Time Travel: The Survival of Li Zhi

Chapter 436: Brutal Atrocities

Chapter 436: Brutal Atrocities

The door of the shabby house slowly opened, and a woman came out holding a child of two or three years old.

The woman's face was as pale as paper, her eyes were full of panic and despair, and her messy hair was scattered wantonly beside her haggard cheeks.

The child in her arms was frightened by the tense scene and trembled with fear. He clutched his mother's clothes tightly, his little face full of fear, but he looked at the chaos in front of him ignorantly.

When the woman saw the bloody corpses on the ground, her body trembled violently and she almost fell down. Tears instantly filled her eyes.

She gathered herself together, held the child in her arms, and with a plop, she knelt straight down in front of Master Zhang. She pleaded in a trembling voice, "Master Zhang, please, spare my child! He doesn't understand anything. Please, let him go!"

As she spoke, she kowtowed repeatedly, her forehead hitting the ground heavily with a dull sound. After a while, bloodstains appeared on her forehead.

Mr. Zhang stood there, looking down at the woman condescendingly, without a trace of pity on his face. Instead, he showed a cruel sneer, as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world.

A servant beside him shouted, "The master is kind-hearted and can't bear to see others cry, and you're still crying?"

When the servant scolded her, the woman quickly covered her mouth and dared not make a sound.

Mr. Zhang smiled and said, "Come, bring the child over here and let me take a look..."

Upon hearing this, the servant beside her immediately stepped forward and reached out to snatch the child from the woman's arms.

The woman struggled with all her might, her frail arms tightly protecting the child, her nails turning white from the effort. But she was no match for the strong servant, and the child was forcibly snatched from her arms.

The woman was worried, and she threw herself at the servant desperately, trying to take her child back, but was kicked to the ground by another servant and fell heavily in the mud.

The servant took the child he had snatched from the woman and handed it to Mr. Zhang.

The child looked at Master Zhang with fear on his face. He was so frightened that he burst into tears, waving his hands helplessly in the air, shouting, "Mom, Mom..."

That childish voice seemed particularly sad in this chaotic and bloody scene.

Hearing the child's cry, Master Zhang frowned at first, then a fierce look flashed across his face, and he suddenly grabbed the child from the servant's hands.

Then, he lifted the child high up and threw him to the ground.

With a dull "bang", the child's small body fell heavily to the ground and became motionless in an instant. Blood spread on the ground, staining it red.

The woman witnessed this scene and felt as if struck by lightning. Her eyes became empty in an instant, as if her soul had been taken away.

She slowly crawled towards the child, murmuring to herself: "Son, son..."

The voice was so weak as a gossamer thread that it broke one's heart.

She picked up the child's cold body and held it tightly against her chest. Tears burst out like a flood, and she cried heart-wrenchingly.

"It's so noisy!" Mr. Zhang was upset by the woman's heart-wrenching cries and muttered with disgust on his face.

The servants in front of him understood what he meant. One of them drew the sword from his waist without hesitation. His movements were quick and decisive. The sword came down with a flash of cold light.

The woman fell straight into a pool of blood like a withered petal. The bright red blood quickly spread on the ground and mixed with the child's blood, which was a shocking sight.

Witnessing this tragic scene, the crowd around acted extremely indifferent, as if what was happening before their eyes was just an insignificant farce.

They looked numb, and some even had a hint of excitement on their faces. They watched with relish, as if the dead on the ground were not living beings but worthless objects.

Only Li Zhi and his group had ashen faces and flames of anger burning in their eyes.

Nangong Wen was so angry that his whole body was shaking, his hands were clenched into fists, and his knuckles turned white. He almost couldn't help but rush forward to punish these evildoers.

However, Li Zhi was quick-witted and grabbed Nangong Wen's arm tightly. He said in a deep voice: "We... can't control it..."

Nangong Wen gritted his teeth, his cheeks puffed up, and his chest heaved violently. After a long time, he let out a long sigh, which was full of frustration and resentment, but he had to accept this cruel reality.

Seeing that he had brutally killed the people, Master Zhang's eyes flashed with satisfaction. He glanced at the dilapidated place filled with a lowly atmosphere with disdain, clapped his hands in disgust, as if to shake off the bad luck, and said, "Let's go! It's unbearable to stay in this damn place for a moment longer."

After saying that, he swaggered away with a group of servants.

As they left, the crowd around them, seeing that there was no more excitement to watch, dispersed in boredom.

Li Zhi had sharp eyes and happened to catch a glimpse of the passerby who had been stopped by them before, who was now preparing to leave among the crowd.

So Li Zhi quickly stepped forward, flashed, and stopped the man again.

The man was suddenly stopped again and immediately became furious. He roared with anger on his face: "What the hell do you want to do? It's never going to end, right?"

Li Zhiqiang suppressed his inner anger and replaced it with a gentle smile. He said, "Brother, please don't be angry. We are new here and are completely clueless about the rules of the Wei Dynasty. I hope you can help us and explain them to us."

When the man heard this, his brows immediately frowned, and he was very unhappy. He thought about it in his heart and was trying to find an excuse to refuse Li Zhi.

Seeing this, Li Zhi immediately added, "If you have enough time, I'd like to invite you to Jin Cui Xuan so we can eat and chat."

"Jin Cui Xuan?"

When the man heard the name, his eyes lit up instantly.

Jincuixuan is well-known in Wukou City. It is an upscale place frequented by dignitaries and wealthy businessmen.

People of his status usually don't even have the qualifications to stop and watch at the door of Jincuixuan, let alone go in and enjoy the food. So, when he heard Li Zhi's words, his heart was instantly hooked and began to waver.

Li Zhi took in all the changes in his expression and knew that he was already moved, but was just too embarrassed to agree immediately because of his face.

So, Li Zhi struck while the iron was hot and said with a smile: "Brother, please don't refuse. Just consider it as helping us."

When the man heard Li Zhi say this, he pretended to hesitate for a moment, then said, "Well... okay, considering your sincerity."

In this way, Li Zhi and his companions took this person all the way towards Jincuixuan.

Along the way, the man seemed to be worried that Li Zhi and the others were making fun of him. Apart from telling Li Zhi and the others that his name was Yu Yong, he was unwilling to say another word.

Li Zhi saw through his thoughts and knew that Yu Yong would not speak easily without a table of delicious food from Jincuixuan.

Therefore, he simply stopped asking questions, thinking that once they arrived at Jincuixuan, Yu Yong would tell him everything he knew once he was sure that he was not being deceived.
