Chapter 528: Impressive Technology
Chapter 528: Impressive Technology
"You think this will be enough to stop us?" The humanoid robots in the air began speaking in unison, their voices echoing dramatically.
The effect was cool, like something out of a sci-fi movie.
As I hovered in the air, holding the old president like a trophy, I couldn’t help but "marvel" at the absurdity of the situation.
Here I was, in a city that was the peak of both power and technology, and their best response to threaten me with a bunch of flying robots that talk in unison?
"Well, this is quite the reception," I announced, my voice echoing through the air. "All these advance weapons and gadgets, and you still resort to sending Grandpa here to do the leading?"
The armored personnel below exchanged uncertain glances, probably wondering how to deal with a floating magician who had just snatched their president.
Meanwhile, the robots continued to hover around me , making sure I would not be able to escape.
"Listen up, everyone!" I called out, amplifying my voice. "I came here to help, not to cause trouble. But if your solution to every problem is to send an army and a prehistoric president, then maybe you should reconsider your tactics."
One of the robots, slightly more advanced than the others, floated closer and attempted to speak.
"Release the president immediately, or we will—"
"Or you will what?" I interrupted, waving my staff casually "Send more tin cans after me? You know, I’ve faced stronger enemies from a can opener."
The president, still dangling in my grasp, made a weak protest.
"Put... put me down please..." he mumbled, his aged voice barely audible.
"Oh, sorry, did you say something?" I asked, pretending to be deaf. "You know, it’s hard to hear over the sound of your country’s budget being burned on useless tech."
The old man’s face contorted, but he remained silent.
He was just a puppet president, after all.
The only reason he won the last election was because of the true powerhouses running this country from the shadows, with the Astor family being one of the biggest players, according to my research.
Just before hitting the ground, I slowed my descent and landed casually.
"Well, that was quite the show," I said, brushing imaginary dust off my robes. "Did you really think a barrier like that could stop me?"
The guards seemed momentarily stunned by my nonchalant landing.
"Let me show you what a true barrier looks like," I declared, a mischievous grin spreading across my lips.
With a casual motion, I raised my staff high into the air.
Suddenly, multiple magic circles materialized on top of the staff, each layer adorned with a different hue: red, blue, green, brown, yellow, and darkness.
The colors danced and intermingled, creating a dazzling display that was more for show than actual function . Stay updated via novelhall.Côm
"Attack him!" shouted by the person remotely controlling the robots.
In response, thousands of its machines raised their hands, their metallic fingers glowing with energy as they unleashed a barrage of Repulsor Rays directly at me.
The beams of light converged on me like a magnifying glass focusing sunlight to kill an ant, each beam carrying immense force and intent to kill.
However, they had picked the wrong opponent to mess with.
Unfazed by the attack, I balanced the odds.
The air around me turned into a see-through glass. The Repulsor Rays, meant to harm me, got redirected.
I became a spectacle akin to a disco ball as the beams ricocheted off, shooting off in all directions. They struck everything in their path, hitting targets and kill everyone unlucky enough to take the blow.
When the attack stopped, the whole place was wrecked by their own attack.
The ground was torn up, bodies were burnt, and even the anti-air missiles blew up from a stray beam.
"Well, I have to say," I said with a wide smile, "I’m impressed. Your technology really knows how to make an impact." I chuckled lightly, clapping my hands to show everyone how much I appreciated their so-called advanced technology.
