial capital. They came here today specifically to help out,” Boss Chen explained.
A middle-aged man, who seemed to be the leader, stepped forward and extended his hand: "Mr. Li, my surname is Liu, everyone calls me Brother Liu. We heard from Mr. Chen that you're in trouble here, so we've come to see if we can help."
Li Xiangyang grasped the other person's hand, feeling a strong grip: "Brother Liu, thank you for your help."
"Don't be so polite, we're all friends." Brother Liu smiled. "But Mr. Li, if things really get heated later, don't hold back."
Just then, Wang Ergou came running up, panting: "Brother Xiangyang, something bad has happened! More than a dozen people are at the village entrance, in three cars, heading towards our factory!"
Li Xiangyang frowned: "Who are they?"
"They don't look like locals; they all look fierce." Wang Ergou wiped the sweat from his brow. "Uncle Zhang told me to come and inform you right away."
Boss Chen sneered, "It seems Zhao Jianhua is really impatient."
“Let’s go to the factory,” Li Xiangyang decided immediately.
The group hurried toward the factory, with Brother Liu and the others following closely behind.
When Li Xiangyang arrived at the factory gate, he saw three black cars parked on the side of the road, and more than a dozen men in suits were gathered around the gate.
One of the middle-aged men, wearing glasses, was shouting, "Who's in charge of this factory? We're from the provincial environmental protection bureau. Someone reported your factory for polluting the environment; you must immediately stop production and cooperate with the investigation!"
Ma Qingfu stood at the factory gate, his face ashen: "Do you have law enforcement credentials?"
"Identification?" The bespectacled man chuckled dismissively. "Kid, we're doing you a favor by checking, don't push your luck!"
Li Xiangyang strode over: "Who are you people?"
The bespectacled man glanced at Li Xiangyang, a hint of apprehension flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his arrogant demeanor: "I am Wang Hai, the head of the inspection team from the Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau. This is my identification."
He pulled out a red ID card and waved it around. Li Xiangyang took a closer look and found that the writing on the ID card was blurry and the photo was not clear.
“This document is fake,” Li Xiangyang said coldly.
"What did you say?" Wang Hai's expression changed. "Kid, do you know what crime it is to offend law enforcement officers?"
At this moment, Old Party Secretary Zhang walked over, leaning on his cane, followed by more than a dozen villagers.
"Xiangyang, these people were just asking around the village about your factory, and they even said they wanted to search the villagers' houses," Old Party Secretary Zhang said, pointing at Wang Hai. "In all my years, I've never seen such arrogant law enforcement officers."
"Old man, stop trying to sow discord here!" one of Wang Hai's men said viciously.
"Who are you calling an old man?" Grandpa Li stepped out from the crowd, glaring angrily at the other person.
The villagers also gathered around, and the atmosphere immediately became tense.
Li Xiangyang walked up to Wang Hai and calmly said, "Everyone, I don't care who you are, but this is our factory. Without proper permits, no one is allowed to enter."
"Legal paperwork?" Wang Hai sneered. "Kid, I bet you won't admit it until you're faced with the truth. Brothers, search them!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than Wang Hai's men were about to rush into the factory.
"Wait!" Brother Liu and several of his men blocked the factory gate. "Gentlemen, this is private property. Please show us a valid search warrant."
Wang Hai glanced at Liu Ge and the others, sensing the threat, but still tried to sound tough, saying, "Who are you? How dare you obstruct law enforcement?"
"We're the factory's security guards," Brother Liu said calmly. "Is there a problem?"
The two sides faced off, and the air was thick with tension.
Just then, the sound of a car engine came from the village entrance, and a green jeep drove up. The door opened, and four uniformed law enforcement officers got out. The one in the lead was Zhu Dabiao, whom Li Xiangyang knew.
"What's going on?" Zhu Dabiao walked over, his gaze sweeping between the two groups of people.
Seeing that the real law enforcement officers had arrived, Wang Hai nervously took a step back, but still forced himself to say, "Comrades, we are from the Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau, here to inspect our work. These people are obstructing our law enforcement."
Zhu Dabiao took the identification document from Wang Hai, examined it carefully, and then looked at the others: "Do you all have identification documents?"
Wang Hai's men looked at each other, and several of them pulled out equally blurry identification documents.
Zhu Dabiao held the documents up to the sunlight and examined them carefully, then sneered, "Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau? How come I didn't know the province had sent an inspection team?"
He tossed the document back to Wang Hai: "Besides, this document is made so poorly, the paper is all wrong."
Wang Hai's expression completely changed: "You... what do you mean?"
"What do you mean?" Zhu Dabiao pulled out handcuffs. "Using fake documents and impersonating a state official—that's a serious charge against you."
"Wait!" Wang Hai hurriedly backed away. "We...we're just here to discuss business, nothing more."
"Talking business?" Li Xiangyang walked over. "That's not what you said earlier. Didn't you just say you were going to search my factory?"
Old Party Secretary Zhang, leaning on his cane, walked up to Zhu Dabiao: "Little Zhu, these people were wandering around the village this morning, going door to door asking about the factory. The villagers all saw them."
Zhu Dabiao nodded and said to his men, "Take them all back for investigation."
"Wait!" Wang Hai shouted hastily, sensing the situation was turning against him. "We're here on someone's behalf; the real mastermind is Zhao Jianhua!"
Upon hearing this name, Boss Chen and Li Xiangyang exchanged a glance.
"Who is Zhao Jianhua?" Zhu Dabiao asked.
"The owner of the provincial capital's trading company told us to come here and cause trouble, saying he wanted to ruin the factory." To lessen his own charges, Wang Hai spilled the beans, revealing everything. "He gave each of us five hundred yuan and told us to pretend to be law enforcement officers to shut down the factory."
Zhu Dabiao frowned: "Is that so?"
Li Xiangyang walked up to Zhu Dabiao: "Captain Zhu, this Zhao Jianhua has been causing trouble for our factory lately. Yesterday, he even sent a fake reporter to interview us."
"A fake reporter?" Zhu Dabiao's expression became even more serious. "Boss Li, you need to tell me about this in detail."
