Chapter 572 The intelligence is good.
Chapter 572 The intelligence is good.
Kakuzu had no objection to this. His sharp eyes scanned the surrounding jungle, quickly locking onto a direction. The next second, his figure vanished like a ghost.
A moment later, Kakuzu returned to Zhang Hai's side, carrying a trembling Rain Ninja. The Rain Ninja was deathly pale, his eyes filled with terror, and his body was shaking uncontrollably.
Zhang Hai stepped forward, looking down at the Rain Ninja. He extended a hand and gently placed it on the Rain Ninja's forehead, a glint of cold light flashing in his eyes. "Tell me, what's the situation on the battlefield now?" His voice was like a whisper, yet it carried an undeniable power. An illusion had already been silently cast.
The ripples of the illusion spread through the Rain Ninja's eyes, leaving them empty and lost. Zhang Hai's question, like a curse, pierced directly into the depths of his consciousness, unearthing all the information about the battlefield.
A moment later, Zhang Hai withdrew his hand, and the Rain Ninja's body went limp and he fell unconscious.
"Hmm...not bad." Zhang Hai muttered to himself, tilting his head and tapping his chin with his fingers as he pondered. "According to him, the battle in Amegakure seems to be going quite smoothly, and they have gained a clear advantage at the front. There really isn't a good way to defend against Hanzo's wide-range poison attacks."
Kakuzu stood to the side with his arms crossed, but he wasn't optimistic about Zhang Hai's assessment. "Hmph, this kind of poison can't be inexhaustible," he sneered, a hint of disdain in his tone. "Its weakness is obvious; it remains to be seen whether those guys from Sunagakure can discover it. Amegakure can't win with just Hanzo alone." His shrewd insight easily saw through the limitations of the poison tactic.
"Is that so?" Zhang Hai smiled noncommittally, his eyes gleaming with eager anticipation. "In that case, why don't we go up and take a look, verify your judgment, and also meet that 'demigod'?"
Kakuzu shrugged, offering no objection. The two then strode into the forest.
The moment they stepped inside, a pungent stench of decay and blood assaulted their nostrils. The ground was littered with corpses, some Sunagakure ninja, others a few from Amegakure. Their faces were all frozen in extreme pain and struggle; some bodies had already begun to rot, their skin a strange bluish-purple, clearly poisoned. The few Amegakure ninja lying on the ground, though also covered in wounds, mostly wore makeshift gas masks, suggesting they were victims of the poison rather than direct victims of death. This horrific scene failed to elicit the slightest change in Zhang Hai and Kakuzu's expressions.
The two continued onward, and the deeper they went, the stronger the stench of poison in the air became. When they finally passed through the last layer of dense forest and the view suddenly opened up before them, the sight was even more astonishing.
On the vast battlefield, no living souls could be seen. Instead, a thick, purple poisonous fog blanketed the entire area, almost impenetrable. Within the fog, shattered trees and scorched earth were faintly visible, as if a cataclysmic disaster had just occurred. The Sand Village forces had been forced to retreat to the far edge of the battlefield by this poisonous fog, utterly powerless to resist, and could only watch helplessly as the purple barrier continued to expand.
At this moment, deep within the poisonous fog, a figure clad in a black trench coat and wearing a gas mask stood confidently atop the back of a giant salamander. This was Hanzo, the leader of Amegakure, the "Demigod" salamander. Gazing at the battlefield shrouded in the poisonous fog, a triumphant smile spread across his face. He believed that if he persisted, the day he would conquer Sunagakure and ultimately lead Amegakure to become the sixth greatest ninja nation in the world would come sooner or later.
Just then, Hanzo's eyes, hidden behind his gas mask, suddenly caught glimpses of figures appearing and disappearing within the poisonous fog. These figures weren't scattering in all directions; instead, they were walking straight towards him. Hanzo was puzzled, wondering to himself, "Who could move so freely in such dense poisonous fog? Have the ninjas of Sunagakure found some kind of immunity to the toxin?"
He decided to test the waters.
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!"
Hanzo swiftly formed hand seals, then suddenly spat out countless water droplets from his mouth. Each droplet, like a bullet, whistled through the air as it hurtled towards the shadowy figure within the poisonous mist. This was his usual method of probing, enough to gauge the opponent's strength.
However, the figures within the poisonous fog seemed to have anticipated this. Instead of directly confronting Hanzo's attack, they nimbly leaped and dodged. Although the water bullets were densely packed, none hit their mark; they merely struck empty air, making "plop" sounds before dissipating into the poisonous fog.
A flicker of disbelief crossed Hanzo's eyes. The figures moved with extraordinary agility and with incredible ease within the poisonous fog, which made him extremely uneasy. He waved his hand, his chakra surging, and the vast poisonous fog gradually dissipated around him, revealing its true form hidden within.
What appeared before him were not ninjas from Sunagakure. Instead, they were puppets of various shapes and sizes, and atop the largest of these giant puppets stood a short, middle-aged woman. Her face bore the marks of time, but her eyes were filled with shrewdness and cunning.
Hanzo breathed a sigh of relief; it wasn't a Sunagakure ninja who had found a way to counteract the poison. But he was immediately puzzled: who was this person? And how could they survive his deadly poison?
"Who are you?" Hanzo asked in a deep voice, which sounded somewhat low through his gas mask.
The middle-aged woman chuckled, a laugh that sounded somewhat shrill and grating. "Old man, don't you even recognize me, 'Lady Chiyo'?" she said, hands on her hips, a hint of smugness in her voice.
Upon hearing this, Hanzo's face revealed a disdainful expression. Although it was hidden by a mask, his contempt was evident. "A beauty? Just a puppet old woman," he coldly replied, completely disregarding her.
"You old man with a breathing tube!" Chiyo's face contorted with rage at the address, veins bulging on her cheeks. Her aged face was contorted with fury, her finger trembling as she pointed at Hanzo, roaring, "Haven't you realized?! I've already neutralized your poison! Hmph, just wait to die!"
Before she finished speaking, Chiyo commanded the puppet beneath her, as well as the other puppets around her, to surge towards Hanzo like a tidal wave.
