Chapter 824 - Creating Bone Dragons
Chapter 824 - Creating Bone Dragons
Bone Dragons were an undead species with two methods of creation. The first occurred naturally. When a Great Dragon’s corpse decomposed while its soul remained intact, the lingering soul would bond with the bones and transform into a Bone Dragon.
The second was artificial. High-quality bones were shaped into a dragon skeleton before a dragon soul was introduced and fused with it to create a Bone Dragon. Usually, an artificial Bone Dragon had lower potential than a natural one. Under the current circumstances, however, Han Wu had no choice but to rely on the artificial method.
He could fuse high-quality bones at any time, but dragon souls were far harder to obtain. The Great Dragons in his divine realm had followed him for so long that he felt attached to them. He couldn’t bring himself to extract their souls.
Without a dragon soul, a Bone Dragon couldn’t be created. Dragon souls were the key to the Bone Dragons’ exceptional magical resistance. Time was short, and Han Wu had no room left to hesitate. Gritting his teeth, he selected the lowest-ranked Great Dragon among his units, the Wicked Dragon, and summoned it out.
Veritas had no idea what it was about to face. When it saw Han Wu’s warm, cheerful face, it assumed something good was coming.
Han Wu tried to sound as amicable and reassuring as possible. “Good boy, don’t be scared. I’m just going to take a small portion of your dragon soul. You’ve been through this before. Grit your teeth, and it’ll be over.”
The moment Veritas heard that, it immediately spread its wings to flee. Take a portion of my dragon soul? That’s going to tear a dragon apart from the inside out!
Veritas had experienced separating its own soul from its body before, but that had been a desperate attempt to escape a seal. There was nothing routine about it!
Han Wu had no intention of letting it escape. He used the Five Element Seal and unleashed the full power of all twelve Rings to lock Veritas in place. The powerful seal reminded Veritas of the time it had been trapped within the Coiled Dragon Forest.
“Good boy. It’ll be over quickly. Once we’re done, I’ll find you some Spirit Stones. I guarantee that you’ll recover completely.” While continuing to reassure it, Han Wu had Jing Jing use her incomplete Soul Jurisdiction to split Veritas’ soul.
Jing Jing’s technique was steady, precise, and thorough. Veritas’ soul had been divided into nineteen portions in no time at all. Veritas retained one portion for itself while she took the other eighteen.
The severe loss of its dragon soul caused Veritas’ strength to plummet rapidly. It fell below the Earthsunder rank and eventually stabilized at the Sage rank. Signs of mental regression and memory loss even appeared.
Han Wu sighed and patted Veritas on the head as it stared blankly ahead. “Stay a little slow for a few days. I won’t forget what you’ve done for me.”
He then sent it back into the divine realm to play in a quiet corner.[1]
Han Wu then activated Merge and combined the remaining bone fragments from the skeleton horde. Following the physical structure of a true Great Dragon, dense dragon bones gradually took shape, each one stronger than ordinary dragon bones. Piece by piece, the fused bones assembled into the main frame of a Bone Dragon.
Jing Jing placed a dragon soul into the Bone Dragon and guided the process with her Soul Jurisdiction. One hour later, the first Earthsunder Bone Dragon was complete.
Jing Jing then selected a Flame Aspect from the spoils she had collected during the divine war and drove it into the Bone Dragon. Once the Flame Aspect merged with the soul, the first Bone Dragon went through another transformation. A bone crown resembling a Divine Ring appeared above its head. Green phosphorus ignited across the crown. A World Phosphor Bone Dragon had been born.
The moment it was reanimated, the Phosphor Bone Dragon charged directly into the area blanketed by Hellfire Shells. The shells struck it and exploded into flames, yet the white phosphorus fire had no effect on it. If anything, it strengthened the Phosphor Bone Dragon.
Emerald flames spread from its head across its entire body, imbuing every strike with potent phosphorus fire. Enemy units were driven back step by step and could only rely on the anti-World life form arsenal to keep the Phosphor Bone Dragon at bay.
The success of the first Bone Dragon confirmed that their plan was working. Han Wu and Jing Jing immediately continued creating more. As the process consumed increasing amounts of bones, the skeleton horde rapidly diminished. At the same time, Jing Jing’s power increased with every new Bone Dragon added to her command.
In a short period, Jing Jing gained eighteen lower-grade Microcosms, and the Bone Energy they produced strengthened her continuously. Fueled by their power, she experienced a sudden realization. She gathered all that energy together and discovered that it was enough to temporarily push her into the World rank. The power couldn’t last long, but for Jing Jing, it was still a significant breakthrough.
“Thank you, my God, for granting me this power,” Jing Jing said reverently.
Han Wu waved it off. Jing Jing growing stronger pleased him even more than it pleased her. He also realized that cultivating her was relatively simple compared to his other units. All she truly required was a large supply of bones and corpses. Wherever war existed, bones followed. Combined with his Merge, it would be almost impossible for Jing Jing not to become powerful.
He was already considering how to give Jing Jing a significant boost once the divine war ended, whether through an opportunity or a location. However, that could wait for later. Winning the divine war came first.
“Bone Dragons, charge!” Han Wu ordered.
The eighteen newly formed Bone Dragons obeyed and marched steadily. They endured the barrage of Hellfire Shells and crashed into the Slaughter Faction’s central defensive line. Everywhere they passed, death followed.
Han Wu absorbed the rich Death Energy surrounding the battlefield and formed another small Death Microcosm within himself. Meanwhile, Jing Jing activated her Divine Skill and converted the corpses into undead before stationing them at the rear as material to restore the Bone Dragons.
Under the Bone Dragons’ overwhelming assault, the central defensive line collapsed. The anti-World life form equipment detected the World life forms threatening its range and immediately activated. Powerful World attacks erupted from the equipment. Meteorites rained down, lightning storms tore through the battlefield, and even hurricanes swept across the area.
Each attack carried the force of natural disasters. The eighteen Bone Dragons relied entirely on their overwhelming magical resistance and raw physical strength to push straight through every attack and reach the equipment.
The equipment’s guards rushed forward to intercept them. They hadn’t reached the World rank themselves and stood no chance against the Bone Dragons. Within moments, all of them were defeated.
The anti-World life form equipment now lay completely exposed before the Bone Dragons. Through their fragile souls, the Bone Dragons asked Jing Jing what to do next.
Jing Jing replied, “Bring back anything that can be carried. Destroy the rest.”
She had no intention of leaving a single useful resource behind for the enemy.
The Bone Dragons understood immediately. They opened their jaws wide and tore into the anti-World life form equipment. Valuable as it was, the equipment couldn’t withstand a Bone Dragon’s bite force.
Before long, the Bone Dragons destroyed everything and returned to Jing Jing’s side with whatever materials they had managed to salvage.
With the central defensive line broken, Han Wu looked through the breach and saw the Slaughter Faction’s core area along with its final defensive line. That was the last barrier standing between them and victory.
